Louisville had their own protest: LMPD: 7 people shot, 1 'critical' during protest in downtown Louisville demanding justice for Breonna Taylor
Yeah, every time these guys do something that gets them lauded, it always seems more of a PR campaign to distract from the fact that they’re murderers and drug dealers.
Don’t forget pimps and kidnappers as well. They have about as much charm to their outlaw glamour as a Darfur rape gang.
This fucking idiot thought that posting an entirely different knee hold would clear the cops. Guess how well it went for him? That knee is is not on your neck, it is NOT blood-choking you. And you aren’t cuffed with two mote guys on your back. You ARE out of a job and are now a pariah, though.
Horse mounted police are very effective at crowd control. The officer can see over the crowd, the sheer size of the horse is intimidating to many people. A crowd of people is not going to stop a horse. People will stand in front of a cop car and block it. The horse itself gets a vote as to where it goes and the horse isn't stopping for a crowd of people. Years ago I was in New Orleans on a very crowded Bourbon St where there were mounted police. Someone in the crowd did something and the horse cut through the crowd like it wasn't there. The officer leaned over and hooked the guy under the arm, sat back up and dragged him alongside the horse out of the crowd. It was over in seconds. It would've taken a squad of cops to maybe push their way through the crowd and a car would never have made it.
Yet when I say “boo” to a cop car or throw something near it, it doen’t throw it’s rider or break it’s leg like a horse will. Standing on the roof of a police van let’s you see over a ground (as does raining tear gas down in them from the roof as Seen On TV) plus the complete idiotic practice of having an animal with hooves run around on smooth pavement seems like nothing more than in under-trainer demographic that like to play cowboys and Indians It paints a bullseye in the horse and the rider the second they show up. It is a fucking stupid practice.
In typical Crown fashion, you’re being a bit dramatic. These horses are damn near bomb proof. I’ve helped work horses intended for mounted police work and we would ride through obstacle courses with fireworks going off under them. When a horse freaks after this sort of training ITS THE RIDER. The rider is panicking and that’s when the animal says fuck this. Obviously there are scenarios where you can defeat a cop on horse just like there are scenarios where you can stop a car. It just depends on the variables.
high school wrestling coach. Wrestling season had been suspended and he wasn’t a teacher. Imagine they were pretty quick to pull the trigger on that one.
Minus the other two cops on you his point was beyond pointless. Floyd basically had a crowd compression asphyxiation like a Who concert.
Funny how not many are whining about protestors/rioters going out during a pandemic in this circumstance.
This is starting to look like a war zone. Riots breaking out in multiple cities. I don’t think it’s right, but I understand. Systemic racism by the police, then you’ve got everyone that’s been stuck at home and unemployed with pent up rage and nothing to do. Riots in the past had been at least partially held back by the fact that these people had jobs they were worried about, or that kept them away from the area. Now they have nothing to lose. I’d very much hate to live in those areas.
In the words of John Mulaney "we're well past that!" People are setting police stations on fire, it's obvious that some level of societal breakdown has occurred.
I’m not saying the rider wouldn’t look like a good target, but I’d be really surprised if any sane person would want to injure and kill a fucking horse just as much as they’d want to destroy a cop car. I’d actually think the horse would make people hesitate.
Police horses have been used as crowd control for decades, even in places as dense and violent as NYC, quite successfully. They are very effective at what they do... as I found out one drunken night on Bourbon Street when they wanted to close, and nobody wanted to leave. Horses are smart and trainable, and have been used in actual warfare for years, so a bit of public unrest shouldn't be a big deal.
