I do wish we'd stop treating low gas prices like it was in the Constitution. Gas is expensive? Good. Welcome to capitalism.

The oil is still shipped in via rail and other pipelines.

But if we can't drive big trucks won't it make our dicks shrink?

The government preventing local production which promotes lower prices is the opposite of capitalism. I eagerly await a subway station being built within walking distance of my house, but until then, I have to drive.

That is vastly outweighed by the implicit subsidy of the government allowing the environmental costs of fossil fuels to be externalized.

The government does that regardless. And the prospect of forcing economic hardship over an inelastic good is laughably bad economics.

It's only inelastic in the short run. At some point we have to break the cycle. We can't keep building the way we do because gas is cheap, and then insist on subsidizing gas to keep it cheap because of how we build.

Well sure, saying that is the easy part. I don’t disagree on the point, just on the timing. There is nothing to efficiently or cost effectively replace the applications of refined oil and petroleum. The federal budget for green energy research is anemic. Those two factors need to be addressed considerably before we assume that inelasticity doesn’t exist.

Jack Dorsey is stepping down as Twitter CEO. We should all thank him for introducing the destructive cancer that is Twitter to the world. Plus the bullshit he tried to pull with NFTs about 6 months was pretty scummy. Good riddance.

Twitter? Nah, there's no taking FB's crown when it comes to antisocial media, Twitter is the much lesser evil. But if you think it's that bad now, imagine when the board installs the new CEO who wants to monetize it all.

I worry about this move just because a Republican donor bought a ton of equity and has been trying to force Dorsey out. If Dorsey stepping down means this jackwagon is getting what he wants, that's bad for everyone.

Well, we'll know if the first order of business is reinstating Cheeto Benito's account.

Twitter is bad now, but in the future it could be Facebook.

Maybe it'll get so bad that it will kill itself.

Not far from the way AIDS is. Quitting Twitter is curing yourself of disease.

That’s my hope for all of it. Then we can return to sites like this again, which I prefer.
