On Joe Rogan's latest podcast he interviewed a former defense attorney and they discuss the justice system and how it treats black and white defendants differently. They also discuss how the cops are generally doing good things. It's a very unbiased and interesting conversation. Makes me think that to change the relationship between black communities and the police we need to change how the system operates and treats black people. Change it from the bottom up.

Look, I tried to make a middle of the road statement in hopes the facts surrounding why the black community is compelled to start equality/awareness movements were not disregarded. Instead, someone cherry picked the exact opposite, proving my point and BLM's point in one flippant post. This thread turns into an echo-chamber for pages, then when someone disagrees, siting facts no less, they basically get called a liar. Or a liberal, as if that's supposed to be offensive. We have lost the only two black posters (regular posters) because a few of the frequent contributors in this thread completely disregarded these men's experiences, values, and life trials they have lived as black Americans. "Disregard" is a light word for what actually happened, as these guys felt it necessary to leave the board entirely. So, continue on, by all means. Whittle down the number of posters who want to participate in an honest debate.

So translating Comey's statement, the FBI will charge you with a crime providing you are not Hillary Clinton. Makes sense.

He kept stating that there was no intent. Day 1 of "welcome to classified information" training had us learn that intent didn't matter at all.

What about the part where he said they couldn't find any evidence of someone being charged for anything similar?

Yeah, no conflict here. A sitting president campaigning for his party's candidate who is under criminal investigation by his own justice department. His own AG meets privately with the defendant's high profile husband during an ongoing investigation to talk about "grandkids", and a few days later the FBI just happens to say nothing to see here. She should already be in jail. This is the kind of shit we get when the press sells out and fails to do it's job and people are too stupid to care about the giant middle finger the establishment is giving us. Nixon resigned over a few seconds of taped conversation and this reptilian bitch is running for president and, unbelievably, actually has a shot at winning. Everything is upside down in this country.

This seems to be a recurring theme with a "started good, ended up in shit-fests" groups. Think of say Occupy Wall Street.

MisterMetokur explains with his proffered example of Social Justice Warriors:

Now obviously, I am sorta scraping them all under the carpet as started out good and became big tumors on their own original message, but I think that's what happens.

This entire Clinton situation is making me increasingly aware that strings are indeed being pulled and not even very stealthily.

Reckless drivers don't intend to run over people with their car, but it's still their fault when it happens. And they are held accountable.

    FBI Director Comey on Clinton:

"To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now."

The statement essentially boils down to "equal treatment does not apply here." Apparently it's okay to commit a crime if you're ignorant of it, ignorance isn't the same as negligence, and there was not malice. Except you know, the part where she wiped the server hard drives and shredded documents to cover it up.

I wonder what cushy job Loretta Lynch gets after Clinton wins?

I saw this post from a lawyer on Reddit.

    tl;dr:
That line of thinking sounds reasonable to me. Frankly though, it's irritating as fuck seeing the authorities have someone powerful dead to rights and then hearing, "They're getting a slap on the wrist. You'll be anally fisted if you do the same thing."

And we all know this is how the grownup world works. To be blunt, I think a lot of the anger over this email clusterfuck and now outrage has less to do with the fact that the rules appear to may have been bent for her and more to do with the fact that her tenure as SoS isn't generally seen as exemplary. Guarantee you that if the common consensus was that she was a brilliant SoS who did a masterful job the only people who'd give a shit about her emails are her partisan enemies and pompous hypocrites.

Which I think is disingenuous because she's no longer SoS. If she still was SoS and was refusing to step down this would be a valid criticism. She's not asking for a promotion, she's running for POTUS. If enough voters think this should disqualify her from being president, she won't be elected.

So because she is not currently the SoS and running POTUS, that makes it ok if enough people think so?

So it's perfectly fine because that's how the "grownup world works"? It's not some jackass in your office getting special treatment, it's the Secretary of State fucking up and then trying to cover it up then getting special treatment from the Feds and likely the Justice Department. It's pretty clear-cut corruption. She could be the best Secretary of State in history, it shouldn't matter. The complacency around this is unnerving. Good lord, maybe Trump is the right pick.

If I ever got caught doing something non-work related on the state network, I could be fired...no hearing, no nothing, just a search history and I'm gone. Why am I able to be punished for far less of a crime? Why is this perfectly okay with some people and merely looked upon as right-wing propaganda?
