And also everyone has a knife. Saying "knife control" sounds crazy to 100% of the population whereas "gun control" only sounds crazy to a portion of the population.
Banning knives is ludicrous. Nobody and I mean nobody in their right mind would try that. http://www.snopes.com/2015/06/22/save-a-life-surrender-your-knife/ More laws, more regulation. It hasn't solved the problem, now it's time to take something else away.
I'm just gonna leave this Harvard University study right here for general perusal. http://www.beliefnet.com/News/Artic...r&utm_source=facebook.com#2ZmBmJyW5oPXvRY8.01
Uh, yeah...he was "Hunting." Deer hunter stumbles across suspected gun thief, investigators say http://fox2now.com/2015/10/19/deer-hunter-stumbles-across-suspected-gun-thief-investigators-say/
People have a right to defend themselves and their property and family against aggression using lethal force if necessary. The only weapons available with current human technology that have the capability of creating a level playing field between aggressors and defenders is the gun. Therefore, if any law inhibits that right, that law is unjust and tyrannical. Obviously we want to limit violent crime and mass shooting and accidental gun deaths, but limiting or removing guns will never be a just answer to those problems.
Diversity over democracy. Is this a good idea? Candidates should be voted for because of their race and not their character? http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/S-F-principal-middle-school-election-winners-6578286.php
Part of me wonders if the principal is actually being smarter than he's being given credit for, and is making a point about how fucked up "affirmative action" is. Because this is exactly what hiring quotas do in companies. Or he's just another zero-tolerance idiot who doesn't want to offend anyone.
Any Canadians on the board wanna offer some insight into who this Justin dude really is and if it's a good or bad thing that he's now running moose country?
I know I voted Liberal, because I agree with a lot of their positions on key issues. If you believe what they've said so far, bill C51 will be modified to be reasonable, they're going to legalize pot (I don't smoke, but the resources going into policing it are fucking insane), they're going to be more open about things like the TPPA, they're not going to rape our science programs any more, they're going to side more for the environment and less for big business, and on and on. But biggest thing is that he's not Harper. Fuck Harper in the ass with a rusty, jagged spear. Everything that Harper's government did or said was branded just like that; Harper's Government. Not Canada's Government, but Harper's Government. Everything was in secret, behind closed doors, with lots of pandering to big business and condescension to the citizens of Canada. Harper tried to pick on the fact that Justin is young, and has great hair, and that really, really didn't sit well with a large number of young voters... they got pissed, and as a result, voted in record numbers to get rid of Harper. I kind of think that was the focus of this election; not Harper. I think the "too young to know what he's doing" vibe that Harper sent towards Trudeau was enough to get the younger voters aligned with Trudeau. We'll see how he does, but it's only been a day, and he's already holding up his promise to pull out of Syria (he told Obama that on the phone when he called to congratulate him). For what it's worth, I was expecting a Liberal win, but not a majority. It should be interesting.
That sounds a lot like how Obama became president the first time around. I can't count the number of people who told me literally "I'm voting for him because he is black." And that's just the people who were open and honest about it; it wouldn't surprise me if the majority of his votes were for that reason (disclosure: I voted for him the first time around because of his social stances, voted republican for his second term).Yes, the color of someone's skin is certainly a completely legitimate reason to vote for them. So is their age, amount of hair, if they "look presidential" and whether they are male or female. I swear, there should be a True/False test regarding the candidates and their stances on basic issues for every potential voter. They have to score at least 70% in order for their vote to count.
I don't think the general voting public here was uninformed or voting strictly because of the age thing, it was because he pissed everyone off enough that they were motivated to get out and vote and ensure he was booted. Again, it was one of the largest turnouts in our history.
I am with Nett, was expecting a minority liberal. People hated Harper and wanted him out. I am just glad as fuck that the NDP never got into power. There is lots of things i like about all the parties, just wish you could pick and choose. What i am going to find interesting is people were bitching that Harper only got 39percent of the popular vote but had a majority government, guess what happened this time around? The liberals only got 39percent of the popular vote but got a majority government. I bet you aren't going to here anything about that. I wish there was some sort of proportional representation. Liberals 184/338(54.4%) - 39.5%pop vote (133.5 seats) Conservative 99/338 (29.3%) 31.9%pop vote (107.8 seats) NDP 44/338 (13%) 19.7%pop vote (66.5 seats) BLOC 10/338 (3%) 4.7%pop vote (15.9 seats) Green 1/338 (0.3%) 3.5%pop vote (11.83 seats) As you can see what percentage of the population voted for what party did not represent on how many seats they got. Which is why i like some sort of proportional representation because every vote counts. I voted, i knew it wasn't going to matter because the area i am in basically only ever votes one way(generally the NPD get at least 50percent of the votes in my riding)
