Some may recall a Florida Atlantic University professor who made very public, very national news when he proclaimed Sandy Hook was a hoax. He doubled down on pretty much every mass shooting of note since then. There is something to be said about mucking up a good gig because you can't keep your mouth shut.

Professional doofus, nutbar, professor, and full-time conceited blowhard James Tracy recommended for termination by FAU.

'An FAU administrator gave Tracy a letter Wednesday saying he was being recommended for termination. He has 10 days to file an appeal, “after which final action may be taken,” a university statement said.

FAU officials wouldn’t give the exact reason, saying it’s the school's policy not to comment on personnel matters. But the decision comes less than a week after a public feud between Tracy and the parents of a boy who died at Sandy Hook.

Tracy, who couldn’t be reached for comment Wednesday, first received notoriety in early 2013, after he wrote on his private blog, Memory Hole, that the Sandy Hook massacre in Newtown, Conn., was likely staged. At the time, he received a reprimand because the university said he failed to make it clear his views didn’t represent those of the university.

Since then, Tracy claimed that almost every mass shooting or attack in the United States has been a hoax, including ones at the Boston Marathon, the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C., and the recent shooting in San Bernadino, Calif.'

I had this guy for a theory of public relations class. How he managed to breathe with his head wedged so far up his ass was a biological miracle. I have never met a pompous ass of that caliber. He even wore tweed with corduroy elbow patches. It comes as zero surprise he couldn't shut his mouth to save his job. That FAU waited this long to get the ball rolling is a testament to tenure.

I would really love to know if his public douchebaggery had an impact on the fraud charges.

If he was just living his life out of the spotlight, would this have happened?

Part of me wishes that the SEC were the ones that called the press to let them know they were taking him down.

Wow, not sure what to do with this. Let's say, for instance, the big players on Wall Street decided to go to the government and lobby really hard (including cash incentives, aka campaign donations) for the repeal of a law created due to the malfeasance of investment bankers which led directly to the Great Depression. Then, let's say, those same players went around and bought up bad debt with depositor money (which was legal now due to the repeal of the aforementioned law). Then, let's say, they package that bad debt and give it a fancy name (perhaps 'derivative'). Then, let's say, they sell it to their 'clients' - full well knowing that those products are not only defective, but totally worthless. Then, let's say, they pressure and bribe the 'independent' industry who rates those products so that investors can make informed decisions into giving those known faulty products the highest possible rating. Then, let's say, they turn around, insure those products by betting on them to fail, despite the fact that they told their clients whom they were selling them to that they were good products. Then, let's say, they take massive fees and bonuses off the sale of those goods. Then, let's say, when the precariousness of their position becomes apparent, these self avowed 'free marketers' run to the government for a bailout, telling them that there was no malfeasance and it wasn't their fault and they didn't know, but the government better act quickly. Then, let's say, they get a loan of approximately 1 trillion dollars. Then, let's say, they invest this money in government bonds in order to make more money. Then, let's say, no one was prosecuted, and in fact, several of the key players involved in this fiasco were nominated for positions within the treasury, including head of the Federal Reserve.

In short, the SEC - which to my knowledge prosecuted one very low level broker - did fuck all to any of them.

It makes me mad to see them go after this guy (who is admittedly a douchebag) when they let everyone involved in the biggest fraud in US history to walk away richer for their crimes.

Not to muddy your point, but the Federal Reserve is not part of the treasury. It is independent and not part of either legislative or executive branch, like the Treasury. It simply supports the payment system and is supported by US banks.

    Yes.

Ok, to be technically correct, the President nominates the head of the Federal Reserve system, and the Senate confirms. And yes, technically The Fed is not part of the Treasury, however many of their functions are coordinated. My point was that the 'big players' who fucked up the economy and ruined the financial lives of millions of Americans not only didn't get prosecuted, they got ahead - both politically and financially.

So the SEC going after this lone douchebag is nothing more than grandstanding to show how tough they are on an unsympathetic (and probably less dirty) guy instead of actually protecting citizens.

