It's been a long time since I studied it, but the DoD standard for harddrive wiping is or was like 28 wiping passes before data becomes unrecoverable. It would be easy to tell that this had been done because each pass is random garbage and the software would read that random garbage.
Right, but not anything that could have gotten there by accident. Someone with more recent experience may come here and say I'm completely wrong, but that's how I understand it from when I studied this 10 years ago.
It totally depends on who wants the data recovered, and by that I mean how much money do they have, what are their technical resources, and how much time do they have.
And this is what it's come to: Union: Pistol-whipped detective didn't shoot attacker because of headlines http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/13/us/alabama-birmingham-police-detective-pistol-whipped/index.html This is just pitiful.
You can easily do secure wipes with non-random but otherwise harmless data. The average secure wipe tool won't do it because it's easier to just generate garbage, and plausible deniability isn't usually the goal, but it's just as easy to use "real" source data to overwrite the drive as it is to use random source data. You just have to generate enough innocuous looking data so when someone recovers pieces of it, it looks like what was actually there.
Oh for fuck's sake. ‘Muslim-free’ gun shop teams with George Zimmerman to sell Confederate flag prints http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...ge-zimmerman-to-sell-confederate-flag-prints/ Yeah, that's going to make everything better.
It'll be nice when people figure out how to ignore shit that doesn't really matter. For now, it's just a couple of people who've been thrust into the media spotlight trying to take advantage of that spotlight and the social media crap. It's stupid, but I bet they'll get the attention (and sales) that justify it. There's a formula in today's social and mainstream media, and more and more people are taking advantage of it.
I think Trump is doing this well because everyone is enjoying the fuck out seeing him in the mix. He's throwing all of them for a fucking loop, and it's pure entertainment value. I'm sure some people honestly believe he's a viable candidate, but I think most people are in it for the lols.
It's August. We have a year still of this. Politics aren't going to get relevant for a while still, so if they're going to be talked about, I'd much rather laugh at the shit trump says. Pure entertainment, nothing more. And here he is pumping his own money into this thinking we all actually give a shit.
Sad though in some cases. Vice had a string of articles a few months ago about a girl that "refused to be shamed" by the internet. She had been photographed in public having a three some in an alley during a rodeo or some shit (happened in Canada of all places). They tried propping her up as some feminist crusader fighting the mighty misogynistic internet(TM). She stated publicly she wasn't going to be shamed, fine, good for her. Then I read the article of how she was trying to cash in on her new infamy by stripping at low rent canuck titty bars. Her family refused to speak to her, and I think she had been kicked out of her house. All the social justice trying to be forced out in the article couldn't hide the fact that she sounded despondent and broken. Living with the repercussions of repeated bad mistakes. It really felt like Vice was exploiting this girl because parts of her story fit their SJW attitude/narrative. A girl who probably has mental or substance abuse issues, or both. Sad.
Yeah... that was pretty fucking painful to watch... can't be prosecuted for something you didn't say.
I am trying to follow the issues for the next election, and no one seems to be covering actual issues. But since there are people from different countries and walks of life on this board, I have a quick question: What are the actual issues that you think are facing America and need to be addressed in a substantive fashion? The more specific, the better.
Bernie Sanders is. Do not mistake the GOP noise machine for actual discussion. They are rehashing social issues already solved. Their entire stance is regression: repeal healthcare and gay civil rights, remove environmental standards, remove workplace standards, prohibit alternative energy, squash medical marijuana. Bernie is the only one talking about jobs, quality of life, fair worker conditions, health care, environment, and foreign policy, AND he actually has viable plans. Hillary needs to assert herself better. This tiptoeing bullshit not only makes her look weak, but guilty for crap that wasn't even technically illegal or her f'n problem. She's been dealing with this dog and pony show bullshit for 2 years now and she still hasn't told them to fuck off. I want a Hillary/Bernie ticket. It would be unstoppable now. We still have a year and 4 months, though.
None of your first paragraph is true. Even though I hate the GOP and am glad any time anyone trashes them, those aren't their positions. But how do you reconcile, within your own head, your support of Bernie Sanders with support of lifetime political hack, who will do and say anything to get elected, Hillary Clinton? I'd think they were polar opposite candidates.
Just a fair warning - if we are going to openly discuss the 2016 election, I dont have a problem with it (unless other mods do) but its going to stay civil. Any deviation from that will result in a ban, there will not be an additional warning ahead of time. We're all adults, so we know what civil means.
