Lakers and Clippers just voted to boycott (technically, strike) the rest of the season. While the playoffs are going on. Remains to be seen if they will sit out playoffs while other teams continue, or if other playoff teams will join.
I've been working with a lot of Aussie police on the border checking permits with the covid restrictions for the last six weeks, the majority of them are fucking horrified at how fucked the US is and the training the cops get there.
If somebody trained in Greco-Roman grabs you, you aren’t getting away. Enjoy the ride, sucker. When you’re constantly hiring clown shoes, expect a circus to follow:
Sure as shit appears to be. And I've read elsewhere, though nothing I'd spread as "confirmed", that casings were found, suspected to have been fired from the pistol. Again, I don't know for certain though. Yet even if he never fired it, he brandished it. And nothing is being said about it on our news channels. A lot of us are asking ourselves the same thing.
They had numbers and amble opportunity, in close range, to subdue him. Firearms are a distance weapon. At that point, tasers, batons, pepper spray etc are extremely effective, and they're trained to use them as a first option (source: common sense, and also I'm friends with many cops). We was walking a good distance, for a good period, with cops literally surrounding him. What I would have done differently, is arrested him then, instead of murdering him once he decided to leave. As with everything, as more facts come out I reserve the right to change my opinion, as I think others should as well, but the video evidence right now looks pretty damning. And also, cops have demonstrated time and time again that they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt. I get the argument that "not everyone is bad!" But also the response should be: well then get the bad ones out, now.
At least one of them was pictured holding a gun. And if you think a mob of people destroying property and lighting fires are heroes, I really don't know what to say.
I'm not one to advocate killing someone over a television or a stereo. However I think about those business owners who have worked hard, invested countless hours, blood, sweat and tears into their establishment. Taken a chance and invested their life savings into it. Perhaps managed to make a go of it, build it up with the hopes of passing it on to their kids or someday selling it and having a secure nest egg to retire on. Then some group of assholes comes along and burns it down. So I understand why someone would stand guard, gun in hand, with the intent to protect it.
I agree. I cannot imagine what it would be like to work decades to build up a business and watch it be attacked. It's not a Walmart or something that would be easy to walk away from, it's a part of the family, and you'd want to protect that, as it would feel like a personal attack, not fighting against the system.
There's a very big difference between the owner on the roof with a gun giving the "move along, you don't want this fight" signal, and people traveling from other locations because they fantasize about getting to shoot a protester.
I agree 100%. I wasn't referring to this situation per se, more the overall idea of using deadly force to protect one's property.
But were talking about the people who were trying to stop an active shooter, who had an illegal weapon that he crossed state lines to use to shoot people. He wasn't defending some family business that his grandfather started. He was just looking to kill people. And every single person who was involved in him getting that gun, and traveling to use it should be in jail with him. And the Cops who gave him a pat on the back and send him home for the night should be in jail beside him. Just like the Cops who shot a guy in the back seven times because he had a knife in his car that they found after they shot him should be in jail. And after watching that press conference with the Police Chief the entire police force should be disbanded, their guns taken away and their pensions revoked and the community should look to building a proper police force with people who are actually trained and competent.
The police and their piece of shit chief deserve to be surrounded by ten thousand angry people tonight. They ARE the problem, and they aren’t getting the message. The mayor should have fired him by now, no excuses.
Yeah, if cops learned it the headlines would go from 'MAN SHOT IN BACK BY POLICE' to 'MAN GOES TO JAIL A LITTLE SORE AND TUCKERED OUT AFTER A BARNYARD THROW AND WRITHING IN POLICEMAN'S ARMS UNTIL HE GAVE UP.'
Yeah can't those rioters just destroy the city in peace? Poor guys. I have zero sympathy for people showing up to cause mayhem and then get met with a greater force than they can handle; and ironically need the cops to deal with it. Boo-fuckin'-hoo.
If you want to support the cops sending that kid home to sleep after killing two people and injuring a third I guess that speaks to your character.
