Not at all, cause she would be getting curb stomped by a legit challenger. She's not well liked, she's been involved in a lot of shady stuff, and the majority of her traction is #NeverTrump and being the first woman. I have multiple friends voting for her that are like "she sucks, but there is no way we can have Trump as President." Insulting would be if she was leading by a landslide in the polls.
He readfirmed it at a press conference too when a reporter asked him if he thought it was a bad precedent to be setting. His answer was something along the lines of if we had a better president Russia would be scared to hack into the DNC.
And I'm sure if Hillary brushed off someone hacking her opponent who she had very strong business ties with that would not at all be crucified. There would be so many criticisms of Hillary that would be so much more valid if they weren't completely dripping with hypocrisy.
This was a tongue-in-cheek comment and everyone is losing their shit, even Republicans. He was attempting to illustrate just how ridiculous the idea of the Russians doing this is, and if you think about it, it was actually a brilliant move designed to steal the thunder of the Dems on their most important night. The night Bill Clinton comes out with his speech and everyone talks about how human Hillary is. Do you really think the press would reward them mightily? If anything it was probably some pissed off 20 something Bernie supporter.
I've been entertained all afternoon reading stories and comments about this whole thing. The Dems kept implying that it was some Russian/Trump alliance that hacked the DNC and Trump said basically in response to those claims... Hey Russia, if it was you....did you find those deleted e-mail from Hillary's server? How the hell that got twisted into him asking/telling the Russians to hack anything is amazing. Never mind the fact that if they do have those deleted e-mails, it means the hack was done 4 years ago against an illegal private server that belonged to HRC. It's all about deflection, no one is talking about the Dems rigging the nomination and other questionable content contained in the leaked e-mails, now they're screaming about Trump's act of treason. That isn't an act of treason.
This election cycle, you may as well shit in an envelope. Clinton is corrupt as fuck, Trump's a dipshit show, Johnson is delusional, and Stein is off in her boat doing loops in a kiddy pool. This amount of 'lesser of two evils' logic is getting to me. So many for-Bernie people are going bananas about voting for Clinton while many are spitefully going to vote for Trump. Jill Stein? Gary Johnson? Are they getting a podium at the Presidential debate, too? The whole thing has got me going, "Might as well vote for Trump, he'll only be in there for four years and all of his shit is too insane to pass any sort of House." If I chuck a vote Hillary's way, I feel pretty much the same, save she "plays better" for a lot of more powerful folks in the US. The loss of Bernie and the clear meddling that happened in States like Nevada and previous Clinton fuck-ups like the email scandals has really infuriated a lot of people. They feel like if someone can so blatantly skirt the law and run for POTUS fuck it, burn it to the ground and throw in the spite-ballot for Trump.
Man, I don't like Trump, but the blatant hypocrisy while screaming about Trump's 'dishonesty' is pretty damn impressive. If there was any doubt left that it's become standard to silence people by calling them racist and sexist rather than arguing with or refuting them, it has since been removed completely. This is one of the many reasons I'm amazed at how terribly Clinton is mishandling her campaign. I'm not totally sure how much of this is her actual strategy at rebounding and how much is the media just fucking things up for her. Edit: Currently, the front of cnn.com This couldn't get any funnier. What an insane election.
My personal fav chuckle is how the same people who are like "leave Hillary alone, all the judicial investigations have found her not guilty" are the same ones who complain our criminal justice and political system are skewed and corrupted to favor the rich and powerful. Makes you go, hmmmm.
I don't quite know how to put this so here goes. Bill Clinton never got so balls deep in his scandals as Hillary has, but he definitely long dicked a bee hive, or two. Yet, he knew when to pull out. I don't think Hillary does. She thinks she's so smart she can spin anything, and she's too temperamental to admit to her faults. She's overestimated how many Americans are as dumb as her hard line supporters. Don't get me wrong, this is a stupid country. It's just not that stupid. Blame deflection has a place in politics, but she's acting as if it's the answer to every criticism. And if you don't think Trump is crazy like a fox, consider his Russia comments. Think about what people will be saying a week from now, and in many places are already saying.
