If you're applying for something yourself, even if you're married, then it's just your own credit score that is checked. If you are applying for something jointly or with a co-signer being your significant other, then both credit scores would then be assessed.
Does anyone here have experience transferring relatively large sums of money internationally into the US, specifically from Canada? I'm trying to help my family consolidate/clean up a dispersed array of different accounts now that my dad is aging, and this is somewhat complicated by the fact that he has maintained two Canadian retirement accounts and one Canadian bank account, despite having moved here thirty years ago. We're pretty sure we can easily get all the money into the bank account in Canada, but we're concerned about transferring it to the US, as funds over $10,000 have additional regulatory scrutiny.
Related to the above: has anyone ever disposed of a stamp collection? I'd like to avoid getting five cents on the dollar, but I'm also not eager to become an amateur stamp dealer. Old people and their affairs are annoying.
Going to Gulf Shores Alabama in a couple weeks. What should I see there? We're doing a trip to the aviation museum for sure, I'm into breweries. Good restaurants?
I need a finance/economics wonk to explain the currency devaluation shit happening in Japan/China/Thailand/Korea. Abenomics is now a thing that is causing a bit of a furor over here, but I only understand the basics. Any experts in this?
Basically its extended fallout from the 2008/2009 financial crisis. The stimulus packages in the US and issues in the EU (Greece, for instance) are causing investors to head for Asian markets, cause the value of Asian currencies to rise causing concerns over lowering exports due to a rise in prices. In response markets like Japan artificially devalue their currency, which then causes a retarded loop of similar responses to other countries in the Asian sphere. Thailand is probably headed that way next.
Drive East about ten miles or so til you get to Orange Beach. Eat at the Louisiana Lagniappe for dinner. Order the Stuffed Mushrooms as your appetizer. Thank me later. I ate there the night after my wedding back in March and I'm still dreaming about those fucking mushrooms.
I was wondering if anyone on here works in human resources in the medical field or something related. I am considering getting my masters degree to supplement my education and make me more competitive in my field. I guess what I am wondering is what doors my current education and experience + a masters would open up. Currently, I have a bachelors degree with a major in pre-law and criminal justice. I am a fully registered x-ray and ultrasound tech as well. I have almost 5 years experience in my field and am being promoted to supervisor this summer. What I don't want is to sit at the clinical tech level and have a bunch of wasted potential just pass on by. In my field, very few people have even a bachelors degree, but having one isn't helping me right now. I feel a masters would be beneficial somehow, but I don't know in what ways. I appreciate any input. Thanks.
I really could use a little help. I can choose and size an HVAC system and understand how it works. I have no clue about maintenance costs though. My house has two units. A split system that handles the second floor with the condenser outside with the unit in the attic. The other system handles the downstairs and it is a combined unit outside. Both are 2 ton units. Our downstairs hasn't been cooling properly. We knew there was a small leak in the lower unit as we needed to add a couple pounds of freon last year. Well, it holds around 3-4 pounds total and it is very very low this time. He is saying I need a new evaporator coil and the little machine was going off when he lifted the lid to the unit along with checking a couple other areas. The number he was getting was 10 suction pressure with 130 head pressure. The other unit that handles upstairs is a little low on freon, maybe a pound or so. The number he was getting was 50-55 suction pressure and he said it should be 65-70 or so with 170 head pressure. He said that the upstairs unit should have the evaporator coil replaced as well at some point as he feels that's where the leak is coming from there as well. No dye has been added and I don't know where the leak truly is happening. He said they charge $150 or so per system to put dye in. Is that right? I'm afraid to have this work done without knowing if it truly will fix it. If a leak is elsewhere, how does this help? The cost out the door for the lower unit that really needs some work is $1594 after a 15% discount for having them serviced and cleaned the system. The upper unit will be $1182. He did say that I could hold off on both and just fill with freon if we won't be staying more than a few years, just fill each spring and pay that way. If we are staying, he said to do the lower unit now, fill the upper unit and then in a year or so if the leak gets worse do the upper unit. Are those prices decent and are his suggestions reasonable? The units are around 10 years old but the lady who lived here the first 4 years before us really treated the house and hvac like shit so I know that the system is probably acting like it's a few years older. Any thoughts? This is my first home and I haven't had any hvac problems before. We change filters regularly and have twice yearly checkups fall/spring since we moved in. Last year was the first that a leak was showing on the one and this year both are showing much more extensive problems. Is it also throwing good money after bad to just fix the evaporator coils? He said everything else looks perfectly fine. He also said last year this time that everything looks good. This all sucks! Thanks for any info or advice.
Do not hire a friend that is in the business, trust me. I sell real estate and I refuse to work for friends, it can ruin a friendship. That being said, interview a couple of the large name realtors in town, at the property, ask them a list of questions, amount of sales for the year, amount of sellers they have represented (not buyers), advertising plan, staff, percentage they charge, how other realtors will be able to access the home for viewings (theft, etc.) and please stress to him that any/all offers will require a pre-approval letter from a qualified lender. If I think of any more, I'll DM you.
Four of my students will be going to Australian universities soon (one to NZ). Any of you Aussies or Kiwis feel like answering some questions about the process so that I can give them some meaningful advice? Thanks in advance.
Sooner or later, you're going to have to change out the AC and coil completely. You normally can't just buy an evaporator coil, since the coolant has changed from R-22 (freon) to a more environmentally safe Puron, R-410a. Since R-22 isn't being produced anymore, companies can charge an arm and a leg for the stuff. Send me a PM, I sell these things for a living for a big company that you've heard of. I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction of how to get a good price on the systems and my suggestions for what you should be getting. Also, if your energy bills aren't very high, think about buying quickly. Come January 1st, 2015, the minimum SEER rating around the country is going to go up, which means more expensive equipment.
Is anyone here a tapatalk genius? Either my version is very buggy or I am missing something significant. If you are wise in the ways of the forum software, PM me. You shall be rewarded with puppies, rainbows and titties.
I'm hoping someone here knows an easy fix for this. I fucked up and turned off my car stereo while it was reading my ipod. When I turned the stereo back on, it said that no device was connected. I brought the ipod in the house and connected it to my computer which reported that the USB device had malfunctioned. I tried what the manual suggested...switching the hold switch back and forth, and holding the menu and center button down for 6 seconds. Nothing. I know this can be repaired, I'd just rather do it without involving a repair shop.
Is there someone living in China on the board? I have a specific question regarding a particular food which I'm developing an interest in.
Anyone have a secret to getting deals on flights? I've been looking for the past month and I have been using all the typical sites like expedia, hotwire, travelocity, but everything is $1200+. I am trying to fly from HNL to MOB but am open to going into Gulfport or Pensacola, or even Houston if the dates are right so that I can drive in with my sister. It is my mom's 60th birthday and we are throwing her a really nice and also secret birthday party. I have made no promises that I'll be there but if I could get a ticket in the $800 range I would throw down the money happily. Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions.
