I'm not privy to State Department information and if it does come out that they secretly evacuated tens of thousands before Kabul was over run I'll be the first to eat my hat and say "Good job Joe." What I do have right now is people that claim they have been begging the administration for months to do something and were completely ignored. I tend to believe them because what exactly would be their motivation to lie about it?
Sure, but at the end of the day, so what? Joe Biden is an idiot who needlessly created a humanitarian crisis, but again, who actually cares? Afghanistan is a shitty country with shitty people who have a shitty culture based around their shitty religion. None of which is compatible with Western civilization. India can deal with it going forward if they want. Hell, Israel can even bomb them into oblivion for all I care. As long as we are not spending any more tax dollars or American lives on it, I don’t really give a shit. We tried giving them a chance for 20 years and it didn’t take. Oh well.
Agree with everything that you say. The only hiccup with the plan is if, like in the late '90s, the shitty culture and cesspool of terrorist activity spreads and manages an intelligent, accurate, devastating attack in some unsuspecting other nation. What's clear right now is that the war in Afghanistan against terror was an expensive boondoggle that - while completely on brand - ended in a clusterfuck. What's unclear is how effective the last 20 years have been at thwarting terrorism. We don't know how many terrorist attacks were stopped, either by military action or by intelligence. If we leave it alone and all go home, is it a risk or a smart foreign policy?
I have no idea if there is a correlation between whether or not the Taliban controls Afghanistan and potential attacks against Western nations. I have zero evidence to back it up, but I’ll assume that even though the boots and bombs are pulled back, intelligence agencies will be laser-focused on Afghanistan for a very long time. I know that an intelligence/communication breakdown is partially what led to 9/11, but you know, “lessons learned” and all. I’m just tired of America having to mop up the aftermath of European colonialism.
I seem to remember there being a difference, on paper at least, between the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Like maybe the tally-ho's just want their little caliphate and to be left alone, but AQ is out there wanting their old reputation back, the one they lost to ISIS.
That's what I don't get about all of the armchair quarterbacking over this. The withdraw would have gone smoothly if the ANAL (Afghan National Army LOSERS now) did anything other than run away and piss themselves. But they did exactly that, so what options did we have? Get the fuck out asap basically. Which is what you're seeing. Of course, what citizens and the media alike are critiquing is a situation regarding which we only have part of the picture. If we were granted access to all of it, including all the TS stuff, I'm sure it would make a hell of a lot more sense. But we don't have the entire picture, so what's the point in second guessing it when even just one factor of which we're not aware could completely change the game on this?
https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/...an-remains-found-in-c-17-flying-out-of-kabul/ Why is reported as "human remains" instead of a dead body? So, maybe that video wasn't showing a body falling from the plane and it was just most of a body with the rest in the gear well?
Also technically isn’t the living, breathing what makes us human? And if we’re dead, it’s just the remains of a human. Like, this used to be a human, but Mensa Mohammed decided to hang onto the outside of a goddamn plain and now it’s just the remains of one
Probably this... there may have been more than one body that was hydraulically smushed when the gear lifted up and rotated then swung into place. Calling the biomass that was left a "body" was probably too much of a stretch.
I mean, watch this... while imagining some poor fucking idiots riding on top of it in what they considered to be a safe place. Then it closes.
Here’s an article with some pictures and video. Now with floppier legs! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...nding-gear-c-17-clambering-plane-emerges.html
