I am crying at the thought of Russians being "terrorized" by the cast of "Queer Eye". Like Ivan Drago in tears going "he kept saying my cheekbones were cringe. Ivan not know what means, but know it (sob) hurts!!"
Jesus Christ. A ship in Baltimore just rammed and destroyed the entire Francis Scott Key bridge. It collapsed into the channel like it was Lego falling apart.
That's going to be a huge issue in the area. The port will be shut down and a lot of important truck shipping had to use that bridge as they are barred from using the tunnel.
I was like "wait a second, that bridge sounds familiar. Must be large enough there's CCTV video of it..." holy fucking shit. This is going to be a mass casualty event another angle. Apparently the ship had lost power, they called it in to the Harbor Master who shut down the bridge (which is why all the emergency vehicles were on there). It regained power shortly before it struck and they attempted to put it in full reverse, which is where all the black smoke is coming from, but too much forward momentum at that point. Early reports indicating most of the vehicles on the bridge were emergency and maintenance shutting it down, though there were still some vehicles passing over as you can clearly see in that video.
Christ. At least 7 missing and a dozen cars underwater. This happened at 130 am. Gf and ex are both safe, thank God. What a nightmare
It’s not like it’s just some highway overpass, that was a massive superstructure that bypassed a major shipping port. It just broke apart like early 90’s video game. Has there been anything like this on the continent since Tacoma Narrows?
Something about this really rubs me the wrong way. Because you can see the ship is already heading for the correct path between the pillars. Then it loses power, and it's only after power returns that you can see it turn towards the pillar, engines on full. Who was controlling the ship at that point? https://x.com/LeonSimons8/status/1772560697479618806?s=20
Frank would never do anything to hurt the pier. Now that little fuck face Ziggy, he might have done some scheming.
I, too, am very suspicious about this, for a few reasons. One, I wouldn't rule this out as sabotage by China. Two: what is the safety record of that bridge? Was everything up to code? I don't expect a bridge like that to just shrug off a hit from a ship, but Goddam, that thing went down like it was paper mache.
Now that that is a thing that can happen, you can bet your ass there will be new codes and your tax dollars engaged to ensure that one particular thing can't happen again.
It might not have had all engines running at that point. Maybe just the port engine was giving reverse thrust, causing the ship to spin that direction. Just throwing a boat into reverse will change its heading, it's called prop walk. I don't know for sure, but it is a possibility.
Yeah, that is pretty far-fetched. A state-sponsored terrorist attack by China against infrastructure would be a direct act of war. If they were going to go that route, they would probably hit the GWB with a missile during rush hour or something.
And just because the engines are running does not mean that drive is engaged... so that huge amount of exhaust does not mean that drive/thrust was happening. I also wonder what the currents are like on that river. I'm sure lots of tinfoil hat theories will be running rampant, but sometimes a shitty mechanical failure is just a shitty mechanical failure.
