He was allegedly muttering "No more baby parts" according to an unnamed source. This is where the problem lies. We have limited hard facts. What we basically know for sure is a white guy shot 9, killed 3 in a PP clinic. That's it. Everyone is twisting this to fit their own narrative, The Left and The Right. I've heard cries of racism, terrorism, transgenderism, "Fuck the GOP", "Fuck the Liberals", gun control, "Fuck Christians", "Keep the Refugees Out", "Let the Refugees In", blah, blah, blah. All based on the known facts of white guy shoots up a PP clinic. And this is why noting ever get accomplished, everyone is so quick to twist, distort, and blame someone/something who they don't feel aligned with.
From the BBC... http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34954474 I guess people are going to presume to have opinions about me, regardless of what I actually do or don't say. However, I hope the evidence before us suggests that it is far more reasonable to assume a link with the Planned Parenthood videos from a few months ago than it is to assume a link with Syrian refugees or transgenderism.
Sad this is what the world has come to: Had a mother and son apply for work yesterday. The "son" (who was translating and looked a little old for his mother) said they just got here from France a few days ago. When he spoke to his mother, I don't know what language they were speaking but it wasn't French or any dialect I've heard. When he saw the part of the application asking for a SSN, he asked me if it was required. Said they don't have one, and then did the "I don't understand" when I asked when they would be getting one. It saddens me that I was immediately suspicious of them and saw a bunch of perceived red flags, despite their otherwise congenial attitudes. I hate that my immediate inclination was "I should report this on the off chance that..." instead of "I should at least interview them because they're unique and everyone deserves at least a chance." Will update if they return their applications.
I don't think you're wrong that the video in question is possibly related to the shooting. On some level the anti-abortion propaganda is almost certainly related. However, questionable editing aside, the people who made that video bear zero responsibility for these murders. We don't, and shouldn't tip toe around how to present a narrative because someone much more reprehensible might take action far beyond the speaker's intent. You can't have freedom of speech and then condemn people because their controversial words might encourage the pathologically insane. That's the trade off. If you want freedom you have to accept that people are responsible for their own actions. I'm not defending the video. I'm just saying I can't blame them any more than I would someone vocalizing their gripes with Israel's foreign policy for encouraging terrorism.
The fake PP video is not responsible directly for this guy's delusional actions any more than Stephen King was for a school shooting in the 80s where the little shit credited the novel Rage as his inspiration. However, Rage has not been in print since 1988ish at King's behest. There is also a line between art and propaganda (sometimes blurred by fascists and Mel Gibson). The end goal for the PP video was to manipulate a change in perception of a public health service. Free Speech? Yes. Until it becomes slander. I have no doubt they were hoping some nutter would shoot the place up. I've been around evangelicals my whole life and I know their souls are dog shit. But, that's not proof, just my experience and my unscientific opinion. Remember PP bombings are nothing new. http://mic.com/articles/129329/a-fo...F_ca7fdb6a054741fa95c9c1c869c66654#.7hXvQDFEV The above link are the acts perpetrated against a Kansas PP. Alls I'm sayin' is that aside from BLM, there is a qualitative difference in the messages by conservative movements, including the elected Tea Party, than liberal movements. You can say what you want, but you better own up that half truths, lies, and tacit incitements to violence have a profound effect on the lives of innocent people. Edit: let me clarify. Not that either side has to qualify a protected speech. But, to what end is that message when it is predicated upon lies and misinformation, and is it worth dead Americans when it does not even effect your personal life.
True that the world has become a sadder and more complicated place. I hope you are familiar with the requirements of USCIS form I-9, which requires, among other things, documentary proof the employee has the right to work in the U.S. This could be a valid work visa (H-1B, L, O. P. etc.), a U.S passport, a "green card", an employment authorization card (Form I-766), etc., etc. It is, but of course, more complicated than that. But that's a start. Review the I-9 instructions and follow exactly or suffer the consequences. The USCIS Handbook for Employers should answer most any question you may have. Failure to properly complete and retain Form I-9 for all employees can expose the employer to fines in the tens of thousands of dollars.
And if there are no threats, well, why not just make them up? http://www.nj.com/union/index.ssf/2..._threat.html#incart_2box_nj-homepage-featured
I tend to think that this kind of stuff is really exacerbated by the advent of social media. The entire "look at me, pay attention to me" narcissism is becoming not just a desire, but a need to some people, and they are motivated to satisfy that need more and more. That, and the seemingly unquestionable, "trump card" that most SJW subjects carry with them, makes this kind of action really good ROI, assuming you're not stupid enough to get caught.
People like being victims because of the attention it generates and the fact that it excuses them from introspection. Its just Munchausen Syndrome.
