I would estimate that after they soften the place up, they will probably have troops going from building to building looking for anything weapons-related, tunnel entrances, etc until the place is fully demilitarized. The big thing is to avoid prolonged urban combat because that gets ugly real quick.
The stream just had a commercial break. The ad they showed was for Volkswagon where a suicide bomber gets into a VW and then blows himself up but does no damage outside of the car and ends with how VWs are built strong. Lol.
I knew I recognized that! Turns out it was a fake ad, or "spoof ad," created by two people who also make real commercials. Caused a bit of a controversy back in 2005.
US is confirming the report that Egypt did warn Israel The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the American House of Representatives, Michael McCaul, revealed that Egypt warned Israel of "such an event" three days before the start of the war. "We know that Egypt warned the Israelis three days before, that such an event could happen," McCaul said. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-67082047
This is an absolutely inexcusable failure. They could have prevented over 1,000 people being slaughtered.
The conspiracy is that Netanyahu wanted a casus belli to finally wipe Gaza off the map. The more realistic answer is that his government's more aggressive policies with regard to the West Bank have diverted focus and resources away from Gaza and left a security gap wide enough for Hamas to drive several Toyotas through en route to slaughtering a music festival.
What's more likely is that the Egyptians told the Israelis "we have indicators Hamas is planning something, but no further information." It's exceedingly difficult to defend against an undefined threat.
It's going down, I'm yelling TIMBER!!!! (by the way, this dude is the single best news source I've found. Truly does not have an agenda other than to keep the old school journalism alive)
We might be conflating two things. Blinken said he saw pictures of a baby that had been shot, as well as soldiers that had been beheaded. I haven't seen anywhere where the baby beheading was confirmed, although Biden did reference it before the administration walked it back, so it's likely floating around in Israeli reports, although unconfirmed at this point.
It all stems from the one on-site reporter who only heard as much from the soldiers on the scene, she never actually saw it but it's what they told her. But now everybody's walking backwards so clearly it didn't really happen as described, however the tale has already been told and is currently deep within the Internet Misinfo Machine. I doubt they'll even try to root it out.
I'm not going to link the photos, but the beheaded baby thing is true. There's also a bunch of photos of babies burnt to a crisp floating around, which again, I'm not going to post here.
