Certainly was a spike in "peaceful protest" that surrounded cars ala Reginald Denny last year (before flip your lid there were at least four I found from last year Ill find them again and post them). These laws are reactionary and short sighted. They can be applied to right wing protest when they decide to get chippy. Long guns in public as a form of "protest" will come to a head in this country. The Virginia protest a few years ago started the whole notion but was actually peaceful but with Jan 6 and this Rittenhouse case it'll be a matter of time before states start making new laws forbidding it and court challenges and so on.
Yeah. I feel as much sympathy for the people he shot as I do for Ashley Babbitt, which is zero. You don’t get to engage in lawlessness and then demand guardrails when things don’t go your way. If persistent rioting occur and the police are rendered ineffective, people are going to step in and fill the vacuum. I don’t support vigilantism, but I understand it.
Everyone references Reginald Denny because we haven't seen a similar incident since Reginald Denny. It was a fairly unique crime. People don't want to fight cars; even the dummies recognize that the Vegas line on Man vs Car hasn't moved in years. Almost invariably you find that any similar incident was preceded by the car trying to move through the crowd with some (varying) degree of force. Is it the smartest thing for protesters to smack the car after it tries to push through them? No. But no one is being pulled out of their car and murdered while just sitting there waiting for cops to get the protesters out of the road. That said, even if that weren't the case, no one is going to jail because the existing self-defense statutes are inadequate to protect them when there's a genuine threat to their life.
I would assume that's because dozens of states have hunting exemptions. It seems a pretty common thing to say "we don't want minors to possess deadly weapons, but we don't want to infringe on the hunting culture that involves teaching your kids to hunt before they're adults."
No everyone references Reginald Denny because the perpetrators were the cartoon thugs real white supremacist crone on about and it was the cornerstone footage of a huge cultural milestone of America. The ones last year just weren’t that sexy and under reported from a complicit media.
Some idiot popped one off at Atlanta Airport. His lawyer claimed that the only way to stop a bad guy with a 737-MAX is a good guy with a gun.
Bringing a gun into the busiest airport in the world? I admire that he managed to escape, holy shit. Firing a gun in an airport at screening, you pretty much maxed out with that one. You might as well TRY to run at that point, because charisma is no longer an option.
So speaking of our earlier discussion on cars driving into crowds, an SUV plowed through a Christmas parade in Wisconsin. Details are still preliminary, but police have confirmed: "Some" fatalities Roughly a dozen adults and a dozen children transported to local hospitals Person of interest in custody
CNN reporting 5 dead, 40+ wounded. There's been some info surfacing about the driver, but nothing confirmed yet.
Yeah, been waiting for confirmation but it sounds like the police aren't going to release any more information until the morning.
Darrell Brooks, 39 year old dude with a long criminal history, allegedly fleeing the scene of a knife fight shortly before his murderous driving rampage.
Man, if this happened because some idiot didn't check the road schedule... it's already a senseless crime, but that's senseless on a whole other level.
Has anyone heard it clarified if he was fleeing a scene and unfortunately didn't know the parade route, or if while fleeing he thought, "Fuck it, I'll take everyone with me?"
