Genuinely hilarious how mad conservatives are about this right now. "The FBI didn't kill Kathy Griffin!" yeah, because when the feds knocked on her door to ask about it, she didn't tell them she'd shoot them if they ever came back, and then go on to post a threat against the President referencing a specific location and weapon, guaranteeing the feds would come back.
It's got a real "they didn't arrest Biden for having classified documents" vibe. Just the dumbest false equivalencies one could make.
Here’s the affidavit, complete with screenshots of posts. https://www.scribd.com/document/664023372/223mj722-Robertson-Complaint-FINAL-v-1-Redacted-Updated I probably have one former coworker who believes this is a false flag operation.
There's been quite a few prominent right wing people on Twitter saying how this is evidence of Biden's DoJ being weaponized against everyday citizens and how they told you this would happen. One guy even went so far as to say, and I quote, "The guy's offense was posting meme's on social media about political figures..." How fucking delusional do you have to be to actually say something like that out loud? It's starting to get to a point where I don't see how the US ever gets back to a place of semi-normalcy without there being an actual civil war where we just have to kill these people and their ideas for good.
One of my best friends is a US Marshal and we've loosely chatted before about some of the idiots he locks up and serves warrants on. It's amazing how far you have to go to get a warrant like this. Free speech is allowed way past what I would consider the line. They met with him earlier this year. He could have stopped with the actual threats, and just kept bragging amongst his friends.
From inside the bubble, there's a concern around the attention this is getting and people's posts probing the limits of what the LEO community will accept. This dude definitely fucked around and found out, when he totally didn't have to. He won't be the last, unfortunately. I think there's a lot of tall talk from these folks, but by and large, they have never been in the justice system, nor on the receiving end of this attention. The reality of being seen as an enemy of the state, with all the life dismantling that entails will probably serve as a disincentive.
If there is one group that loves testing the limits to the letter of the law it’s gun owners. This guy barreled right through it and earned a visit from the FBI. Gun fights with federal agents is not going to work out too well for your health.
Serious question: Does anyone know if they knocked on his door and he went apeshit, or did they kick in the door and he, thinking it was an intruder grab his gun and try to defend himself only to be riddled with bullets?
https://www.deseret.com/2023/8/9/23826780/witnesses-fbi-kill-utah-man-threats-biden-social-media Sounds like they announced themselves over megaphone, then tried to take the door with a ram, then finally with the vehicle, at which point he opened fire. Neighbors were well aware the FBI was there prior to the ram being used, so there's pretty much no chance he didn't realize who he was shooting at.
Appears to be another one of their patented pre dawn break the door down and totally announce before they crossed the threshold, we swear, while they're still waking up from the door being smashed in raids. Article makes it seem like they set up, surrounded the house, and megaphone announcement to entry, to gunshots was fairly quick. Not some protracted standoff or shootout. Knowing the type he probably had a glock tucked in his tighty whities.
It's not like they were gently announcing their presence after they had met with the dude and told him to knock it the fuck off. If they are using a ram, they don't want to allow time for someone to become better equipped. This guy was given every chance to desist, UNTIL they roll up with SWAT. At that point, you've chosen the hard way and you're going to get it. They do not roll up like that to offer a soft way out or to negotiate, and the fact that it was over in seconds means that they executed well on their plan to disarm and neutralize a threat, not talk someone down.
I get it he's a fat dead edgelord. Sounds like they could have picked him up on his short drive to church or waddled to get his mail. I still don't trust the government with morning raid tactics. It creates a violent situation instead of diffusing it. You end up getting black people snuffed out with crust still in their eyes with cops amped up to get it on.
The diffusion happened way earlier. He didn't listen. Dude was given a chance to stop and he didn't take it. They supposed to play patty cake when he is talking about assassination? Maybe they are making an example out of him, since he didn't listen. But let's not pretend this came down out of the blue, or that he wasn't goading them with his refusal and his behavior. 99% of the time this is uncalled for and a heavy hand can always be avoided. No argument on this one....easily avoided, and no need for this dude to be in a box. Who has the blame for that outcome? How many chances? How long does this dude keep it up and how far does he go if he's not neutralized? Whose job is it to take this threat seriously, even if it's laughable to the rest of us? Ugly and hard questions. The could, woulda should from the arm chair is one thing, but let's not pretend that the rhetoric coming out of these.folks is something thst our security apparatus should ignore. Those days ended on January 6th.
