What appalls me the most is the fact that so many people are reveling in the fact that they have pretty much ruined this guy's life, for comments his friends made.
Yeah the lynch mob mentality is disturbing, especially since the stakes are so much higher. The internet makes the world the equivalent of a small town where everyone knows each other and all their skeletons.
They were his friends after all. Does anyone not think he had some idea of their mindsets on such issues? I don't agree with how it all went down on either side of the issue but, he had some idea.
Never, ever be friends with coworkers on Facebook. And do your best to lock down your page to friends only. And don't even talk about work on Facebook. Just delete Facebook. Call your ISP and cancel your service.
I kind of wonder when someone is going to take these SJW's to court. Remember the 18 year old girl who took a selfie at Auschwitz? She received death threats Yeah, that's not legal no matter how much you disliked her picture. The posts I've seen regarding this guy are ridiculous. They're posting his personal information, slandering him, and gloating that they are ruining his life. Because in their world view, his FRIENDS made inappropriate comments. All because you shouldn't be a bully online. Fucking ironic.
This. I've had to talk to a few employees about stuff over facebook. Only one instance resulted termination, though that actually involved myspace (to give you an idea of how old it was), the employees in question were already on probation and what they did basically amounted to them trying to get fired. I make it a point not to be friends on facebook with anyone at work (and if they request me I deny them and tell them why later), as what they do on there personal time is really none of my fucking business but if I see something potentially damaging I have to address it. I know that it is damaging or concerning when a co-worker or customer brings it to my attention, which is my threshold for addressing it. My standard spiel is along the lines of "we're addressing this because we have to since you put it out there. You didn't use good judgment here and I'd like to not see it happen again. Fortunately this is us talking to you and not [the police, or whomever is applicable]. Remember that everything you put on the Internet can be permanent. If you use our computer to delete the post, nothing will go in your file. Please use better judgment next time, and though I cannot tell you who reported this, please also use discretion in who you allow to view your Facebook." I have never had a single person not delete whatever the offending post was, and most thank me after (even if the consultation results in me putting something in their file). Most people just don't know what all is out there, and how easy it is for information to get passed along. I always check facebook before I interview someone. What they put on there can tell you a lot about their character and judgment, or if nothing else their interests give me something to talk about in order to get them relaxed and out of the "oh shit what crazy question is this dude gonna ask me!" mode.
Bahar Mustafa, possibly the most stupid and detestable SJW on the planet has been charged by Scotland Yard for threatening because of her #KillAllWhiteMen campaign. And the only ones coming to her defence are the people who hate her, because they believe she should still have the right to say such things. Her SJW circus seal cheerleaders meanwhile are curling up into a ball and staying silent. It just shows you what turds they truly are.
I was just reading about that whole mess. Another SJW is claiming PTSD because she's been attacked by a bunch of meanies. Her Twitter feed is precious. She's vehemently atheist, feminist, pro trans, pro LGBT, anti confederate flag, and strangely enough pro-necrophilia. Necrophilia? Yep. She linked to this article written by her husband: http://www.vice.com/read/should-corpses-be-treated-like-people-or-property-422
There is a difference between being harassed and having people post insults at you because you are unanimously declared a fucking idiot. Case in point:
I'm having a hard time figuring out if he is trolling or being serious. Isn't simply ignoring the SJW (a ludicrous term itself) the best way to go? Why even spend one minute getting frustrated over this nonsense? Unless you're just using them as comedy relief. That's cool.
More and more people are coming under the delusion that their opinions matter, when really, they don't. When their opinions don't matter, don't give them the impression that they have value, and the best way to do that is to ignore them.
