Booker is the single best talker I have ever seen in office. He is a great combination of intellectual, a lover country, man of the people, and has a silver tongue like I have never heard. His time as mayor in Newark made serious positive change to its skyrocketing crime and poverty.

If you were to ask me who I would want as President, he would be my first choice, by a long by margin. Watch him talk about America in his interviews, he will put a smile on your face.

Everything that Crown said, including how he's who I wish were running for President. He first got my attention during Hurricane Sandy. He had one of the few houses in his area that still had power and he was letting people come in and warm up and get something to eat. He was out on the streets helping dig people out and bring supplies and being on search teams for people who were missing. He was also super responsive and active on Twitter during that time, which sounds so silly but it was the only way people were understanding what was happening and getting the most up to date news. I liked how he was talking right to people and wasn't giving a shit about going through layers of bureaucracy and PR management before he said anything. This was right as it was happening, before the organized relief efforts kicked in. It was just really comforting and inspiring to see a politician actually DOING shit and being in the trenches with people and being a part of the community, especially in a place like Newark where the residents have historically really been ignored or kicked around.

Agree with both of what you guys said. He's an impressive dude, and honestly, when his name kept popping up for these things, reminded me of Obama. Light on high level experience, but heavy on charisma, charm, and looking the part. But like we've mentioned here, VP's are very important getting things done behind the scenes. Like him or hate him, Cheney did tons. And while he's a goof, Biden knows EVERYONE. And the Supreme Court stuff is crazy. Talk about heavy lifting, and he was never even a judge.

In summation, Cory Booker is gonna be a player, I just don't think he's quite ready yet.

Evan Bayh would make a good choice. He was almost Mr. Obama's VP, and I've thought for a long time that the presidency was his for the taking. I always wondered why he hasn't run.

The Democratic VP candidate choice probably comes down to if/when Mrs. Clinton gets indicted. If it's before the convention, then Mr. Sanders would be the presumptive nominee, unless there are some other rules in that case, and he would want someone young and charismatic. If it's after the convention, Mr Biden will step in and save the Democratic party. He has already expressed regret over not seeking the nomination, and as a two-term VP, he would be difficult to beat. Imagine that the justice department announces the indictment sometime after the convention, saving Mr. Biden all that trouble of campaigning through the primary process. Mr. Biden can capitalize on the fact that although he talks too much and says dumb things, he at least tells the truth, in contrast to the former nominee Mrs. Clinton. Mr. Biden can choose almost anyone - whoever is up next in the party.

The first time I watched an interview with him in 2008 I told my wife "That man will be President someday" and I've never doubted it since. We were in AWE of what he was saying. He looks like Tesla compared to anybody else who ran for President. His humour, his knowledge, he seems to have a plan that really, truly makes sense for just about any subject. And he wants feedback from anyone who listens. THIS is The Guy.

This guy and his entourage stopped an armed robbery while in his way to be sworn in as mayor of Newark. Seriously. The guy is Daredevil.

Okay. Good point. I had purged my mind of Bush's de facto abdication leaving us w/ Cheney.

If Trump is elected he could get bored after 6 months in office and just wander off to do more reality TV.

Now I have to worry about his pick for VP.

    Thanks a bunch.

Really? I think that that guy equating the Nazi salute with a black power fist is the blood-boiling thing. Or that people think it's an inappropriate gesture at all. Or that they think it started with the Black Lives Matter movement and doesn't have any significance or meaning outside of that. I mean out of all the things that could make your blood boil, who fucking cares.

Would the same thing happen if it were a bunch of kids throwing up the peace sign? If so, I don't think I'd be as mad about the second thing. (Still mad, but at least on the same level as most things that make me not particularly care for the military.)

What are you saying, 'nerds? That black people own the "fist in the air" photo pose? Because they don't.
    Don't give them that power.
The fist in the air belongs to all of us, not just black people.

Whoever wants to own it - can.

But wearing a uniform representative of our military means you don't get to do it.

I didn't serve, I have more friends that did than not and spent my entire professional career very close to the military. So this is nothing more than an observation and based on what I have been told directly by members of the armed services. Direct quote here: "There is no black, white or brown in the military, only green." I take that to mean that you are military first before you are anything else and that is why it works. Now, it's important to remember that these ladies in the picture are essentially college kids who probably have not been fully subjected to the military ethos and corps d'espirit yet and that may account for why they felt it was acceptable to pose for this picture.

Something to consider before we go crazy about it one way or another.

At Harvard female students had been protesting that the school allows "Men Only" clubs to exist on campus. So in response Harvard announced sanctions against ALL single gender clubs and organizations. Guess who started howling about that ruling?

"Dozens of students marched around Harvard Yard Monday, saying the move unfairly hurts Harvard women.

Shouting “Hear her Harvard,” the protesters — who were mostly women, many belonging to all-women final clubs or sororities — said Harvard’s restrictions would deprive women of spaces away from men."

    http://www.wbur.org/2016/05/10/harvard-final-clubs-policies-protest

This whole protest everything movement is slowly eating itself.

I've been laughing at it all day. "Double standards should only work in OUR favour!" These poor, spoiled little rich bitches. Thank god for their professional victim complex for whenever equality rears its ugly head.

They are being ridiculed huge for this and they deserve every inch of it.

I feel for the parents of the kids who are recognized at this rally. To realize, via national media, what a catastrophic failure as a human being you are to society at large has to be earth shattering. It had to be a proud moment for them when their kid was accepted to Harvard and now to have it turn into this type of nightmare....sheeesh.

I have issue with exclusionary clubs in college. It is not a University's priority to create a "safe space" for adults. Outside of you being raped, robbed, murdered, their responsibility is negative. The entire point of college is to be challenge minds, challenge preconceptions, and the durability of condoms.

The overlap in this group of sociology, philosophy, and classic lit majors must be astounding.

Yeah, and if I wanted to get a tattoo of a Hindu good luck charm -- one steeped in history and culture that is supposed to protect me from evil, one who's English meanings are luck, glory, security, prosperity -- a swastika would not be a good choice, even that is what it meant until Hitler fucked it up for everyone.

Seriously, the swastika has a whole bunch of badass history. But no one fucking cares anymore because the Nazi's liked the aesthetics and propaganda potential of it.

If I got a swastika inked on my body even with pure intentions (if I could even find an artist to do it in the first place), people are immediately going to think I'm a racist, nazi-sympathizer, anti-semitic, etc. because like the major said in the article, it would "appear inappropriate." It's one of those "duh!!" things.

Those cadets might have had the intention of a raised fist meaning something else (or they could have said it was for something else during the inquiry), but the fact remains that in modern day it is associated with political stances. And they made that obvious political gesture while in uniform. They aren't black or white, they're green. Fucking act like it.

And if you aren't acting like it, at least own it that you made a mistake, take whatever reprimand they're gonna give you, and learn from it. Everyone makes mistakes, it's called being human. And sometimes, people own those mistakes, are honest about it, and then learn from it. That's the hard part, and it's called "being an adult."
