Or just total 100% isolationism as a foreign policy. The world is too small and the US is too big and powerful, it's just silly. Gary John always looks like he just got out of court.
I am surprised no one is talking about Brexit on here. I've been learning little bits and pieces of the topic here and there but its hard for me to get a handle on the attitudes simmering in the UK that would cause such a contentious and possibly disastrous piece of policy to come to light. I saw John Oliver's take on it last night, and as usual he was funny and well spoken, but I can't imagine a reason why a nation that prides itself on being civil and educated would decide to exit from the EU.
I have to run at the moment so I can't write much, but if I was Germany I would want to get the hell out. They're the main force holding the EU together and throw money around that the nations piss away and then come back asking for more within 2 years. They're constantly called bullied for suggesting that countries stop being so stupid about the money they give, or just for asserting themselves in the typical ways a regional superpower would. There are reasons to stay, I just think they aren't very good ones. I know less about why England wants out.
I understand why Germany might want out. They're parenting and bank rolling a bunch of ill mannered teenagers who take their money for granted and accept no responsibility for what they do.
In a follow up: "Under pressure from Republican leaders, the Justice Department on Monday afternoon reversed itself and released a full, unredacted transcript of the Orlando terrorist's 911 call on the night of the massacre" http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/06/2...t-orlando-shooters-911-call.html?intcmp=hpbt1 Notice the fact that it is called a "Massacre" and not an "Terrorist Attack"? Subtle.
Is it so hard to just come out and say it? Islam is terrible. It's that simple. Watching that FBI retard cringe his way through that press conference....these guys are the TOP cops in America? That's scary as fuck.
The issue, to me, is the mental gymnastics being played to avoid calling something what it is. Why is it such a fucking crime to criticize a belief system that's stuck in the Middle Ages? These same people have no issue lumping straight, white men into the "evil" category while ignoring the atrocities committed overseas in the name of Islam and family "honor". And it's these same people calling Israel war criminals while the other side swears upon its death. It's just fucking mind-blowing the shit people ignore in order to maintain their narrative.
Heh, funny timing. I just made a post on FB that got liked by Gary Johnson or whomever run's his media arm. (And no, it wasn't about rock climbing.)
"The federal government runs more than 80-means tested programs that provide cash, food, housing, medical care and targeted social services to poor and low-income Americans. Government spent $916 billion on these programs in 2012 alone, and roughly 100 million Americans received aid from at least one of them, at an average cost of $9,000 per recipient. (That figure doesn’t include Security or Medicare.)" http://www.theamericanconservative.com/2014/02/11/the-great-societys-great-cost/ Thanks LBJ
The implementation of the Great Society was supposed to help elevate the poor. Key word: "Help". Somewhere along the line it became a lifestyle. We have 3rd and 4th generation recipients who've never worked a day in their life, have no plans to, and have contributed exactly zero to the society. After 50 years and approximately $23 Trillion dollars, I think it's probably safe to say it failed and it's time to scrap it.
"From a completely objective standpoint, being poor in America is still fucking awesome." Fucking what? Have you been poor in this country? It's correlated with a shorter life span, harder life for your kids, and just about every negative outcome you can expect from life. In no way is it fun being poor in America, and the average recipient of those programs is a twenty something single mother. You think they don't deserve a little help? Yes those programs cost money, and it's a hell of a lot better for us as a society to help her out so her kids don't grow up to be even bigger burdens on the state. Grow up, take a good hard look around and tell me that a single mother is "entitled" and "privileged" to get $9k a year. And then tell me that if your daughter got knocked up by an asshole that disappeared you wouldn't let her accept government help. I don't get the hate, or the anecdotes about welfare. Do you personally know anyone like this?
I'm not going to speak for Clutch, but I took that comment to mean "compared to being poor in other countries" not "compared to being rich." I've been to other countries, and the poor there do not have anywhere near the access to assistance, health care and programs that the poor in America have. Being poor in rural America (like West Virginia coal mine areas) sucks balls. But, for the most part, poor people in urban areas have a place to live with utilities and cellphones, don't go to bed hungry, have access to public transportation and recreation opportunities. This is not true in a lot of other countries. I wouldn't say poor people in America have it easy, but if you're going to be poor, America is the place to do it. (We're #1! We're #1!)
Cnn needs to drop the farce and just change their name to the Clinton News Network. It was over the top when she was campaigning against Bernie and now that the primaries are over it's gotten completely out of hand. I have never seen a network so shamelessly or blatantly blare propaganda for a nominee. Not even Fox news. I take back every defense I have ever made about that shit fest of a news network. Worst major media outlet ever.
Agreed. It's a crazy thing to consider that being poor in America means having all of your physical needs met along with a few luxuries or wants.
So I heard Trumps campaign is essentially broke? Maybe this is how the RNC has decided to stop his nomination if thats possible?
Cuban is getting into it as well, basically calling out Trump. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/06/mark-cuban-trump-finances-224603
Trump isn't as rich as he says he is, but I kind of doubt he couldn't pump 200 million in if he wanted. Maybe I'm wrong though.
