Every restaurant or store I go to in the town where I work has a "now hiring" or "help wanted" sign on the door, or staked in the grass. Every one. I went by Taco Bell for lunch and the doors were locked, but the drive-thru was open. The dining room has been open. I asked in the drive-thru, and they said they don't have enough employees to open the dining room. 1/2 the high school kids and about 1/3 of the college kids are not meeting in person. What is going on with the available workforce? Are y'all seeing similar things in your towns?
Restaurants are visible, and laid off a ton of folks when the pandemic began, limiting themselves to a skeleton crew. Now that they are opening back up, they are hiring again. Also, a lot of them around here don't pay more than unemployment. Also also, many of them treat their employees like shit. The economics of this situation are still truly bizarre.
The pithy response I see on Facebook is “If unemployment is more enticing then you must be paying shit.” Lot of truth but restaurants for the owners is not exactly a winning proposition. Last I heard a few years ago the rate of return was 6%. Not enticing beyond vanity projects or the true blue dedicated lifers given the start up cost and insane failure rate.
Yes. Indeed people said it's a combination of tax return season (which we see around this time anyway), and stimulus season. A lot of the younger workforce moved back in with their parents to save money after getting laid off and now they're very comfy. We didn't lay off a single person during covid. We're just that busy now.
A couple of friends of mine own a bar and a bar/restaurant. It’s nearly impossible for them to find staff now to the point where she is bartending 7 days a week and he is cooking at the other place about the same. In addition to the issues others have pointed out, there is still the problem of limited capacity and folks still afraid to go out. Patronage of bars and restaurants here is still only 1/3 to 3/4 what it was, and tips have dropped accordingly.
So ultra fertile Christian family oldest Josh Duggar was just arrested and they aren’t saying why. What would get you arrested and held without bail by the feds?
Odds on favorite is sex trafficking, but there's decent odds on threatening to kill a Democrat at some point around Jan 6.
Probably the former rather than the latter, but who knows? It sounds like he’s been under federal investigation for about 2 years and HSI specifically does trafficking and exploitation cases. Maybe his parents can just cover it up and have the church elders give him a stern talking to again?
That’s where I don’t get how his wife and family support him. Pedophelia is the worst of the worst ever crimes. And a dude who will molest four of his sisters would be more apt than not to see his daughters as fair game. Jesus, how are these people even real. I find out my husband molested kids and there would be no worries about divorce. The unfortunate heart attack or choking or seizure he died from the next week would fix all the loose ends.
If anybody is going to find a way to support him, this clan will. All you have to do is profile them to figure out why. Have you ever looked directly into their mother’s eyes? Her pupils have small skulls in them that laugh at you. But still... no dancing. I won’t have that in this house.
There's your answer. Or rather, their twisted "quiverfull" version of Christianity. A cult is a cult and it takes precedence over all.
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/clarissajanlim/josh-duggar-charges-child-sexual-abuse-material Ooof, it's almost as bad as it gets. I'd let him near my kids about as quickly as I'd let one of them play with razor blades. Also, and I am not even close to knowledgeable about these kinds of things, but is possessing child pornography typically a federal crime? It seems like the big guns have gotten involved, which makes me think there's something else with this case or that the images were so bad they'd burn your eyeballs.
Kiddie porn is indeed a federal crime. On that he would go to Club Fed with embezzlers, corrupt LEO’s and hackers. Not nearly as bad as state prison.
In this day and age, the odds of possessing child porn without also transmitting it to/from over the internet at some point is basically zero. It's almost default an interstate (or international) crime these days.
Whenever I read these stories, they always have like terabytes of the shit too. It’s never just a few files or whatever. I’m curious if there’s other stuff too.
It always seems like these guys have massive libraries of the stuff that they can trade and or sell. It’s like a sick, twisted club where having huge stocks of porn to share is a bizarre badge of honor.
