Well, it would be way, way higher than that if we started including all the atrocities done by ISIS, honor killings, and the executions done by various governments for not being Muslim enough. I can't really get on board with the thought that because a lot of people believe something everyone else should respect it. A lot of people used to believe in slavery. Doesn't mean it was such a great idea. What I find so damn weird about the far left is they claim to be as liberal as it gets, but always want to defend the most anti-liberal people on the planet. Hamas was blindly firing rockets at Israel trying to kill anyone they could, as well as executing anyone in their own country who spoke out against them or advocated peace, so people supported them and protested Israel. All because they are such ardent believers in tolerance. Just so fucking weird.
The other side of that is if they weren't crazy maybe there would have been a normal person in the race to begin with. And no, I'm not dismissing the Republican base. I'm just saying the ones who vote in the primaries tend to be a little further on the crazy person side of the spectrum.
An interesting article getting at the heart of what you're discussing. I think at times we treat the liberal movement as one continuous homogenous group. Like the conservative movement, there are differences. However, it appears the liberal movement is attempting to act like adults in sorting out what it means to be liberal. I wish I could say the same of my conservative brothers and sisters. Edit: Another article regarding the right and failure of the GOP.
People no longer want politicians, they want party favours. They want the one who says the most ridiculous things, they want somebody "like them". Except politicians aren't supposed to be clueless, blathering idiots. During the first Repulican debate had they asked a single decent question like "Do any of you know how a bill becomes a law?" Perhaps two or three of them could answer, and NOT the popular candidates. With Trump's history at failing companies-- one after the other, over and OVER-- you would think people wouldn't want to give somebody's olé that the keys to the budget and the nuclear launch codes but they DO...and all that tells me is that the Lowest Common Denominator is now the majority, your fates now determined by low-information voters who both want everything handed to them AND not pay taxes.
Marvel and Disney have now joined with the Atlanta Braves, Dow Chemical, Hilton, Microsoft, the NFL and a crapload of other organizations public condemning anti-LGBT bill HB 757 in Georgia. Holy jesus. Every time I think I can't hear anything shittier from the US, I get surprised, and not in a good way.
I'm tired of you saying the United States is shitty. Why don't you make a point and defend it, so there might be a debate and discussion, instead of dropping your smelly deuce all over my whole country?
This could be a horrific summer if this is true: ISIS has sent 400 fighters to attack Europe, officials say http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/0...ck-europe-in-wave-bloodshed.html?intcmp=hpbt1 "The Islamic State group has trained at least 400 fighters to target Europe in deadly waves of attacks, deploying interlocking terror cells like the ones that struck Brussels and Paris with orders to choose the time, place and method for maximum carnage, officials have told The Associated Press."
I'm sorry my posts upset you. Maybe I should wax endlessly about how much I want to see your tits. God knows that never gets old. My point is that the amount of backward and knee-jerk reactionary talk from our southern brethren is increasing and I find it disconcerting. I'm not a fan of a world where we're taught to be afraid of, or suspicious of, or wary of, any person because of a group they belong to. Be it Muslims, gays or any other group. That's my point. Feel free to call me a bleeding heart liberal.
So, are we going to see major changes in airport security? No more dropping off and picking up at the terminal? Off site security clearance and shuttling cleared people to the terminal? Security profiling as found in Israel for air travel?
At what point do you draw the line in extending/taking away people's rights? Rightly or wrongly, some people disagree with gay marriage on religious grounds. Is it fair to take away their right to practice their religion in the way they see fit because you think it's stupid? I think everyone deserves to be treated equally, but everyone's rights extend only until they infringe on another person's rights. Yes, some religious practices are banned, and rightly so, because they harm other people. Things like child brides, female genital mutilation, honor killings, etc... What is the harm if a business refuses your business based on their deeply held religious beliefs? Hurt feelings? Get the fuck out of here and go find a business that will take your money. When I had my mud racing track I had some idiot redneck running around my property with 2 flags flying off his truck. One was a Confederate flag and the other said "No N******rs." I told him to take his idiotic flags and get the hell off my property. Why? Because I found them offensive and went against what I personally believe is correct. Should I have been forced to allow his flags on MY property at MY business when what he was doing went completely against my personal and deeply held beliefs?
And that's what we get for being PC. You have to give enhanced security checks to 90 year old women equally as much as you do to a demographic that actually has a history of terrorism because you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
Reminds me of the idiot actually bragging to the news cameras "I search Kelsey Grammar just like he's anybody else." Because we all know that Frasier Crane is imbedded in a sleeper cell. When it comes to security, political correctness can be a dangerous thing. And it's not like the TSA are a crack team, or even competent for that matter.
Next time you're at a US airport, check out the TSA. Are they made up of the same ratio racial demographics as the country? Or does it look like certain demographics are given preferential hiring over other demographics? Because of diversity, of course. Fairness. Judged by their merits and not the color of their skin.
Hahahahahaha. This is where we're at as a country now and it's pitiful. Emory President: Students Scared by 'Trump 2016' Chalk Signs "...the messages made them feel concerned and frightened." "The students viewed the messages as intimidation, and they voiced "genuine concern and pain" as a result," "Students at Monday's protest chanted, "You are not listening! Come speak to us, we are in pain!" http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/emory-president-students-scared-trump-2016-chalk-signs-37872700 You can't even make this shit up.
You won't hide a greased BB in your ass in an Israeli airport. That's how they SHOULD run, they don't fuck around with dumpy fat pseudo-mall cops rolling their eyes at you. Trained killers work security there, as they should. The TSA could take tips from Casinos on how to do security. You can't even count cards in your head without being nabbed in those places.
I don't care if you're a bleeding heart liberal or not. There are plenty of liberals who post here who make their arguments about issues without saying the US is shitty. There are shitty people saying and doing shitty things in all sorts of countries. It's not unique to the US.
My father managed a number of remote satellite stations back in the 80's. In like '84 or so a picture came out in the news of a terrorist that was supposedly dead, but he was spotted somewhere in the middle east alive and well. In a picture taken by one of the satellites my father was in charge of. In the early-mid 1980's. I shudder to think where the technology is at now.
You could always identify them and then shoot them in the head. I mean, they can get clear pictures of your face from space if they really want to. Its bonkers.
Not necessarily. It's the whole concept of switches vs timers. There's two ways to kill someone with a bullet. Either you shoot them in a non-vital and they bleed out (timer, they got a few minutes), or you shoot them in a vital and they go out like a light switch. For a head shot on a switch, you're basically aiming for the brain stem in order to sever it and stop the brain from communicating with the body. If you miss that tiny target, they're gonna push the button that sets off the bomb. That's why AR-type weapons are so popular for self-defense, they let you just keep poking holes in a criminal to expedite the bleed out process and hope that one of the rounds either destroys the heart or spinal column (both switches), or deters them enough to get them to stop doing whatever it is that is making you shoot them in the first place. Those suicide bombers are usually jacked up on drugs anyway, so it's gonna take a lot more than a little pain to get them to engage you instead of simply pressing a button or whatever to make themselves go boom. Once they're at the point of strapping a bomb to themselves they become part of that bomb, and for all realistic purposes they're gonna blow somewhere. You might be able to make them detonate early and prevent them from reaching their target, but you aren't gonna stop them. Besides, head shots are for movies and books anyway. Even the best shooters are aiming center mass (unless it's super close range, then you double tap center and put one in the upper deck). Simply too much movement upstairs, and the rounds that miss are still hitting something. Too much risk.
