I think this is exactly why he won't do it. NATO absolutely cannot afford to allow the pandora's box of nuclear blackmail to be opened. They cannot allow a world in which unrestricted nuclear proliferation is the goal of every regime, and conquest-via-threat-of-nuclear-annhiliation is the accepted meta. If Putin uses a nuclear weapon, NATO has to respond, if for no other reason than to terrify any other dictator who even considers engaging in similar behavior. Putin knows this. He also knows that he has yet to face NATO's most formidable weapons. He has seen no F-22s, F-35s, or B-2s targeting his radar and anti-aircraft capabilities. He has seen no waves of F-15s, Eurofighters, F-16s, and Grippens following after and eliminating anything that dares take the skies. He has seen no tomahawks with a range nearly 10x that of anything that's been given to the Ukrainians so far. If he uses a nuclear weapon against Ukraine, but NATO responds by sinking every Russian ship at sea and destroying every airfield and weapons depot within 500 miles of the Russian border, what has Putin really gained?

His best bet is the plan he's taken so far: ramp up active measures, and pray that the Western powers are stupid enough to elect pro-Russian stooges like Trump.

Wow. The spleen is substantially smaller than the liver. It would be easier to confuse it with a kidney.

Whoa. My cousin has a Senior and lives in Winder. I texted her and waiting to hear back if that's his school. It's only 5 miles from where they live.

    Edit - Not his school.

I was not prepared how cold my blood felt when my kindergartener recounted his first school lock down drill. To him, it was just a game of hiding in the closet in the dark. He has no understanding why they did it. He understands the reason for fire drill they had two days later.

I really struggle explaining & getting him to understand that there are people in the world who are not nice and wish to harm him.

Shooter surrendered and is 14 years old. Weird.

One of the kids interviewed afterward said she - a junior - sat beside him in their algebra class.

Gifted kids usually take algebra in 8th grade. This may be a case not of him being gifted, but of her being a bit slow.

I was in eighth grade when I was 14…taking algebra.

Maybe it’s both? But if he’s gifted, it’s a shame he didn’t just push down the depression and anxiety until he was in his late 30’s, you know, like the rest of us did.

The FBI stated that the shooter was "on their radar" last year. WTF does a 13 year old kid do to get the attention of the FBI?

I don’t know, but when the next school shooting happens (probably before the end of me typing this post), we’ll find out of that one is “one their radar” as well, whatever the fuck that means— I’m guessing “Meh, let’s just see what happens”.

it’s a great thing he was on their radar, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to tell us that they had him on their radar. And did nothing that helped. I wonder if mom and/or dad “helped”.

Apparently he had been talking about it for a long time if that's the case.

Am I the only one who thinks this is bullshit? That's what they have been saying about literally EVERY shooter for the past couple of years.

The FBI has a literal radar network that covers the lower 48, specifically for the purpose of saying the phrase.
