Ha!!!!!! So, what country do you think you are living in? In that same city a cop killed an unarmed, innocent woman and got a measly ten years. The Chicago cop who committed murder got five years. They never, EVER have been appropriately punished even once in your country’s history. Don’t expect that trend to suddenly change. We watched an NYPD strangle a man to death on camera, and it took half a decade just for him to lose his fucking job. Which he will no doubt ultimately get back, or just get a job with the closest police department down the road. I recommend having no faith whatsoever.
The Minneapolis video was the worst video of US police I've ever seen. The cops didn't even have the meager justification of "it was a split second decision," dude was just casually kneeling on the guy's neck until he died, which was almost 10 minutes. And by "casually" I mean "the cop was so relaxed he had his hands in his pockets."
It’s cold blooded murder, and it’s on film. The Cops watching prevented anybody from interfering worth him taking his life. And the fact the paper had to release the cops’ names because their department refused to do it is fucking PATHETIC.
This is the kind of behavior that turns the thin blue line into the thin blue island. Not an island I would want to be on.
Strangely enough, it's as if the black people that used to post in this thread were saying this shit years ago.
Then they should make like Tom Hanks and get used to being stuck there, however unlike his character it’s their fault they’re stranded. Until they’re willing to take the blame you guys should ignore all smoke signals.
I definitely don't feel that way. Cops are civilians and should be treated as such, they aren't above the law. I do think they police differently in different neighborhoods and there are too many that don't belong in the profession. To Jimmy's point though, there is a wide yawning-gap between Mike Brown/White Privilege/Trayvon Martin and white cop kneeling on black man's neck to death, the extended version. I see a difference there, I hope you all do too.
Kelly Thomas was screaming for his dad and begging for his life, and was beaten to death with fists. Cops had a nice extended paid vacation before losing their jobs years later. There has never been a more disgusting act of police violence than that. And the fact those pieces of shit still want their jobs back... wow. The police in America just do not care enough to change. That would mean losing the unlimited impunity to do whatever they want. Perhaps Americans should take tips from Mexicans about protesting shitty police: instead of chanting outside the police station, simply burn it to the ground. Perhaps then the lightbulb will finally come on and they’ll think “Wait a minute.... perhaps my fellow employees’ behaviour is what is causing all this contempt in the first place! I should call them out for this.” Sure it’s extreme, but it might work so it’s worth a try.
Dude's going to jail. The social media storm will be too much for some police department or local DA to contain. They probably realized that early on and cut them loose ASAP as a self-preservation measure, leaving them to fend on their own. It would be interesting to know if, having been fired, they still have the support, services, or protection of the union...
I've seen a couple of these juxtapositions now (cop from the incident, other pic of cop doing undesirable stuff). Are there any sources that confirm these other pictures are of the officer? I'd like a stronger citation than just a meme.
They’re saying that’s NOT him. People just want it to be him. It doesn’t make him him any less subhuman. Not only are large groups attacking the police stations, but they doxxed the cops and dozens of people are outside his house, berating the cops guarding it and chasing away any food delivery that comes to his place. Normally that sounds wrong but hey, they created that climate by refusing accountability an infinite number of times. So they can lay the blame of violence and hated towards them squarely at their own feet. You want it to stop? Fucking change. Or the next time a Dallas Sniper happens very few will give a fuck.
The Minneapolis police union is headed by Bob Kroll, a miserable, abrasive swine bully cocksucker and possibly the most unlikeable cop in the entire continental United States. You can bet your bottom dollar that he’s going to fiercely defend these murdering insects once he worms up a reason to do it.
It’s not YOUR mistake. I thought it right along with you. This shit happens on Twitter every time. Hen somebody gets vilified, they tear the world apart trying to get more dirt on them.
CNN is reporting live from Minneapolis. Fire, looting and Molotov cocktails. EDIT: here's an independent live stream
Per the scanner, there are police that are out of rubber bullets and tear gas who can't be reached to be resupplied or extracted. That means their only defense is real bullets. This could get real bad, real quick.
