Probably, the defense strategy was just horrible, trying to paint the mom as a hyper-vigilant parent, that the shooters action weren't foreseeable in the least. It just wasn't believable and the prosecution obviously adapted and brought all that out, some of which had been excluded before defense opened themselves up to it. We need clear lines drawn on where a parents responsibility begins and ends. I don't think this case did that. Firearms storage is a clear line. The amount of filth a person chooses to live in, or whether they're immoral, isn't. Not that I keep a dirty house, or run around on my wife, or don't put my kid's needs above my own. I still don't like the way it was argued and the conviction reached.
When will we stop putting morons on television? 3:18 to 3:32 might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard one say. I mean the whole clip is fucking dumb, but that 14 seconds is super low.
Fucking... apparently so. It's democrat to not want guns in school. They only charged these parents because the Michigan governor wants to be president. They don't have involuntary manslaughter in other states. 14 seconds. It took him 14 seconds to say all those things.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/house-intel-chair-warns-serious-national-security-threat-ahead-planned-rcna138848 A ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee stated “ People should not panic-that is unequivocal “ Which means we should absolutely be panicking.
This is super weird. The Gang of 8 hasn't even been briefed yet. I don't know what Turner is doing with this announcement.
Source says the issue is about Russia wanting nukes in space. I really misheard it when they said it on the news at first:
So what? Our Star Wars missile defense system would just shoot them down. Wait, that was all bullshit? Who would have guessed.
Am I the only who is skeptical about the timing of this revelation? This is right before they're going to vote on the Ukraine aid package. Right after Cucker Carlson got back from sucking Putin's dick. Based on what I've seen over the last couple of, well, decades, I wouldn't really have much faith in any sort of outer space missile system that Russia could put up. The fact that they're telling us about it means that they've known about it for awhile (Remember the Chinese spy balloon?). Isn't this what Space Force is for? Or let me guess, they're about to ask for a shitload of money "for Space Force."
That is basically what Space Force is for, that and overseeing the satellite infrastructure. Plus they had been testing "direct energy technology" the last few years.
Before I dig into this at work, my layman's understanding is this is a big no-no because of the threat to the satellite and communications array up there. We've got 70 years worth of treaties on where and how nuclear testing, deployment, stations, etc. on the ground can work, and Russia's de-proliferation has been one of the under-reported successes going back to the 1990's. They aren't thinking of using this on the ground. A nuke in space would fuck up the communication infrastructure to an apocalyptic degree, and if they somehow developed a new ability to target specific areas heavily saturated with infrastructure that would hurt us. The most likely scenario is they have a new ability to trigger a sudden return to the stone age, that has happened outside of a treaty or agreement, etc.. The downside risk is trillions in rapid space repairs (some of which Russia is the only country on Earth capable of doing/supporting), and a massive collapse in anything depending on satellite communications. I bet folding money that whoever helped them develop this new capacity is a neighboring land that we're not too fond of as well. It's the 2024 version of the Cuban missile crisis...except the timing of this being unveiled right as the Ukraine bill hits the vote...My thought is the administration ok'ed DOD telling Congress this intel to help get the Ukraine bill over the finish line, now that it's not an argument over how much. We've agreed on the terms of the bill, so before you fuckers back out, here's why we're spending this money. DC has had an interesting 72 hours, given the cop shooting and helicopter traffic.
Wouldn't the fallout from this debris field this kind of attack would generate be insane? They already have huge issues tracking every little piece of space junk, and I think it was just just this last year that a piece of junk penetrated the ISS. I can't imagine what blowing up a large field of satellites would do to the next 20-30 years of space travel.
It may just be for EMP purposes, but yes....it'd be quite a cluster fuck. FOR THE RECORD: Not looking at this at work yet, so this is just lay speculation.
The Kessler syndrome. There’s a quarter million things floating up there, many of it travelling five times faster than a high-speed bullet while stuck in gravity. They hit each other, they turn into many, MANY projectiles flying every which way. A paint chip could rip through an astronaut spacesuit like it’s tinfoil. The speed is unreal. The ISS circles earth sixteen times a day without thrust.
Which part? The licensure being degraded to make it too easy, the HAM community being full of lunatics or equipment becoming prohibitively expensive?
I think he was just trying to tell you when the zombie apocalypse hits, don't try and reach him on the HAM.
