Any opinions on the Trump audio tape? As much as I hate him, this doesn't move the needle much for me. I've heard and said worse. In my opinion that's something any dude says, and that it was done so in 2005, well before he ever thought of running for office (I think?), well what do you expect? That being said, the GOP is going all crazy over this and I am thoroughly enjoying watching the reaction. *edit* Xray and I had the same thought. And yes, I agree it could bring him down. I just don't see how it's any different than two guys talking about women. I mean yeah his morals are, in my opinion, off, as far as hitting on married women and stuff, but I've known plenty of people who've done that. They just weren't celebrities with a lot to lose. That being said, every woman I've discussed this with -- the lone exception being my wife who thought it was funny -- was completely disgusted. Uhhhhh.... do you know what your husbands talk about during the game?
So I'm assuming everyone heard the latest Donald Trump leak? It's pretty fucking awful. Of all the shit he's said, I feel this could actually bring him down. But who knows... https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...9ce776-8cb4-11e6-bf8a-3d26847eeed4_story.html And I'm betting that today show douche will be out of a job come Monday.
The Clinton campaign probably has 2 of these planned a week until election day. I can't wait for Sunday's debate. That will be a DOOOOOZY.
When people on facebook are defending Trump, I'm literally just posting "yeah! Grab them by the pussy!"
He's not talking about hitting on married women. He's talking about sexual assault, and flaunting how his power lets him get away with it. And if that's how you and all your friends really talk about women all the time you should probably all question your "morals" as well. I'm glad you can brush this off. I've spent the whole day thinking about all the times I've been "grabbed by the pussy" by a stranger or when they've threatened to do basically that and being physically ill!
I posted this and deleted it, but on third thought it's worth saying. It's fucked up Trump said this and it should end his campaign (like pretty much everything else he has said or done). But what is more fucked up is that people are chalking this up to "oh boys will be boys." No. Fuck no. If you talk blithely about sexually assaulting women, you have some serious problems.
Grabbed by the pussy implies some sort of... pulling action. The physics of this are bothering me greatly.
If anyone wasn't sure what having to pick between the lesser of two evils is actually like, this is what it's like.
Locker room talk can be graphic but even in my exeprience, a sample set of one, I can not remember a single guy I know ever using it in context of going against a woman's consent. The electorate chose poorly.
You know; here's my thought. Donald is fascinated by grabbing a woman by the pussy but Hillary, she is grabbing the country by the pussy. https://www.buzzfeed.com/rubycramer...paid-speech-tr?utm_term=.grEyRRYEx#.rw99PPlkM That makes me question what she says. publicly. Trump is an idiot. He will say what he feels but Clinton is contrived. Is she with big business or against it? Is she with global trade or against it?
Does anyone think that what Trump said is somehow unique to him ? That those statements are different from what Bill Clinton, Kennedy, or any other philandering politician may have potentially said ? I'm not trying to defend or rationalize it, but the "outrage" displayed by the talking heads, Democrats and Republicans strikes me as overkill. At this point I'm pretty convinced Trump is a patsy to ensure Hillary gets elected. I've never seen anyone try harder to fuck something up in my life.
I find it ironic that Republicans are now mandated to carry an unwanted candidate that was forced upon them to full term because they waited too long to take care of it.
Should, as in he should drop out? Or should, as in the electorate won't support him anymore? Because, the former won't. He won't drop out. Why would he? And the latter? The electorate didn't care about Bill Clinton's sexual misconduct and alleged assaults why would the care about Trump's? The majority of Trump supporters are either voting for him because that's their only choice, or to vote against Hillary. Neither of those things has changed.
I don't think this is "Trump fucking up". I don't think he wanted this to get out. This may or may not be typical of powerful people and how they view women. But in this circumstance, it is now public and people can hear it for themselves. Anyone who sits by and says "well other people have said bad shit too" in order justify their continuning support for Trump is saying it's ok sexually assault women. It also puts into context every other creepy, rapey thing he's ever said. This is a man who hates women. Imagine what he's said about his own daughter that wasn't being recorded. This is the guy who called Mexican immigrants rapists while being one himself.
Fade in on the White House press room. It is November 9th. President Obama walks into the room, his head high and brimming with confidence as flashes of cameras pop all over and tape recorders click on. President Obama: Good morning. Today I would like to congratulate President Elect Clinton for her victory last night. It was a long and contentious election, but I am confident in her ability to lead this nation and begin the healing after a difficult time. I would also like to congratulate the newly incoming Democratic Senators, giving the Democrats a new majority in the Senate. I would also like to congratulate the Republicans on their big win last night. Confused murmurs now spread through the room as the President lets that comment sit for a moment. While republicans maintain control of the house, they lost the senate majority by 1 seat and the election was viewed by all pundits as a general loss for the Republican Party. Obama continues. President Obama: Yes, for months the republicans in the senate have refused to hold a hearing for Merrick Garland, claiming the people should make that choice. I have pushed them for months to hold a hearing for Garland, but they have remained steadfast in their refusal and feeling that the next President should make that choice. Well, today, they get their wish. I am withdrawing my nomination of Merrick Garland, and I will allow my successor and the new Senate choose the next Supreme Court nominee. This is a big victory for the Republicans who have been demanding this for months, so congratulations, Republicans, you earned this victory. Obama out! Obama drops the mic, walks off smiling to himself while the press corps goes insane yelling questions and camera flashes go off constantly. End scene.
I just cant help but think of all the undecided voters for whom the trump audio is a tipping point. It's not like it's news; we already knew he thinks and says all of this stuff in private. But hearing it is a different matter. I compare it to the Ray Rice video. It was bad before, but then once people saw the tape it became its own animal.
That audio may be the election. He was joking about sexual assault, its hard to believe he said you can grab them by their pussy and makes it seem like he's done that before. I know Clinton and those other guys aren't saints, but Trump does have this misogynic vibe to him. I'm wondering now how many women he's sexually assaulted and got away with it because he's powerful or a celebrity, or the victim felt powerless. No one in good conscience can vote for him anymore. No one is good conscience can think that Donald Trump can act as a symbol for American values and morality when he openly jokes about sexual assault. I just saw an ad from the NRA with a women saying how she should be able to defend herself with a gun and that Hilarly will take that right away from her. Imagine if a woman shot Trump because of an attempted assault?
I think they will. I imagine there are a lot of DA"s who would love to prosecute him and make a name for themselves by doing that.