You all may remember a few years ago when there were some pretty "WTF!?" posts on here as those of us near Toronto watched a cop plink away (as in target shoot) at a guy on a street car, eventually killing him. I remember watching it with my parents, live on TV, and said, "we are watching that cop murder that guy". Well, the verdict came back, and he's getting 6 years for attempted murder. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/james-forcillo-sentencing-1.3698183 Interestingly enough the defence fought for a lesser sentence because he was a cop... personally, I think the cop should get more because he's a cop. Regardless, it's good to see him get convicted and some time, but I think he should have gotten more.
I'm of two minds on that one. The argument for arresting and charging the officer are obvious. Some counterpoints: - I'll stand corrected here, but aren't police trained to shoot to kill? Meaning, if the situation required a gun (in the officer's judgement), then that officer will not shoot to maim or cripple. They are trained in all or nothing (I think). - I lived for six years in Winnipeg. The summer before I arrived a mentally unstable man killed a sleeping guy on a Greyhound bus, beheaded him and ate his heart on the highway as the passengers watched in horror. That man, Vince Li, was declared incompetent, sent to a mental institution just outside Winnipeg and within three years was allowed visits into town and minimal restrictions. The doctors say he's stable if he stays on his meds. I guess if one day he can no longer take the side effects or convinces himself he's cured, we'll cross our fingers that no one dies. This kid was mentally unstable on a bus, exposing himself to women, brandishing a knife and threatening civilians. The video is certainly graphic but having seen the Li debacle I can't say this is a horrible outcome. The alternative in our system - especially since no one was hurt - would be a slap on the wrist and probably very little mental health follow up. It would be a ticking time bomb. - We've had years to analyze this. The police on scene had seconds. On the whole your average police officer is the first person called when: someone is unstable; domestic violence; traffic shit; crisis situations. They are in some jurisdictions criminally undertrained in de-escalation, hand to hand combat and mental illness, yet they get there first and have to stabilize all manner of situations. I think the cop's training failed him. I think the system is broken and failed the dead kid who really should have had better access to mental health services. And overall it's terribly sad. I am, however, more at ease when a violent unstable man in dead than I am when he's on a day visit to my neighbourhood from Selkirk Mental Hospital. I know that's harsh.
Yes, they are trained to shoot to kill, when in a position where lethal force is required. This kid was just sitting, by himself, in a street car, while the cop slowly and methodically tried to shoot him. There were 6 or so shots over 30 seconds... during which time the kid was no threat to anyone. THAT is the part that is the attempted murder... he shouldn't have been shooting at him in the first place. It was like watching the cop play a video game and try and figure out how to kill the kid from a distance... he was repositioning, shooting, seeing where he went wrong, aiming, shooting again... while all the kid did was try and hide on the street car. If you watch the video, you'll see what I mean. I totally get cops and lethal force, but this cop absolutely bypassed the whole "is it a lethal force situation?" step.
Hmmmmm....a Philly NPR reporter is saying the DNC Action Committee is going to try to stage a citizen's arrest of Hillary during her speech tonight. https://twitter.com/BobbyAllyn/status/758773925069266945
I would enjoy watching the ensuing beat down they receive from pretty much every security force in attendance.
That's pretty much what I was thinking. I seriously doubt they thought this through thoroughly, but it would be fun. I'm just not holding out much hope in either event transpiring unfortunately.
I doubt a citizens arrest will happen if everyone is sleeping from this god awful speech. I mean, fuck. After listening to Obama last night, you can see why she got this far this time. Because she's not competing with him.
What kind of bullshit is that? All I can imagine is a little group of hipster 20-something, too skinny, little fuck Bernie supporters yelling "thitithens awetht, thitithens awetht!" I'd love to see that shit, but I haven't watched a single second of either convention.