I agree that the people who made the videos aren't responsible for the murders (I've already said as much), and if that's the impression I'm giving, then I've been imprecise with my words. I'm not about trying to silence them or censor them. However, it's worth asking the question - if there are extremist preachers who attempt to stir up radicalist sentiments among Muslims, what do we say about them when one of their flock commits a crime? Maybe that preacher hasn't committed a crime (or maybe he has, depending on the language used), maybe we don't censor him or arrest him for his speech, but at the very least we can unequivocally say that guy is an asshole and disapprove of what he says, instead of hand-wringing about letting him express the narrative that he wants. The question of fetal tissue donation absolutely depends on one's perspective, and there's always going to be a narrative to drive no matter who is telling the story. I have to think there is a more intellectually honest way to have a discussion about it than to hire an actor to pose as a researcher, secretly video tape some conversations, edit them, and then release them. These are people who claim to be more morally upright than Planned Parenthood, and are motivated by their religious beliefs. Nothing inherently wrong with that, but they ought to hold themselves to some standards. If they believe that abortion violates the commandment to do no murder, then what excuses them from violating the other commandment about not bearing false witness against their neighbour? What exactly was the goal of the people making the videos? We can at least say they weren't looking to delve into the issue of fetal tissue donations in any great detail or honesty. By all means, produce a documentary or a book or a long form news article that explores the issue and that poses hard questions to Planned Parenthood, and let them have an honest opportunity to respond. Instead, they were shamelessly trying to pursue an agenda against Planned Parenthood by misrepresenting the reality of what occurs and making it seem as though they were indiscriminately selling baby parts for profits and jeopardizing patient safety in the process. Since that's clearly not what happens... what conclusions are we left to draw about the makers of the video? Sure, they have the right to make that speech, I'm not contesting that, but let's not pretend they were just expressing an honest opinion. Of course, we see in this thread that I'm the one being blamed for pushing an agenda, I'm the one who is twisting things to fit my own narrative, and blaming people who I'm not aligned with. Even in the absence of this shooting, even if we discover that the shooter never actually did say "no more baby parts", even if he didn't know Planned Parenthood from a Chuck-E-Cheese, the film makers are the ones who have pushed their agenda and twisted reality to fit narrative in a far more egregious way than I have.
I've touched on this in the past but wanted to put this out there for everyone's consideration. I realize that this topic is highly politically charged and I don't want to debate politics just to hear thoughts on issue raised and that is the American Contract. Most of us took Civics in high school and learned how Government worked; we also learned about the Government's contract with America so to speak. If you do certain things, then the Government will provide you with certain services. As I recall it, it was if I go to work and pay my taxes, then after you retire there will be certain benefits there for you. In the here and now, everyone is aware that costs for programs have gone up and tax revenue does not meet requirements to cover all of the Government's commitments. As such, the Government, for quite some time, has undertaken deficit spending through bonds. In recent years the Government has gone further, they have allowed the Federal Reserve to create money with which they are purchasing bonds as well. So my question(s) to you all is this: Does everyone recognize that this is a problem? How do we address this problem? What should get cut or what alternate means will we use to fund these programs? Social Security: We pay this from every paycheck but take a look for yourselves as to it's condition: https://www.cbo.gov/publication/49795 Medicare & Medicaid: Hospitals are years behind in many cases in receiving federal/state funds to cover expenses already incurred. Additionally here is this: https://www.socialsecurity.gov/OACT/TRSUM/index.html ACA: This program is showing the strain as well already: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money...grade-obamacare-affordable-care-act/76040322/ Military Spending: We spend more than the next 9 largest economies combined. https://www.nationalpriorities.org/campaigns/us-military-spending-vs-world/ Current Government Debt (Of note, we spend 7% of GDP annually just maintaining our current debt and finance that debt with more debt): http://www.usgovernmentdebt.us/ Deficit Spending: https://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/attachments/budgetinfographic.pdf Now, I am not here to try and argue against social welfare programs or the military or any other initiative, only to recognize that there is a severe problem that must be addressed; I also recognize that each of these topics above could spur their own debate and rightly so but for now I am only looking at the 100,000 foot view of the situation. Something else to consider when we talk about cutting programs: The military, the war on drugs, TSA and many other high-dollar Government initiatives, when you boil it down, are essentially jobs programs. Cutting these programs would be putting people out of work and putting further strain on the system in another area. So where do we go from here?
Sweet Jesus. If this is true, it will blow up all over the place by tomorrow. The Southern Poverty Law Center tweeted: SPLC @splcenter 5h5 hours ago Leaked Documents Reveal Dothan Police Dept. Planted Drugs on Young Black Men For Years I've only found a few minor sources for the story, but this is horrible if true.
http://henrycountyreport.com/blog/2...ars-district-attorney-doug-valeska-complicit/ Note that not only is the DA complicit, so are the involved supervising officers are the current department chief and the state Director of Homeland Security.
Yeah, it's not loading right now for me either... definitely DDOS'd. It's pretty fucking damning info, with some seriously solid evidence behind it, if what is reported is true. Shit will definitely fly over this.
Here's another source http://www.occupydemocrats.com/expl...es-of-planting-guns-drugs-on-innocent-blacks/
Just told my fiancé his hometown cops are planting drugs on peeps. "If that's true, fuck them," was his reply. When I said the DA was complicit, he yelled "Oh, fuck him too." There's some bad blood between his family and the DA. Cops like this piss me off to no end and make us all in law enforcement look bad. I have no earthly idea what makes someone cross over that line because fuck those shitty excuses for cops that do this.
Oh, I have an idea (from the above twitter link): I am very tired of hearing how there is no such thing as institutional racism. It exists heartily in the south, and probably always will. Hell, Trump is running on a platform of it.
