What I find most interesting is how everyone mentions what could possibly happen if Trump doesn't get the GOP nomination and no one brings up what could happen if Bernie doesn't get the Dem nomination. I haven't seen any Republican near riots this cycle, but Bernie supporters have been involved in quite a few. I have a feeling if Bernie doesn't get the nod, there will be fireworks.
I love you toytoy, I really do, but I'm not sure what you're watching to come up with this contention. The fact is of the 5 candidates currently running, only 1 candidate has had to cancel an event due to rioting and it isn't Sanders (I'm thinking of a city that rhymes with 'Chicago'). You are espousing a Trump talking point - i.e. 'my supporters are not violent, it's those Bernie supporters causing all the problems...' And pretty much like every other Trump contention, it's patently false. Check out the fact checking on CNN and other websites for the validity of most of Trump's contentions.
The rally was cancelled because it was surrounded by Bernie supporters who were yelling, threatening, and throwing things. The road block in Arizona with traffic backed up for miles? Bernie supporters. People stealing/destroying campaign signs? The only ones I've seen are Bernie supporters. And there is this, which granted isn't scientific by any means, but it pretty much mirrors what I've witnessed in real life:
Well Sanders will have lost more because of pure numbers and less because of party mechanisms than Trump will. I could see some of the dumber trump fans losing their shit if he loses a second ballot. Somehow these same people will ignore or rationalize Trump pay to play business past but can't understand he can't put together a way to synch up the nomination within the republican rules.
So in Memphis today they asked 107 parents to come to a church and explain why their children were habitually truant from school. In exchange, the parents would not be arrested. Want to take a wild guess how many of the parents showed up? Bingo. Zero. Maybe our education system is not as broken as some would have us believe, but it's actually the parents that are broken. Imagine that. http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story/31696193/parents-fail-to-show-up-to-truancy-meeting
Hit 'em where it hurts, the cock. XHamster bans North Carolina in wake of LBGT discrimination. The entire state. Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them.” “Back in March, we had 400,000 hits for the term ‘Transsexual’ from North Carolina alone,” he said. “People from that state searched ‘Gay’ 319,907 times,” he added. “I think that porn has the power to do what Bruce Springsteen can’t." HA.
I felt Bernie still had a good shot with the way the map was changing, but it's starting to look slimmer by the day. He's won the last 7 states, but he still appears to be behind in New York and Pennsylvania. States I thought his momentum would have changed by now. Unless we start seeing repeats of Michigan (not impossible) he can't even catch up in the regular delegates. He's won 45% of the delegates in play and needs about 56% of the remainder to win the vote as far as the popular election goes. Yeah, it could happen. The other main reason I'm less optimistic now though is I thought the superdelegates would just flood to the popular vote if the momentum shifted. Looking at everything's that's happening in the Republican party, and then seeing how the DNC is quieter, but perhaps just as hardcore in sticking to the establishment I don't know anymore. It seems like such an insane idea, but with the potential that the Republicans might just randomly pick someone who doesn't even have any delegates it certainly doesn't seem crazy any more that they'll take Clinton *if* she's back by a slim margin.
An interesting article on Fox News precipitated the destruction of the Republican party. I think the article has some merit, but the causes are more complicated than this article wants to acknowledge. However, the idea that profit drove FoxNews, and how they went after that profit is interesting. Now a word about the 'Establishment' and why superdelegates will stick with them. The Establishment knows something that Trump, Cruz and on some points, Sanders don't: and that is HOW to govern in this society. I have said it before, and I'll say it again: if you don't understand the system, you don't get things done. The reality is in domestic affairs Presidents have limited powers, on purpose. Most of the things that the candidates are 'promising' are things that they can't actually do. Now if people were actually educated by the media on this stuff, they'd understand that. People just assume the President, along with Jesus (or Allah in Obama's case) come up with some shit a voila, we have new laws. The downticket races, which usually aren't sexy, are actually more important to domestic issues. Clinton and Kasich understand this because they actually have experience in national positions. This is why the Republican establishment is freaking out. They know their two frontrunners are not going to help their downticket party members at all, and likely will hurt their chances. In the current climate, to get anything done, you need to have a President and Congress of the same party. Clinton knows this and is doing what she can to push the downticket races. Sanders isn't. Now don't take the above as my personal bias. I hate the party system. I think it sucks, and only benefits the wealthy and status quo. But given the reality of where we are, that's what we have to work with.
