So then preemptively shoot them and claim that you were afraid for your life because you thought they were going to shoot you because they were afraid of you. The judge will give you a standing ovation as you leave the court room having successfully defended yourself.
To be honest, if you're a stranger to me and you're in my house when you're not supposed to be, I'm probably not going to ask you to have a beer. I'm just going to shoot you because chances are you aren't there to exchange pleasantries.
Texas is shockingly liberal, except there are just so many dumbass people here, and those dumbass people always no matter what vote, that's why it's red. Like you know the stereotype how cops are the ones who were picked on in school? Same is true for those dumbass country bumpkins. Mama said they'd never amount to anything but they darn sure did they got to dat dem votin place and got them yellow haired man lected ta get them mesicans outta here!!! And this is why we can't have nice things.
Absolutely agree. That's the one area where I really do hate the Canadian legal system... if someone is armed, breaks into my house with the intent of doing me harm, and I shoot them, then I can be charged. I asked a lawyer friend of mine what would happen, and his response was, "whatever you do, be sure you kill them, otherwise they will sue you for everything you have, and win."
I'm not a fan of carrying weapons in general. People as a whole are fucking morons. We've spent almost a decade and thousands of posts discussing that on this board. If you've got a brain in your head you can't think all of these idiots carrying is a good idea. And of course we're not the idiots. We can handle a gun way better than those other guys . And besides, we need to carry to protect ourselves from all of the other idiots carrying. Because we're Doc fucking Holliday good with a gun under stress. Pure insanity
Except CCW carreriers have the some of the lowest illegal shooting rates across the board, and nearly all states have made this legal in the past 15 years without the spike of wild west shootings that were supposed to occur.
You have a valid point but I'm thinking down the road. The idea of Carrying in general, concealed or not is getting more and more popular. Back in the day it was primarily off duty cops or similar that carried. I can't help but think that things are going to get squirrelly As the number of people carrying increases, as advocated by the NRA and other conservative interests.
I tend to believe that everyone who currently has a CCW is a representative cross-section of society (except those who are not allowed), and that will not change with any kind of increased volume, so you won't see any kind of change in those numbers, relatively speaking.
I know there are a bunch of different ways to view the Constitution. Some people think it should be interpreted verbatim, that the words are literal and it's the letter of the law no matter the time. I firmly believe that it should be viewed in context though. At the time the Second Amendment was written, people were concerned about invading military forces from other countries. Whereas country folk now might fear invading KB Homes and new housing developments, people back then literally didn't know if the next knock on their door was a neighbor or someone attempting to control of the land via military. The country needed its citizens to be armed, because at a moment's notice they could be called upon to fight an invading enemy force. Right now I am currently facing an invading enemy force. They're called "armadillos" and they are waging war against my yard. Thus far, I am winning. But I could also effectively beat them back by sneaking up behind them with a shovel. I do not "need" guns to defend my property. I am allowed to have them because I am a law abiding citizen, and since they are also fun and effective, I have many. But I certainly don't view my ability to own guns as some natural right granted to me by living in the country. If I decide to break the law and become a felon, I am not allowed to own guns. I lost that right.
I was asked in rep, re: FL's gun permissiveness: does it work? What are the stats? I haven't the foggiest, and frankly I haven't spent enough time across the whole of Florida to form any opinion worth hearing. Drove into Miami for a cuban sammich (meh) and the Zoo (fantastic! highly recommended), and have gone thru St Petersburg (ghetto) on our way to Clearwater and this fruit wine place (very good). The bulk of my experience is in Ft Myers/Sanibel, and as far as THAT town is concerned, I can tell you people are *real* fucking polite to each other. You just don't know who's packing, and that makes everyone think twice.
Your personal interpretation of the 2nd Amendment is one thing, but it's also irrelevant. Right to bear arms is in fact a right guaranteed by being a citizen it's just not inalienable. In fact none truly are as far as the Constitution is concerned, it's just a phrase in the Declaration.
Well hell, apparently the Norks have some pretty smart people. They're claiming that now the entire US is within their missiles' range. If it was just the Norks saying it, I wouldn't put much faith in the statement. However: "Analysts had estimated that the North's first ICBM on July 4 could have reached Alaska, and said that the latest missile appeared to extend that range significantly."
Oh, shit. The Rapture is here. If only your country had the limited technology to shoot down one single, Atari-controlled piece-of-shit payload vehicle.
I feel like right now, if somebody detonates a nuke in the continental US, it's not going to be an ICBM from North Korea or the like. It's going to be one of our own, detonated in place, or either one smuggled in a vehicle under Trump's wall. I'm counting on you Canucks to keep us safe on the north side.
Dude, we HAD your back. It was called the Avro Arrow program and it was a series of badass jet fighters to keep the Commies at bay. They were unique and state-of-the-art like the Thunderbolt II only it was made for air fighting. The government completely destroyed the program. Fuckers.
With the recent US-Russia tension, the Red Dawn remake, the Nork nonsense and the news of Top Gun 2 being made . . . isn't this the PERFECT time to write that into a movie script? <narrator voice> In a world, where simple political tension can suddenly mean a threat to the lives of millions, and congressional gridlock prevents the release of new funding, how will the US stand ready? - cut to US President and Canada's PM in a meeting. POTUS: I'm asking for a favor, Jean? I know it's been a long time since Summer camp at Niagra Falls, but you owe me one. CaPM: We just don't have the equipment, the funding or the pilots, Jack. POTUS: What about all those Avro Arrow birds? CaPM: What am I supposed to do, pull them out of mothballs? And, then what, dig up all the old pilots out of retirement? - cut to old pilots doing various old dude stuff; crop dusting, air circus flying, United pilot, knitting on the porch - cut to pulling tarps off of old jets in hangars, bats fly out of one engine Sample dialogue: "I'm too old for this shit!" "Die, you Red motherfuckers!" "Yeehaw, Jester's dead!" That sort of thing. It's like Red meets Space Cowboys meets Top Gun.
It seems a blogger tried, and succeeded, at running a photographer out of business through social media. The blogger just got smacked with a $1M judgement against her. Glad to see someone being held accountable for trying to bully someone.
Where are all her chickenshit supporters that helped her ruin the business? Shouldn't they be defending her right now? Because they're not. Speaking of internet lynch mobs, the original victim-- Steve The Cubs Fan-- was given an honorary WS ring today so Chicago could say to him "We are sorry that Moises Alou was a whiney crybaby bitch, that Gonzalez fucked up the double play and still we blamed it on you."
NAACP issues travel advisory for entire state of Missouri. Now THIS might be the most Missouri thing ever.
