It’s one of those weird things where it hasn’t had any personal connection to me aside from the fact I used to live there, and spent enough time downtown to know it well enough. Any time there were concerts/sports events, we parked at the parking garage that’s right on that corner. Same with Boston, I went to college three blocks from the Marathon bombing but hadn’t been there in seven or eight years. As far as Nashville enduring - yeah, it will. Just like any other place where this shit happens. But I hope there’s some concrete answers soon, just to shut down conspiracy theory shit. I’ve already seen posts saying the AT&T building beside the RV was holding Dominion voting machines from the swing states that were being examined. Because THAT makes sense.
also people saying it was a terrorist attack on the infrastructure, with AT&T being right there and them warning people to get out
My brother lived a few blocks from the finish line, and is a runner, so I wasn't sure if he had gone down to watch the finish. Fortunately while my parents were panic-calling and getting blocked by congested lines, I was able to text him and get a response that he wasn't there.
Okay. Here’s my new theory, totally off the top of my head: Dude signed over TWO houses to this woman in LA, and she says she had no idea he did, but also declined to answer any questions about whether she knew him at all. I think she’s a cam model, and he found out or knew her real identity, and this was some weird unrequited love suicide bombing.
The fact that he wasn’t trying to make this a mass casualty event keeps me from thinking it was traditional right wing hillbilly shit.
Could be a very likely copycat situation. I mean, it could be real. But a parked vehicle playing a song is easy to replicate.
I'm half expecting some bullshit tweet from Trump saying "this is what happens when an American election is rigged..."
My wife and I are watching the livestream of Johnny 5 heading toward the suspicious vehicle right now. Also, MNPD authorities say the downtown RV was also blasting “Downtown” by Petula Clark before it exploded. Which is...kinda comical.
"Hey... Frank... did you put in fresh batteries?" "I thought you put in new batteries?" "well fuck..." Kind of defeats the purpose of having Johnny 5 in the first place, if the operators have to walk beside it, no?
That's got to be a hard walk to take, knowing there's a chance that the RV is full of homemade explosives...
I also don't get the thinking behind having all of those cars/people in such close and direct proximity to a potentially explosive vehicle. It's like they want to pretend it's enough of a risk to send a robot (and the handlers) to go look, but not enough to have people stay back and out of line of sight.
Sorry, I was driving and at a light when I posted. So it seems this truck was blaring “Downtown,” which the authorities confirmed the original RV was doing. Correct me if I’m wrong, but they haven’t said it was giving any countdown or anything.
Imagine accidentally swatting yourself because you're blasting 60 year old doo-wop by yourself in your car.
I'm watching a youtube feed, I don't know if it's the same as the twitter feed I posted, but at least there's some commentary. EDIT: The streamer is switching between feeds. He has helicopter views also.
