That horse looks to be a 100lbs underweight, his coat is coarse and ragged due to a slight lack of nutrition. I would watch and see if his condition worsens. He should be about to shed that coat, which should reveal the state of his ribs more clearly. Like Binary said, some horses show more than others. In motion, you should see them slightly. I would be concerned that this horse isn't being supplemented well, as they get older they need more than hay to support their health. That or his teeth need work, they could be too long and making it hard for him to chew his hay correctly. If he isn't looking better in a month, it may be time to get involved some way. I would contact a local horse rescue, to avoid the glue factory.
This may be a stupid question, but I'm looking for impartial opinions. I was at a funeral on Friday and while I was out, one of my clients emailed me looking for a quote. She copied the Sr. VP of my department because they're buddies and Sr. VP likes to keep tabs on what's going on with her friends/clients. Sr. VP answered the email "on my behalf" and told my client that I was out "at a funeral and too distraught to reply to messages". My question - she overstepped a line. Where I am is not the business of my clients - and suggesting that my level of distress somehow impedes my ability to do my job is demeaning at best. But is it an HR-reportable line, or just a "suck it up and deal with it, this shit just happens in offices" line?
Tell your Sr. VP you would prefer it if she didn't give out personal information to clients. Answering on your behalf that you are busy at the moment is, in my opinion, fine, but the remainder of it is uncool. Screw HR. Talk to her personally. She was probably trying to be nice and did something stupid instead. My personal opinion of HR departments is that they are, without exception, the culmination of all things negative and stupid in corporate culture, so that may have some bearing on my thoughts here.
I agree. HR is like the police, call them when the offense is either egregious or repeated. I would let your immediate manager/boss/whatever know what's happening, get their input if any, get yourself on the Sr VPs calendar for 15 minutes, and have a neutral toned but assertive discussion about the communication. Or do it via email, but I'd tend to do it in person in deference to the VPs position in the world.
If the VP is an otherwise sane human being without a history of problems, I'm think you should directly have a brief, informal, conversation at the first opportunity. No HR, no talking to your boss, no calendar appointments, just a 5 minute polite and casual talk. Some corporate structures/cultures make it impossible to skip the calendar appointment, but I think scheduling something immediately frames it in a very formal and negative way. If she was just accidentally thoughtless, that's an easy way to push it over the line to having her think you're making a big deal out of a simple mistake. All of that goes out the window, of course, if your VP is crazy or has a bad history.
Is anybody on here an electrical engineer with a P.Eng designation (US or Canada)? I'm thinking about going back to school and upgrading my engineering technical diploma to an engineering degree and I wanted to ask a couple of job/engineering related questions to determine if it's worth the effort.
Considering buying a used Sea Doo jet boat. I grew up around boats, all prop machines though (14ft run abouts to 55 foot cruisers in my family). Anyone have any experience with these types? The two I saw were twin engined, one had the 717cc, one had the 787s. Any tips, advice, things to look for, etc. would be welcomed.
The wife and I are doing our annual baseball trip again, and this year we're roadtrippin it. We live in Louisville and are going to Kansas City, then to Minneapolis (with a day stop in Des Moines to catch a Cubs Triple A game), then on to Milwaukee. I've personally been to every one of those cities, traveling for work, but never really had time to hit any hotspots. I don't like doing touristy shit, if anybody has some cool shit that they could recommend it would be great. We're staying downtown KC, downtown Minneapolis, and downtown Milwaukee. I know my way around KC pretty well because I worked in Overland Park for years, I don't know shit about Minneapolis, and being a former Chicagoan I know Milwaukee and Wisconsin pretty well. But any and all recommendations are welcome. Also the wife is a foodie so any good eats are a huge bonus.
I have a tax question. On my checks, I have tax taken out for K (city of residence) and C (city of employment). Based on my tax payments to K, I owe K some money. However, I have also been told that I am required to pay (out of check) to EITHER my city of employment or residence, but not both. Related, I have line 7a on my city form which is "K Tax withheld (Per w-2s)" Line 7b is "Other Municipal Taxes Paid (Credit limited to 2.25%*)" My question is whether 7b is for the taxes taken out by my city of employment, so I can put that amount towards my residence city payments. Also, this year is the first year that filing is mandatory for ALL residents, including renters. Since filing was never mandatory in the past, can they come after me for not filing previously, or would that fall under the provision of ex post facto?
Does anyone know how to get a password for an email account off of your iphone? I've forgotten the password for my bullshit e-mail account, but I still have it on my phone.
I live in Kansas City and love food, so tell me what you like to do and the types of things/foods that you are looking for and I'll make some suggestions.
Is it possible to get upgraded to first class on a flight solely through charm? There has to be a way if its not full right? I'm flying from SC to Tampa for christ sake, how many smart people can be on this plane?
Idiots, Did anyone here go and complete an M.F.A.? I've been looking into programs this past year and it's something that I've found myself becoming more intrigued by. I have a job now and an M.B.A., but this is always something that I've wanted to do. From what I have researched, the major programs wave tuition and pay between 15 and 30 thousand per year through fellowships. I've reached out to many, but, please PM with any information or experiences.
Hello, attorneys. I need some direction regarding an injury sustained during a class at school. The professor in charge of the class is well aware of what's going on, and I've scheduled an appt with a hand/wrist ortho for next week. I want another set of hands checking things out and an x-ray. I'm just unsure about who to contact with the school or what my steps should be. Any guidance in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Yep. Go ahead and just ask if there are any upgrades available. Usually will work about 25% of the time, but still worth a shot nonetheless. Also always ask for room upgrades at hotels. You have much better odds and usually theyll hook you up if youre nice to them or especially if you belong to some rewards program (Marriott Rewards, Hilton High Honors, etc).
I usually wait to be the very last person to board a plane, first class seat open? I just sit my ass down and order a drink. I have only ever gotten asked for my tick one time, no one ever checks.
I am filling out applications for bartender at some joints opening up. Anyone have any pointers for something specific to add to the application? Anything that would make me stand out against the other 1000 applicants? I'm willing to work for tips only, sans salary, just to get my foot in the door. I've only a month's experience working at one (doing events at a shit hole that had no business), but I know my beer/booze like no one's business. Any help will be rewarded with naked pictures of myself riding el burro. Or, in a thinly veiled threat, any help will be rewarded with me not sending those pictures.