No, I totally agree with your point. I think the fact that the Federal Reserve is NOT a governmental entity (though, it sounds like it is: it's Federal right there in the name) and controlled more (imo) by banks than the government (and the money reads "Federal Reserve Note" lol) is part of the fuckery. Because they all fuck it up, while the people who have no voice, are stuck with the fuckitude.

I'm not going to pretend I know shit about economics and how the financial system works. It just seems fucked up that it's impossible to support a family on a single income anymore if you live anywhere near a metro area. I would love it if my wife was able to stay home with my kid, but between the mortgage, car and other costs of living, both of us have to work. Never mind the fact that infant day care is roughly the same amount as my mortgage. And even if daycare didn't cost so damn much, we still have to pay for little things like power and food. Oh, and sock money away for our retirement and now college. We'd like to have another kid, but how on God's green earth do we pay for that?

My idea of the American dream is this. A home, two cars, a decent retirement and college fund for my kids, and enough leftover to go on a little vacation once a year. It would be nice to not have to work 80 hours a week to make that happen. I don't think that's too much to ask. In fact, it happened less than a century ago. I doubt it will come back in my lifetime, but any candidate that makes even a shaky first step towards that is who I'll vote for.

Fuck it. Maybe I'll move to Sweden or something.

If everything is as awful as you proclaim it to be, why are Scandinavian countries doing so well? Low crime, livable wages, universal healthcare and education. Oh, and they're happy. Like, happiest on the planet. I don't know about you guys, but trading in half of my income to the government to insure that I won't ever be homeless if I get cancer, or that my kid goes to college for free sounds like a pretty even trade to me.

I have a theory that a lot of places with severe winters tend to be in favor of strong social support. Exceptions include places where there is no society to speak of (North Dakota, for example) but I think a lot of our more socialist leaning states tend to be in the north (mass, Washington, Vermont, etc.).

Scandinavia fits this idea from an evolutionary perspective....winter is hard to survive alone, so we develop a society that emphasizes "we are all in this together " to ensure a better survival rate.

I can't see how you'd raise a family on one income, unless you lived in a rural area or that single income was over, say, $80,000. The average price of a home in Canada is something like $350k, so you either have to have a big chunk of cash and buy or you have to rent, and odds are rental rates will be higher than a mortgage. You need a car (try living in Calgary or Edmonton without one) and the cost of living plus the cost of kids is just so high.

Here you go; dude wasn't black (he's brown) so not sure if this will make the media rotation or not (or if his life matters?).

    http://www.conservativeoutfitters.c...rtner-then-blames-and-kills-the-suspect-video

The unfortunate truth here is, as it is everywhere else, is that people will continue to pay these prices until they don't. We are seeing a run-up like we saw in 2007 all over again, not just in Canada or the U.S., we are seeing it all over the world this time.

That's one where the cop needs to be charged and convicted with murder in the 1st degree. I think he could actually be convicted if that were the charge. I'm betting the charge will be much less than that though.

Is due process just an inconvenient suggestion down there now? When the fuck are people going to stop getting this treatment of cold-blooded killing in the streets? Maybe if these fuck-os had this sort of "justice" applied to their own wife and kids perhaps they'd uphold their oaths.

Hey you know that worthless spoiled little piece of shit Ethan Couch? The little coward cunt who killed a bunch of people drunk driving, claimed "affluenza" and skated off scot-free? He's on the run from the law with his mommy now because video surfaced of him getting drunk.

Do you think he'll turn up dead? I certainly hope so. But by all means keep running you little degenerate, it's just more time you'll spend as the cellblock's fuckmeat.

His parents are great people too. They let this little cunt drive a car to private school when he was13 years old, when the school of course questioned this his parents threatened to buy the school and fire everyone. A police report states when his dad was pulled over for DUI he screamed at the cop "I make more in a day than you do in a year".

    These are great people.
