Can you elaborate? All of the news I keep seeing about this refers to attacks in the UK, and mostly hospitals. Why is that? And, are those of us non-Linux and non-Mac users in the US at risk? What's the best site to download necessary patches, or will keeping anti-virus software current be sufficient?
It's well outside of the U.K. at this point. Make sure you have your Windows updates installed and you'll be fine. If you have Windows XP you might be fucked, but Microsoft decided to actually patch for this on XP, which is somewhat unheard from them since they stopped supporting it.

Can someone explain to me why we care so much about the Norks? I did some reading on this before I posted and best I can tell, our concerns tie back to the Korean War and acting as the military defense for Japan and South Korea. Maybe we should've allowed Japan to arm after WWII but that hindsight is a tough thing to suggest after such a horrible human cost. I read that China supports the Norks because they don't want to see more American influence on the peninsula, the Russians are Russians so they're always pissing people off and being aggressive so are against any decline in North Korea. And maybe above all, the status quo is best for business between Asia and North America
Because South Korea is the 11th largest economy in the world, is hugely friendly with the United States, and makes all our LCD panels.
NK is so annoying I would almost support a a war against them. I think at this point it's safe to say they are the most pathetic country on the planet.
Russia is in a very tough spot with North Korea. On the one hand, they dont want the US to topple a regime that it has luke-warm relations with and creep further into Asia. On the other hand, they really dont want China to keep expanding its influence. Russia and China share a border, the US is a world away. China is the most immediate threat to Russia, even if they are "allies."
Interesting, so Russia really wants to keep things as is. The more of a player China is in North Korea, the less influence they have, which decreases their influence in the region.
Its a pretty complicated alliance, but thats the basics of it. For all the chest puffing Russia does, it doesnt have as much power as everyone thinks.
And I know the Norks will make as much noise as they can before the winter olympics so that countries are willing to pay them to shut up for two months. North Korea making noise then would be really embarrassing for China.
At least he's only been on the force for.....six years. He has been arrested and charged with murder, but not before his department released a false statement trying to cover it up. You're not going to simmer down tensions between police and the public down there if you keep simply refusing to admit you're ever wrong.
Hahahaha, wait, the best part of that is painting a picture of a man who's actually a very good person because he's SUCH a family man that he had a baby with his wife AND his girlfriend! Lord.
Well they did specify a good family man, not a good husband. Reminds me of Antonio Cromartie ( an NFL Cornerback) who's wife just announced she is pregnant with their sixth child. He has in addition another eight children from former wives, girlfriends, and assorted pickups. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...ant-with-his-14th-child/ar-BBBakTr?li=BBnb7Kz
Does it matter anyway? I mean, if you shoot an unarmed kid there isn't really any kind of "but I'm totally a great guy" story to fall back on.
He's probably not the most moral man, but I think we can agree that stoking the fire for cop hatred doesn't do anyone much good. Civil protest, yes, lets do that, protests such a Ferguson don't ever achieve much....Look at the Detroit riots, how much was achieved there? Or the Watts riots?
You won't get riots here because the D.A. acted quick and didn't grant special privilege. I have no opinion on later outcome, but this one seems pretty cut and dry. And there are zero support/funding groups out there for this guy right now. If an officer actually commits a crime, and they treat him/her in the judicial system like every citizen instead of slipping them some sort of frathouse/insider immunity, nobody gets angry. If you look at places like Twitter about this case, nobody is saying "rise up". Instead people are boasting that they are pleased with the charges.
