Because when black people get emotional and upset and angry about being treated unfairly by the police they get shot and killed and everyone says it's fine because why didn't they just stay calm and comply with the cop's every order.
I think he was implying that she was deliberately lying in the moment to paint the scene in her favour. I'm not saying that happened; just that the quotes imply that she was knowingly being dishonest at the time. Obviously if someone is ever in such a dramatic and tragic situation you'd expect them to be emotional.
Yes on both counts. If it's true it's pretty fucked up. I'm at work so I don't have time to really fact check the article but it seemed pretty legit and came from someone I trust.
I was only responding to his very last bit. Some people see her calmness as confusing at best and suspicious at worst. Others saw it as completely heartbreaking that she had to maintain her composure in fear that she'd be next, to continue to call him sir and respect the person that just killed her boyfriend out of fear.
If she did in fact lie in the heat of the moment, that's some serious cold blooded sociopathy that very few would be capable of.
What part of "theconservativetreehouse.com says a black man was an armed robbery suspect" sounds like a credible source to you?
Which is why I'm not exactly jumping to condemn her based on the reporting from a site called the conservative treehouse where they don't use their real names, especially when they also seem to be implying that black people are now trying to get shot (or are grateful when their loved ones are shot) by the cops as a ticket for more handouts. (There were some more post but this is re:sociopath)
I'm at work and I haven't had time to verify anything, but the post came from someone I trust who is usually reliable. It might be crap. It might not.
No. It is crap. There is no doubt about it. From Snopes: "The Conservative Treehouse article employed a series of half-truths, misleading claims, and unsupported speculation in an attempt to justify the fatal force used by an officer during a traffic stop in Minnesota. No real evidence has yet come to light supporting the notion that Castile had been involved in an armed robbery or was carrying a firearm illegally when he was killed."
I will say that I would totally believe it was a stop because of the matching profile, and as easy as it would be to say "oh sure of course he stopped a black guy for looking like some other black guy, how racist," I would consider that a perfectly legitimate stop (and not racist). I would also totally believe that he told them they were stopped for a tail light rather than being stopped as a potential armed robbery suspect, based on how I've heard cops talk about these kinds of stops before. But that revelation would not change pretty much any of my opinions about the matter.
I will say that the night that ExH2 tried to shoot me, I had the presence of mind to turn on my phone recorder and get audio. My voice on the recorder is eerily calm, and even to this day I have no idea how or why. The detectives complimented me several times on maintaining an even, measured tone. Stop thinking about "should" or "would" because until you know - you've got no fucking idea.
My feeling is that if this were the case, we would have gotten a statement from the department by now, to at least deflect some of the anger.
Yeah, Ive seen the whole, he wasn't just stopped because he had a tail light out! She was lying! He must have done something to cause him to get shot. All insinuations and speculations. I did see some local news clip with audio that was most likely the cops calling in the car/guy just before he pulled him over. It was because he thought he might match a robbery suspect. The freeze frames of her video the supposedly show his gun are laughably blurry. People are actively trying to find a "thug" angle for this guy and situation it is really gross. That conservativetreehouse article is a fucking joke. Scanner: http://www.kare11.com/news/police-scanner-audio-1/267042738 Sick as it is, I am sure there are quote unquote "agents" that swoop in like ambulance chasing lawyers, or just are ambulance chasing lawyers, to help set up the social media income and media deals for people that find themselves in these situations. Im not really against them setting up go fund me sites. If they want to take charity and people are willing to give it. The fuck?
That aspect of this is morbidly interesting. I can't find the article I'm thinking of exactly, but the money donated in support after these tragedies gets complicated. For example, a lot of money was donated to Newtown. How does that money get split up? Is it all equal? Does someone who lost their wife deserve less than someone who lost their child? That's just the money. What about all the donated items such as teddybears? Here is a recent read about donations after tragedies: When disaster relief brings anything but relief
Part of me really, REALLY wants to see someone just go full-fucking-throttle through those people on the interstate. Did Rodney King not teach us anything?
I was just thinking the same thing. The police should pull out, re-open the freeway, and let these dumb asses play live action Frogger. The freeway has been shut down for hours.
Reginald Denny was the semi-truck driver that stopped in the Rodney King riots and was killed as a result. If he just put his foot down and plowed through the protesters, he'd be alive. To me, the lesson to be learned is that when a riot starts to block the road and comes at you, put your foot down and mow them over.
