A girl I was into in high school picked some douchebag over me. She was into short kings or something, who knows. He ended up assaulting a 15-year-old girl at a wedding he was attending with his girlfriend (the one I liked). They had gotten engaged and ruined both of their lives. At that moment, I found happiness.

Ok, I sorta of fibbed on the club's split. I didn't want to sway anyone before hearing the rest of the story but I'd say the majority of the club's vocal opinions seem to be about 70% of being ok with what he did. Which my wife and I are having a hard time with. The board met tonight and we'll see what happens but I've been keeping tabs on who is cool with him and who isn't.

It's public record and an anonymous person mailed the court documents to every member of the club. It made me ill to my stomach to read it. I'll spoiler the Cliff's Notes of what he did because it might be triggering to parents.

Dude performed oral sex multiple times on his 10-11 year old daughter

70% are okay with that? I mean Jesus fucking Christ.

What kind of people are fine with that? Maybe rethink your own membership?

Nope. If he doesn't get kicked out, it would completely ruin the club for me.

I'm a big believer that people can change, criminals can change and live a good life. Except for people that do shit like that. He was sexually attracted to a minor, and acted on those feelings. You know what they say, you can't change who you're attracted to, so that is the one exception to my belief that all people can change.

Nope, fuck him. And fuck that organization if they allow him to continue to be a part of it.

And with 70% apparently okay with it, I'd be looking for a new social club either way.

You can find another motorcycle club. Ones that only have meth dealers as their worst criminals.

70% are okay with it?!? Wtf, are you in Utah?!?

70% are willing to ignore something to avoid confrontation and change. I’d just bow out.

I would forever be looking at these fuckers sideways wondering, if they’re okay with that, how many of them are incestuous pedophiles. If that many folks are okay with it he’s not the only one.

No fucking shit. This isn’t stealing license plates here. There is no reason to “be okay” with that.

My first thought when I hear about a crime like that is “Why did her father allow him to still use his legs?”

    Same.

That guy sexually assaulted a child that he was supposed to protect and care for. He should be a pariah.

If any group I was in deemed this person to be an acceptable member, I would find a new group.

Because the offender WAS the father. Key point.

Not that non-incestuous pedophilia is acceptable.

I’m willing to bet the idea of full confrontation of this issue is extremely uncomfortable. And if it’s a small group in a low population place, the fallout would probably wreck the community. In no way is this a justification. But I’m saying the social fallout is probably more than some people are willing to deal with. Look at the Catholic Church for instance. A lot of heads in sand on that one.

Or I could be all wrong and this social group is just wholesale fucked.

    Co-signed from Boston.

A lot of these insular communities, especially long-standing social communities, have just shit swept under the rug. Thats what that Murdaugh guy got away with so much of his bullshit until he murdered his wife and son.

I have two relatives who are nuns, we had the parish priest over for dinner, hell I even ran discussions during youth group retreats as a teenager. My family is very catholic and I absolutely despise the church and everything to do with it.

If you’re not a brain dead idiot, which apparently is a very low bar these days, you can turn your back on that institution.

Agreed. I walked away from the Church as soon as I was on my own. My good friend from college became a priest and shit. Left the Church a few years ago entirely and is engaged to a former nun. He said the entire organization is rotted from the inside-out. The priests are a lot more like the ones in The Young Pope than purveyors of religious wisdom. And you know, child molesters.

I agree with you - but the end result is the same for me, in that it means I can't really trust the people in the group, and you'll have to be exposed to this pedophile regularly.

I'd rather find a new group of people to hang out with.

My sentiments exactly on all points.

The guy did his time & that's fine. Good for him. That doesn't mean I have to associate with him.

As Nett said: Fuck that guy and fuck that club if the majority are ok with letting him remain a member.

Yeah someone serving their time in prison and getting out is one thing (for some things), but there's no statute of limitations attached to country club memberships or requirements to associate with a monstrous scumbag.
