Most of those kinds of laws have a "reasonable person" requirement. You being afraid by itself is not sufficient, you have to demonstrate that a hypothetical "reasonable person" would share your fear if they were in the same situation.
"I'm a white victim of systemic racism where I've been trained to be afraid of a shouting black mob."
I think one of the things that should make a comeback, at least where it makes sense, is having cops walk a beat. Let them be a part of the neighborhood vs. jacking off to porn in their squad car all day.
The one good thing Valchek did in the entire series was tell Herc how to play that. Just shut up and good things will come.
CHOP has been busted up: https://www.foxnews.com/us/seattle-police-chop-protest-durkan As much as I hate cops, I'm glad to see this happen. From what I've heard, it's a bunch of bullies that were running things in there, and my whole complaint about cops is that they're nothing more than glorified bullies.
Savage is denying it fully, and his mother says his sister has mental problems and is making it up. In short, she’s rejecting their reality...and...substituting her own... *rimshot*
yeah I was ready to write that off but something about that just sounds a bit too fitting. One of those “let’s wait and see” kinda things... which honestly is how all these cases should be imo
Some context based on a recent personal experience. At the end of May there was a protest in my DC suburb that devolved into idiots throwing rocks and bottles at passing cars. The police responded and the riot lasted until about 2:30am. The next day another event was planned in the shopping center parking lot next to where I live. When I found out, The wife prepped an overnight bag for us and our 11 month old son while I topped off the gas in my truck, brought everything outside that I could into the garage and put a few things away in the safe that might look appealing if someone broke in. While in the safe I also loaded a shotgun and prepped a few magazines for one of my handguns. Both stayed in the safe. The plan was if we heard any police loudspeaker calls to disperse, we grab the kid & dog, hop in the truck and leave for a hotel. My worry wasn't so much rioters coming into the neighborhood, but teargas wafting over, getting into the house and affecting my son. Our priority was evacuation. The house and everything in it could get replaced. The ONLY reason any firearm would have come out of the safe was if the event devolved faster than we could leave, and all evacuation routes were cut off. At that point the wife & kid would hole up an upstairs bathroom while I sat at the top of the stairs. Unless someone tried to set the house on fire or tried coming up the stairs, they aren't a threat and I'm not pointing a weapon at them.