I love them for comedy relief. They're the ULTIMATE comedy relief to me. However... SJW's transcend the typical obnoxious demographics of social media. Attention isn't enough and their biggest problem is they don't stop if you ignore them. They target people and places out of sheer boredom if it doesn't come to them first and they don't stop until they ruin somebody. Duke lacrosse accuser Amanda Marcotte revels in that sort of shit. THAT is their validation point: to silence anybody that disagrees with them. That is how Anita Sarkeesan and Zoe Quinn actually spoke in front of none other than UN itself about banning "cyber violence" aka "people who disagree with any opinion I have no matter how insane and made-up it is". Actual highlight from said speech: Spoiler Here's a more accurate discription: Spoiler ...she is merely the puppet of the great unfuckable loser Josh Macintosh, who writes everything she says. But together they are harmful threats because together they have a million strong following them on social media, and when they sick the dogs on someone who calls them out those white knight mobs don't stop until a life is ruined. These aren't people who have made fun out of life. They're typically disheveled, ugly wounded ex-misfits who still carry the chip of a shitty adolescence on their shoulders. Social Media is their stress doll. If they can't sink any lower, SJW's grab a diamond drill and tunnel through bedrock: take how lately they're starting to defend pedophila as another alternate to being "cis", like being gay or trans. I am not kidding. This is so much a thing that their flagship magazine, Salon, wrote a pity article on behalf on adults who just want to left alone in peace to fuck children. The recent South Park premiere of all things is what starting tumbling dominoes, but the UN speech was such an utter bed-shitting that it divided the SJW community and exposed them for the attention-whoring fakes that they are.
So, here's a question: We have discussed keyboard warriors and internet tough guys; I don't see much difference between those folks and the slacktivist/SJW crowd, just different motives. So in this day and age, where you can figure out where to find people on the internet in real life, how long is it before these SJWs have people accosting them in public and potentially assaulting them for messing with their lives? I'm pretty sure that if an individual has his life turned upside down by SJWs to the point that they lose their livelihood, that there is potential for serious blow back to these individuals. Maybe that is the answer to the SJW problem, maybe these emasculated males and feminists need to be reminded of how they were treated in high school and get another dose of public bullying? I don't know, that is not the right way to deal with it but the internet just seems to make it easier and easier for people to act out in a manner they wouldn't if they were faced with the individual and these people need to understand consequences for their actions.
she is such a sickening image. We have military people on this board. Spouses of military, friends and relatives. How insulting do you think this is: ...that brings me back to my point. She's threatening to "call the commanding officer" of anyone who so much as disagrees with her. The instinct is to sit back and let these people hang themselves, but they revel in hanging people that they've never been within a thousand mile radius of. The are fat, ugly, cackling criminals who ruin lives with the push of a button just for their own sick amusement. If this bitch was driven into suicide I would laugh.
I think the easiest way to avoid the SJWs ruining your life is to be good enough at your job that you can't be fired for being dumb. Like the guy from Duck Dynasty.
What the fuck? What's with all the hate toward people who want to change the world for the better? You guys realize that people like MLK, Rosa Parks, Ghandi, the Founding Fathers, etc. were the SJW's of their day, right? I mean I think you guys are taking SJW to mean, "annoying internet personality who's entire life is looking for ways to be offended", but when I read stuff like, She's vehemently atheist, feminist, pro trans, pro LGBT it makes me think that at least some of you believe that SJW = anyone who doesn't 100% support the status quo.
Do you think she is helping any of those causes by behaving the way she is or hurting? I would say she and others like her are detracting from the causes because it isn't about the cause, it is about them. Sitting on your tablet or phone, from the comfort of your home harassing people on social media is not furthering any cause, it is just pissing people off. To me, the people who are actually interested in furthering the social justice causes should be the ones on social media telling people like this to sit down and shut up.
If the discussion stayed on the topic of the man who lost his job and the people 'directly'(?) responsible for his firing, that would've been one thing. But what I'm seeing here and have seen a lot more of around here is that assholes like this get equivocated with all 'SJWs' who then get equivocated with anyone who advocates for progressive causes. What do Anita Sarkeesan and Melody Hensley have to do with Gerod Roth losing his job?