Speaking of downticket race. If this was any more ironic it'd be wearing horn rimmed glasses: TN Co-sponsor of pending anti-LBGT bathroom bill ordered by state AG to move offices because he is accused of harassing 34 women. Further investigation pending. 'Tennessee attorney general report found the Franklin Republican engaged in inappropriate physical contact and potentially poses a "continuing risk to unsuspecting women."' 'Slatery's memo, dated Wednesday, states that the investigation has included interviews with 34 people. Information gleaned from those interviews revealed Durham: "Occupied a superior position of power to the women." "Obtained personal contact information from the women under the guise of legislative business or another legitimate reason." "Initiated contact about non-legislative matters and attempted to meet the women alone." "Usually involved alcohol in his interaction with women." "Made inappropriate comments of a sexual nature or engaged in inappropriate physical contact with some women." '
Rats are deserting the sinking ship: Top Republicans may skip GOP convention http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/12/politics/republican-convention-2016/index.html
Republicans are the most hypocritical politicians, except for Democrats, who are equally as hypocritical.
Well, in fairness to Sanders he has been in congress for 25 years so he's not short on experience. He's also performing better than Hillary in match ups against Republican candidates across the board, so if the general population likes his vision better than Hillary's that actually could help down ticket races. I don't think it's so much that he doesn't know how to govern, he just doesn't like the way it works right now, and for good reason as you said yourself you hate the two party system. A lot of his ideas just aren't going to happen. Making colleges 100% public is one that comes to mind that has no chance. Other ideas though, like the single payer health system and taking steps to move manufacturing jobs back home (gaining a lot of traction even among republicans) have been very popular for a long time. Whether or not a more establishment congress could ever get behind them regardless of where public support is at is another question... it's not hard to imagine them saying 'yeah I support that with the public, but -' and then misconstrue or pick apart minor sections of bills as to why they couldn't vote for them and hence postpone them indefinitely.
Things that never make national news: http://www.tennessean.com/story/new...-while-making-arrest-east-nashville/82968844/ So this happened Tuesday night in Nashville. A cop responds to shots fired at a public housing project, he observes a male assaulting a woman and attempts to detain him. The suspect attacks him. Notice that the only people intervening are attacking the cop. There are at least 50 people there, not a single one called 911, tried to diffuse the situation, or do anything a normal human being would do. They just stood slack jawed watching or recording. Notice also that the cop didn't shoot anyone even though he was being attacked by a mob. This is our tax dollars at work. Free public housing, food stamps, free health care, free Obama phone and every single one of these assholes just had a chance to step up and be a member of society and their community....and completely fucking failed. So what was the outcome of this attack? The cop chased the shit bag down and arrested him, plus one 17 year old was arrested. Now the housing authority is going to install 150 new cameras (At taxpayer expense) and have extra cops work overtime (At taxpayer expense) to patrol a neighborhood that is already a drain on society. It's tax day and I sure feel good about funding this bullshit. Oh yeah, less then 24 hours before this? A cop was stabbed in the same project.
Holy shit. There is a new theme park opening in Kentucky. If you want to have a job there, you MUST be a Christian....no ifs, ands, or buts. Not a Christian? You don't get a job. The kicker? They're also seeking a tourism sales tax rebate which could be up to $18M. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/04/1...boat-then-must-be-christian.html?intcmp=hpbt4
If you're not a Christian, why would you want to work there? Being around those people would be torture to most of us with brains. I don't know that applying for a tourism rebate is out of line. Lots of people travel to their "creation museum" and spend money in Kentucky. I still love the idea of celebrating the tortuous drowning deaths of nearly the entire population of the earth - humans and animals (not fish) - by a benevolent god. Beautiful!
Because you have a family you're trying to provide food, clothes, and shelter for and you don't have a job? They're also asking the people, who they said they will not employ because of their religious beliefs, to subsidize their business. That's pretty much bullshit.
Or just evict everyone involved, rather than posting cameras. There's usually a waiting list for housing assistance. I'm sure the open spots would help someone.
The Holy Land Experience-- a somewhat hilarious Christian theme park in Orlando charges the same admission price as The Magic Kingdom and it doesn't pay any taxes. Imagine being able to horde millions of dollars just for having an imaginary friend. Because that is EXACTLY what it is On the other hand, this thing in Kentucky would be the people-watching experience of a lifetime: it's like every Waffle House customer in the same theme park where the staff has to have a pre-req belief in a wooden boat that can fit four million animals. The crowd won't be as populated as Disney's, but to be fair it at least will weigh the same.
http://gizmodo.com/facebook-employees-asked-mark-zuckerberg-if-they-should-1771012990 That's pretty fucking powerful.
