It's still ongoing I believe. I read the book a while ago (by the same author as Into The Wild, Into Thin Air, and Where Men Win Glory) and there's a lot more of the history of Mormonism in it. It's like Krakauer wanted to write a true crime book, and then realized he couldn't do it without also explaining the entire history of Mormonism that underpinned everything these people did.
I remember someone posting a clip that is was hard to identify some of the children and they remarked what could possibly have happened to not be able to identify a child. This is probably the worst thing I've ever typed but it sounds like he just kept shooting them long after they were murdered.
This tweet seems to support your theory. https://twitter.com/NatashaBertrand/status/1530225232862224393
Justin Trudeau is banning all sales/ trades of handguns in Canada. How do y'all feel about that up in the great white North?
Here's something different: The Hell's Angels and the Vagos got into a gun fight on the freeway here yesterday.
I am going to add to my earlier post. We really don't have a gun problem. Pistols/black scary guns are already restricted, which means extra courses, way more paper work. And you can only go from your house to the range. No back country shooting, no passing go. It is a pain in the ass to own restricted weapons, which is why you dont see people using legal restricted guns illegally. So most fire arms related crime is with illegal weapons. This really pisses me the fuck off. The first time in my adult life i was actually leaning away from voting conservative, now they would really have to fuck up for me not to vote for them. Just leave my fucking guns alone.
Dumbass just created a massive black market for something where there wasn’t one. I’m sure everyone living in urban areas is super happy right now.
So there's seriously not going to be any real discussion about what Trudeau just did? Everyone has been running their mouths about what should or shouldn't be done about guns for the past week, and yesterday, a major world official has made a huge decision about guns/ gun rights.
Im done having this discussion. Why Im staying out of this one. Ive been having it my whole life. Ive made my thoughts clear previously. Ill vote for those who represent those positions. You vote for the person that represents yours. Moving on.
yeah I'm genuinely curious to see the canadian take on it. I have a good friend who lives in Toronto, she's VERY anti-gun -- scared of them, and justifiably so, after being held up at gunpoint while she was pregnant. But she's also reasonable in acknowledging that just because she believes one way doesn't mean that's the best solution. She thinks there's gonna be some massive unintended consequences in terms of the smuggling of firearms across the border, and in terms of the expense of prosecuting and jailing those who have now and will become criminals with the law. However, I simply don't know enough about Canadian culture and law to feel like I should have a strong or informed opinion on this. We have gun rights as part of our Constitution, they don't. Do Canadians use pistols for defense against 4 legged critters as much as I think they would in the wilderness? As a rule, I want the same or greater force than criminals use. In the US, you sadly never know who's gonna go crazy and who has a gun, so it makes sense to own one for self defense. But how common is crime up there? Do they commit it with baseball bats and stern warnings, or are they firing shots when things go south? If banning the sale of new pistols isn't a big deal in Canadian culture, then I don't see why it'd be a big deal to me.
He proposed the legislation, but it still has to be passed into law, right? But, Canada does not have a constitutional right to gun ownership to overcome.
Yeah, fuck the trucker’s protest. Those people are fucking losers who terrorized a city, and they’re being treated as criminals like they deserve.
