I have an in-law (one of the crazy backwards hyper religious rednecks I've mentioned on here) who does some testing for the government. If you've watch CNN around the shuttle disasters you've seen him. He's a good barometer for me when shit is starting to get serious, if his work load goes up and stuff. Go figure, an idiot like him -- who is my example when I say some people just shouldn't be allowed to vote -- somehow has an engineering degree and gets the coolest job in the world.

He's been getting some calls lately, the context of which he can't say but he told us it is getting "interesting" over there. And then he laughs, opens a freezing cold Lone Star beer, and says something about them being vapor if they hit the wrong button.

    I can definitely see that.

Kinda like getting a group of hunters together to knock out a hog population in one day real quick, rather that one dude picking them off slowly but surely. "Ok, we've had enough!" It'd be over before it started.

Wouldn't surprise me if there were already talks on some level, even just shooting the shit seeing if the talks would go anywhere, of who would take what amount of refugees, who can contribute what, what the military action would look like. Getting the groundwork laid for a post-vaporizing fallout ahead of the actual fireworks basically.

I'm sure these superpowers have contingencies in place already. Just waiting on one little dude to make one wrong step and he's getting a guided missile up his ass.

Sanders is about to take Michigan. Polls as recent as two days ago had him down by 37 points. The closest poll I've seen, which is also in that same link had him down by 11. I fucking LOVE this election. Looks like I might have been right about the bizarre shake up in these primaries skewing the polls.

Although Mississippi is so far apart I'm not sure yet if Sanders actually gained anything today.

What I would really, REALLY like to know is just how aware is the general population? Do the people of Best Korea really know their plight? Are they so heavily brainwashed/indoctrinated into the belief that they are comfortable and happy with their lives that they want to pursue it? Do they have that international self-awareness that makes them desire to leave? Is it only fear that is keeping them there?

I have yet to see any kind of information that explains this...

There was a piece awhile ago on 60 minutes, or something like that. There are tens of thousands of North Koreans living in South Korea. They all fled. They were all aware that there was something better not too far away, and they took chances to get there. Sadly, when they get there, they all live in a village with each other. They have no usable skills. They are often ostracized because they are identifiable due to their short stature - because they don't eat well. They don't understand technology. They don't even really understand how to live in the modern world. Many of them wondered about the wisdom of leaving as they felt alienated in South Korea.

It is so sad, at times I marvel at my luck at being born in a society that doesn't repress to that degree. I had nothing to do with it, it's sheer luck.

This isn't empirical data by any means, but when I lived in China they were trying to escape en masse. It was a continuing concern because they were always trying to get into foreign schools, compounds, and embassies in hopes of better protection, rather than the Chinese who they feared would just send them straight back. I could not say at all what percentage of the population this is, but there was no shortage. They would sometimes try to take a building or people hostage to get a deal. Hence the concern. This was ten years ago.

Yeah, but it was a 23,000 vote difference. A hair. One delegate difference.

What is more disturbing is how approximately 20% of the population showed up to vote when one of their major cities has been poisoned by the idgit's administration they voted in, and another idgit they did not vote for is holding up relief funds from part of a broader, multi-state lead pipe replacement bill. That number should be higher when this dingus and Snyder are playing politics during a crisis. Hell, 20% of Alabama and Arkansas showed up just 'cause.

Look at the rest of the primaries. She won the night in total count. Losing Michigan was a very, very bad sign.

She was expected to win Mississippi in a land slide.

I'm from Mississippi and anyone who expected Sanders to even compete was completely delusional. The Republican primary was the only contested one in this state and it was more Trump than I expected. Even with all of our major R officeholders endorsing anyone but Trump he still won.

If there were so many injustices you would think they would have been able to cite some, instead of making them up out of thin air and then having to rescind them. The only injustice was the people who got fired without so much as a coherent accusation. At least for Melissa Click we know why she's being fired.

Its all based on their hurt feefee's. An opinion that differed from theirs made them feel uncomfortable and now we are actively making ourselves stupider.

Nothing actually happened to any of these people. They can't articulate any kind of actual offense. I'm glad she's fired. One less stupid person trying to poison the minds of others.

    Speaking of Ohio...

Sanders is suing the Secretary of State for supposed voter suppression.

Now I don't know how the case will fall out legally, but I can recall that I was in this exact position when I was 17. The primaries were in March, I didn't turn 18 until July, but I was allowed to vote in the Primary for a nominee (It was Gore against Bill Bradley), so either the previous SoS was allowing people to vote illegally, or Husted is on the wrong side of the issue. I can't say that this is a direct attack against Sanders, since he announced these changes back in December, but it still seems suspect.

I think that it is. Sanders is doing much better among younger voters than Clinton. The thing is, the democrat establishment wants Sanders to lose almost as badly as the republican party doesn't want Trump. That's why you had an enormous number of superdelegates pledge to Clinton right out of the gate, and they've pushed so many stories about how Sanders has no chance and the nominee is already locked up. For now, Clinton has looked safe and held a comfortable lead so we're not seeing anything near the panic from the Republican side.

They're using the sway they have in the media to whatever advantage they can get. It started with the narrative about how Sanders has no chance, it's since expanded to shameless Clinton propaganda. Consider all the articles recently like this one attempting to discredit Sanders in a debate he clearly won. Unfortunately for Sanders supporters this hasn't backfired in the same kind of way it did with Trump.

Not being a conspiracy theorist here. This is definitely happening, they're just much sneakier and less panicky than the republicans have been.

If Clinton gets the nod because of super delegates, you can go ahead and welcome president Trump to the Oval Office. There has been so much dirty shit propagated by the DNC to elevate Clinton's chances. A lot of people aren't buying it and Bernie's supporters know it. Whether you like Bernie or not, you have to look objectively at what is going on in the establishment and think about it.

Bwahahahaha, Muslim voters want Trump and/or the Jew. Did I mention how much I love this election?

I still believe that if Sanders takes more of the regular delegates they won't actually be shameless enough to put Hillary in. The results of such a scenario would be interesting to see for historical reasons, but I really hope we don't go there.

Oh, I agree with you that there's definitely some general fuckery about with the established Dems against Bernie, I just don't think it is generally related to this specific issue. Only reason I say that is because I also read an older article citing where Clinton already had railed against Husted about this same specific issue sometime last year. However, what's telling, is that now that she knows none of these younger voters are likely to vote for her, she's been conspicuously silent on the matter as of late.

You do realize that he is not actually a Democrat, right? Isn't that the point of having a Party, you try to advance the interest of your candidate? While I understand people like Bernie, and I do as well, I don't think it's beyond the pale for the party leadership to favor the person in the primary that's, you know, actually a member of the party versus the guy who isn't.

Again, I like Bernie and his take on domestic issues. However, a President does not have nearly the influence over domestic policies that they do over foreign policy, and that's Bernie's weakness. Also, I'll just throw this out there, since Bernie is cleaning up with the younger voters whom tend to value honesty (as do most of the people voting for Bernie):

Honest Presidents don't tend to do very well in office. The last 'honest' President I can think of is Carter, and his Presidency was abysmal. I think that he's probably one of the most honest guys to ever hold office, but the office hasn't treated honest folks very well.
