My sister was born in Manitoba, I'll have you know, so you better fucking acknowledge! Thompson, Manitoba, circa 1971. Fun times! Guess which one I am...
But yeah, a few times over the last year the local news has been showcasing really young kids who are all up in certain movements. The full on soccer mom meets Great Thunberg effect. My favourite has been where the kids were talking about expressing their first amendment rights, with their teacher looking on all proud. FAIL.
We have a Charter of Rights, a Criminal Code and a Constitution of Canada. The judge said right off the bat “What are first amendment rights?” How can you be mad about something when you don’t know what country you’re living in? These people are generating their beliefs and their frustrations from American media then venting it here not on Twitter, but right in public on citizens. Politics have become the new sports: you ferociously back your side to the point of screaming debate and physical violence, you’ll here NOTHING from fans of the opposing team, and sometimes you’ll cheer for teams in other states/produces and even countries— to the point you become so obsessive you think you’re one of them.
As an outsider to other countries it's always kind of sad seeing foreigners glibly extole how their countries don't have the same value on certain freedoms and that they aren't enshrined in their founding documents as some sort of weird point of pride. You can let your government steamroll you on concepts found in our 1st Amendment because you don't have it, good on you I guess?
I was, but as it turns out, young kids sleep a lot which is why I never fully dropped off. Sorry to disappoint you. How did you prop her up and keep her eyes open for the picture? Anyway, thoughts and prayers.
Putin: I’m gonna say these two places are independent states! The West: What actually happens remains to be seen, but it seems to be getting closer to “dicks on the table” time.
Emergency Measures Act passed in parliament. The Law and Order Party unsurprisingly voted against it. I'm looking forward to the public inquiry. The temper tantrum on twitter is as dumb as expected. Apparently Canada isn't a real nation anymore.
