Yeah I really can't take it either. I was expecting something a little substantial, I don't really know why. And the camera on all channels is a little too close for comfort, it's really weirding me out. I'm tapping out on this one.
Trump was a major Clinton supporter and donated heavily to Bill's campaign. Hillary has her Wall Street speeches and independent wealth. I could easily see Trump as a democrat (he once was) and Hillary as a republican (her mouth says dem, her actions say GOP). It's one of the many weird layers to this election.
I think she means the outfits? You can tell one person has being doing this their whole life and one hasn't.
Yeah I was really surprised she wore red. Any lawyer will tell you not to wear red to court. As silly as it sounds, Clinton needs all the help she can get.
Never mind red is one of the hardest colours to broadcast due to chroma subsampling... it generally looks like shit. You'd figure that she'd have learned that with all the years of experience she's had dealing with television appearances.
I don't know why I punish myself like this by watching a debate like that. There were a lot of topics that were touched on in the debate but the one the stuck out most is money. Both of these two have real issues with it. Don has a lot to hide in terms of who he really is as a business man and how he contributes in terms of taxes. Hill has a lot to hide in terms of her and her husbands foundation and maybe even other ways as well. Now, the links below probably don't tell the whole story but it definitely start to paint a picture of who these people are going to be as Presidents. This tells you who they are beholden to and give you an indication as to how much of what they promise that they may actually deliver. So, follow the money and have a look: List of Hillary's largest contributors: https://www.opensecrets.org/pres16/contrib.php?id=N00000019 List of Donald's largest contributors: https://www.opensecrets.org/pres16/contrib.php?&id=N00023864
I mean, I guess at this point, based on what the two candidates say, the truth is irrelevant. But, Trump donated heavily to Bill Clinton's campaign? I thought the Trump Foundation donated to the Clinton Foundation, for their AIDS & Malaria funding, which he supports. And, which actions of Hillary say GOP to you? Also, ignore typing errors and rambling, as I decided to take a shot every time a candidate lied and now I'm so drunk I can't see straight.
Nevada is the same thing. Every single commercial break has at least one Trump is Evil commercial. I can't recall seeing any Here's What Hillary Plans to Do commercials.
Wait until Hillary is president and can't get around an increasingly Republican congress, and you'll see exactly how GOP she can be. She'll be taking credit for all kinds of conservative ideas, the same way Bill takes the credit for welfare reform and the surplus.
No she's gambling on people out hating him. It's been universally negative Trump from the media Ive seen. With the way he react to everything, why not limit your exposure and let your oppenent dig their own grave? It worked tonight. So far a lot of the polls have the debate at a toss up. I thought by the time Trump was rambling about Sean Hannity and the Iraq war he had decided to just throw the fucking debate.
My favorite part of the debate was when Hillary accused Trump of racist behavior and his defense essentially amounted to "everybody else was doing it too!" Or maybe when she said he might not have the best temperament for being president as he was frothing at the fucking mouth. Or maybe when he denied claiming global warming was a Chinese conspiracy and his staffers had to go back and delete a tweet saying exactly that. Good times. I ate that shit up with a spoon. How can anyone with any sense of reason put that guy in charge? It takes some twisted logic to say that he is better fit for office.
You're demonstrating one of the points I made earlier in this thread. People are not objective in elections. Everything you've said is true, but that doesn't make him any less fit for president than Mrs.Clinton, but for different reasons. Trump is an egotistical blowhard with a short fuse and no filter; Clinton is a congenital liar who will make any deal for her own gain, be it political or economic. Those who ignore Trump's faults will vote for him and those who overlook Clinton's will vote for her. Neither is a good candidate for president. We're all still ignoring the fact that congress has much more control over our lives than the president, but they're all able to hide within the group and let the president take the blame. Nobody here has talked about a congressional candidate and why anyone should vote for them. The establishment would like to keep it that way.
I won't pretend to be objective in this one , but you act like I'm overlooking Clinton's faults. No, I'm not. She's a flawed candidate who lies and does dumb shit. However, good arguments could be made that her lies and the dumb shit she does essentially amount to nothing. If it didn't, why haven't all of these investigations over the years yielded something substantial? Why isn't she locked up? Or disgraced enough not to run? Politicians still do that when confronted with a harsh truth. They don't just yell foul at the media when scandals come to light. The fact that Donald Trump has engaged in racist behavior and doesn't even act like it was a bad thing to do doesn't make him less fit to be President? I don't get that. That's huge! That would sink any other candidate besides him in this weird ass election year. I can't believe that you insist on putting these two candidates on a level playing field and simply say, "well, whoever you choose it just comes down to bias." Clinton is a bad presidential candidate. Trump isn't a bad presidential candidate. He is appalling. Look at all the shit he has said and done and try to put him on the same level of Clinton. You chose Clinton's lies as the central flaw of her candidacy. Can you really argue that Trump lies less? Can you argue that Trump doesn't do things to benefit himself solely? C'mon. He doesn't even have the good sense to pay some federal taxes here and there just so people can't take a cheap shot at him. It is absurd that we act like Donald Trump is qualified to be president. He has little experience; his policy proposals don't make a lot of sense; he has a terrible personality for the job; and he says things that are truly appalling. Yes, Clinton is flawed, but when anyone objectively looks at the evidence you can't say she isn't less flawed than Trump. I don't get it. Actually, I somewhat do though it is something we just dance about. Trump exists because of xenophobia and racism run amok in 2016. That's it. That's why people like him. He has taken the American Id and harnessed it into something truly destructive. Build a wall, don't allow Muslims in, stop and frisk, the Chinese are scary. "Hatred is the most accessible and comprehensive of all the unifying agents. Mass movements can rise and spread without belief in a God, but never without belief in a devil." -Eric Hoffer What devils has Trump rallied people to fight?
There wasn't a clear blowout victory from either one. He wasn't well prepared; she pandered way too much. Every response from either one was turned into self promotion while Lester Holt just sat there. I don't think it's going to change anyone's mind.
I thought it was close to a toss up as well. Trump started off ok on trade and then kept interrupting and fumbled a lot of his attacks. Clinton sucked as usual, but was more composed and presidential. As bad as that debate was it was still magnificent compared to the WWE smack down style of the Republican debates. I didn't have high expectations. I watched a bit of the post-debate 'analysis' from NBC. By analysis I mean utterly shameless Clinton propaganda. Seriously, do they just prepare those statements beforehand at this point? I guess they saw how far CNN has fallen from anything resembling respectable journalism and decided they had to up their game. These two networks are making fox news look like the gold standard of objective reporting. Regarding the next debate, I know this election is more about trying to make the other look bad rather than selling oneself, but I'm going to hope we get something a little more coherent in terms outlining their plans next time around. I'm saying hope, not that I think it will happen.
