Nope... just pointing out that useless comparisons between "what is worse" in a one-on-one scenario should not be the basis for a big-picture reaction to such a topic. The real question should be, "what are you more likely to encounter in your life... someone wanting to hurt you with a gun, or with a knife?" You are WAY more likely to die by stabbing than by guns. So yeah, in your initial question, I'd pick the gun guy, because it's less likely to happen.
I’ve been stabbed once, slashed once. But I’ve never even had a non-service or non-hunting gun even pulled in my presence. But that goes with the territory. Like Britain, we’re much more of a stabbing nation when it comes to lowlife behaviour.
Wouldn't you also agree that even if you do encounter a bad guy with a gun, you're less likely to die from it because *most* people are terrible with guns? Whereas knifes don't take really any training to fuck you up. You hear about these shootings, the bad guys fire a ton of rounds relative to the amount of injuries.
Meh... they made shotguns for a reason. But there is also the factoid that you are more likely to be shot with your own gun to consider.
*slowly raises hand* A few years ago, while I was breaking down my pistol for cleaning, I thought I had checked the chamber to make sure it was empty, and the way you take the slide off involves pulling the trigger to release it — that’s one of the big knocks against glocks. Pulling the trigger to release the slide is a safety thing, and it’s enough of a concern that gun manufacturers advertise it when their firearm doesn’t require a trigger pull to break down. Well, the .40 cal bullet I didn’t realize was in the chamber fired. Fortunately I was holding the slide by the side, but the bullet still either grazed the palm of my hand or just missed it we’re not sure. Didn’t break the skin but I got a nasty burn and now there’s a nice scar. Went through the pool table, through the drywall and into the sidewalk outside. Whoops. So yeah, it might be statistically rare to be shot with your own weapon (or maybe it’s not I don’t know). But it can and does happen. Needless to say I now check the chamber about 30 times to make sure it’s empty before I clean my guns.
Have you done this more than once? I thought in the previous versions of this story you shot yourself in the leg.
Nope just once. Once is all it took to scare the absolute crap outta me. Just the hand accident. Maybe you were thinking of this? Or this?
I wish I could tell you that Morgan Freeman fought the good fight, and the #MeToo movement let him be. I wish I could tell you that...
Well, chalk one up to a passerby with a CCW. https://newsok.com/article/5595860/shootings-reported-near-britton-and-lake-hefner-parkway
Emphasis on concealed. Open carry is legal in Texas and I see it all the time. Dumbest shit I’ve ever seen. I’ve yet to hear a logical argument for carrying visible rather than concealed.
