That might also be the reason that cop who shot the guy 5 times with his rifle while being compliant was acquitted of second degree murder. I think the prosecution overcharged the guy even though the video is damning and awful. But there’s a chance the crime didn’t rise to the level of murder 2.

Could be; I haven't looked at that case very closely.

There was secondary measure to convict him of manslaughter if not found guilty of murder. They found him innocent of that too. The jury dropped the ball.

I can’t imagine what their justification is. That video was one of the worst I’ve seen. Even the parts leading up to the shooting were unnecessary. The cop sounded terrified like he had no control of the situation. With people begging to not be shot.

    Go to 21:20 or so:

He's one of initial execs at FaceBook, and he's basically feeling guilty over what he made and what FaceBook has become.

I’d have a shred of sympathy for him if he donated his profits to worth while causes.

    Until then STFU.

He makes some pretty good points, though, about how your opinion won't mean shit unless you have money, so go get it and then you can change the world.

    Yeah... me too.

He's sorry for what FaceBook has become, but not for making a shit-ton of money off of it. "The first billion was all me..."

I found a quite a few little bits I'll remember out of that. I guess I'm not surprised he doesn't use social media, although one would think that as one of the original execs he might but his reasoning why in the Q&A at the end was good and makes sense. I also like his take on saying "I don't know" when you don't but I would add "but I'll find out". It's ridiculous how many times I find myself saying that and then learning the answer (or at least an answer).

    Overall that was good stuff.

My rule of thumb is I don't want no internet fame. The internet mob is a fickle beast with only one speed.

That whole thing was a bit sketchy to me. Who does that to their kid? Kid comes to his parents car crying after something happened at school and the mom busts out the camera to record and put on the internet? Instead of comforting him or something?

Shit went real bad real fast for them. And it made all these famous self righteous types look like assholes while they fell over themselves tryig to give him free shit to pat themselves on the back.

Facebook sucks. And twitter sucks. And all those sites fucking suck. The sooner you all delete your accounts in those places, the sooner you’ll feel like you divorced an abusive spouse.

I say the less of a digital footprint you leave the less likely you are to inadvertently screw up your life in a heartbeat. A completely smashed body, mind and soul is the only pound of flesh that these self righteous fucks settle for, and I don’t plan on ever being one of their trophies. I mean Jesus, you make the wrong drunk boast on a bar patio while out with buddies and some dingleberry with an iPhone turns you into the public enemy overnight, nobody is safe.

You ever try to delete your Facebook account? You used to be able to, now all you can do is deactivate it, which is what I did about a month ago.

    Social media is a cesspool.

I abandoned mine. I think it’s still there although I haven’t checked on it in probably seven years at least. I don’t even remember my password.

I'm pretty sure that you can; it is just not easy to find the link on the website to do it. If you Google "delete Facebook page" you should be able to find pages that show you how to do it.

Don't you spend a lot of your free time searching those sites, taking screen shots, and posting them here? Where else should I look to find obscure people to get outraged at?

The thing about Twitter is that you can tailor it to be what you want. You can follow only news sources or you can follow 200 porn stars. It doesn’t matter.

With Facebook, you can also choose who you follow, but it’s turned into such a garbage heap because everyone just posts anything and it’s all designed to keep you on Facebook. Also when you unfollow someone on Twitter, it’s different than if you were to unfriend someone on Facebook.
