Can anyone recommend a home sound program that is blue tooth acceptable and works off my Iphone and Ipad. I need to be able to set up multiple zones. In my apartment I have been just using a Bose stereo but I'm moving and need something that will work for multiple floors and outdoors. Thanks in advance
Err, Bluetooth doesn't work across multiple floors typically. And I don't know what a "home sound program" is. If you want a real multi-zone, controllable system, I would bite the bullet and buy some Sonos equipment. It's pricey but it's going to provide the whole experience - easily definable zones, powered speakers so you don't have to have multiple receivers, or really expensive multi-zone receivers and run wire all over the place, and a lot of flexibility for streaming. If you don't want that cost, you could kind of fudge it with something like handful of Chromecasts and either HDMI enabled receivers or powered speakers and a HDMI splitter: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-HDMI-female-to-VGA-Converter-Adapter-1080P-With-Audio-Cable-For-PC-TV-NEW-/380755997854" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-HDMI-fema ... 0755997854</a> I don't know how good iDevice streaming is for Chromecast. For me, it'd work because virtually all of my music is in Google Music so I can stream there, and my podcast app also supports Chromecast.
My sister has suggested us siblings getting our parents a wine cooler for a combined Mother's/Father's day gift. Any suggestions or things in particular to look for? I'm guessing we'll have a collective budget of around $400.
Is anybody intimately familiar with Columbia, MD, specifically apartment complexes. My wife and I are moving back to the area and are looking at short term rentals while we look for a house. I've found a place that doesn't gouge for three months but it's in what I'd consider one of the worst parts of town, Oakland Mills. It's called Autumn Crest. It's a much older facility and doesn't have the best reviews online. Since it's only a short term rental, I would typically be ok with that, but my wife is worried about crime, etc. as it's a lower income area. The good places want on average $400-$1000 more a month for a similar sized place and I have a hard time justifying that for what will really be a place to sleep for three months. We lived here for a year about 7 years ago and the place we lived was great but they want $2400/month for a 3 month where the place I found only wants $1350. I know you get what you pay for, but I'm just looking for somebody who knows the area to tell me whether this area is really that bad or if it's just a lower income place. It's no Baltimore City, etc. and I know there truly aren't horrendously dangerous areas of Columbia. Any thoughts, advice?
Anyone tall and heavy have a durable office chair that has held up over time? I'm trying to get one for el husband. Most of your standard rolling desk chairs have a weight limit of 220lbs. He is 6'8" and 240lbs, wanting to get bigger. He has broken chairs (albeit shitty ones) in the past. I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PMJZGW/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but we are returning it (thanks Amazon Prime returns) because the holes are not drilled properly and it is impossible to assemble. Anyone have a great chair or know of a great brand? I have also heard people recommend purchasing a chair through Office Max/Staples/Whoever with an extra 3 year warranty and just activating the warranty when the chair inevitably bites the dust. Thoughts? I'd like to get one for less than $250 if at all possible.
I have a Herman Miller Aeron chair, and it fits all of your criteria except price. The one time I DID break the back, they sent me a new back and all was well. I wasn't alone in the chair when it broke, but it handles anyone solo just fine. Great office chair...maybe look for a used one? <a class="postlink" href="http://www.hermanmiller.com/products/seating/performance-work-chairs/aeron-chairs.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.hermanmiller.com/products/se ... hairs.html</a>
I was going to say the exact same thing, but held off because of the price thing. I've had 2 of them for over 10 years, and have had the hydraulics on one of them replaced 2 years ago, free of charge. They even sent someone out to my place to replace it for me, at no cost. All under warranty. Bought my dad one for Christmas about 5 years ago (he's 6' 340 lbs), and he busted a part on it, and same deal. He called them to order/buy a replacement part, they said, "hold on, let's check this... you're under warranty, we'll send someone out to you in 2 days". They showed up at his office, replaced the part in 20 minutes, and again, all under warranty. I will NEVER buy another brand of chair, and will be absolutely happy to spend what is perceived as a huge cost, but is really a great investment. They are also the most comfortable chair I've ever used. Failing that, see if there are any auction houses in your neck of the woods. Around my area there are a few auctions that specialize in office furniture from businesses going under, and you can sometimes pick up a really good used chair for pennies on the dollar. $0.02
Have you looked into an Extended Stay or similar hotel? I have no idea about the specifics of Maryland's Hotel Occupancy Tax code, but if you stay in a hotel longer than 30 days you're considered a permanent resident and exempt from the tax. This link probably won't answer all of your questions, but it should get you started: http://www.campustravel.com/tax_info/maryland.html
Anyone around here good with Java? I'm working on an assignment for my intro comp sci class and am stuck. Shoot me a PM if you can help!
I have a plumbing problem and would appreciate any help. I have an ice maker line that is attached to cold water line in my basement. The line runs along a joist and goes through the floor to the fridge. I have a good attachment at the the fridge line and I believe at the water line, however when I open the ice maker line valve no water is pumping into the line. I looked at the line last night and can see where water is standing still. I removed the valve at the water line and water sprayed out. Any ideas why the water isn't being forced through the line? Thanks
Water is only going to move through the line while the icemaker is refilling, so if that's not happening for some reason then we need to diagnose that. What is the history of the setup - is the refrigerator new, did you just move in, did you just connect the icemaker? What else is happening with it?
Another day, another Tapatalk woe. Anyone here using Tapatalk? Successfully? Because I haven't been able to log in to TiB using it for about two weeks now. Doing this all through my phone's browser is a serious pain in the badonkadonk.
Hey, is anyone here an HR professional or trained in HR? If so, throw me a PM. I have a quick question that I need to have answered by someone impartial. Thanks!
I finally have a vehicle that I can use to haul canoes and kayaks, but I'm in over my head. What I'm looking for is a kayak for weekend use in freshwater (maybe brackish). I'll want to mainly just use it for getting from place to place, not fishing so much. I'd like it to have storage enough for camping and fishing gear - maybe a rifle. Any tips on buying a general purpose kayak?
Hey fitness people! So I'm strongly committed to getting healthier, feeling better, not being a fat fuck, etc. Currently I'm doing a work out that involves a lot of classics like lunges, crunches, tricep work with light weights, etc, but not much cardio. Given that my goal is to both lose some chunk and build a stronger healthier body, what kind of balance should I be looking for in toning vs cardio? Half and half? 60/40? Any tips are appreciated, I'm an idiot on this because I've spent 32 years not caring.
Do you know anything about HIIT training? If you are trying to lose weight, HIIT can be pretty damned effective alongside a heavy lifting regimen. Disclaimer: (in my opinion) HIIT fucking sucks. It is good in terms of results and in terms of how short an amount of time you have to do it per session, but like its name indicates, it is intense.
Hey folks, looking at assembling a gaming pc to hook up directly to my 1080p HDTV (40 in). I've done a lot of research and read reviews but still have so many questions: 1. i5 4690K Haswell seems to be the verdict on the best processor for a purely gaming system. Does any one have experience with the AMD Vishera 8-core? Is the i5 worth the extra? 2. I know that an SSD will allow me to boot up the OS and games super quick, but will it make a difference once its all up and running? 3. How well would an SLI setup work for an HDTV? Would it be better to just go with a gtx 780 ti? Thanks in advance.
I have been an AMD fan/user for as long as I can remember. My next system is going to be an Intel. I am looking at the 4690K is the best price/performance you can get right now. In the fall Intel is releasing there 5th gen chips, and they are going to be the first ones to use DDR4(thou I think it is only going to be on the top of the line extreme edition). I am going to wait until there new stuff comes out in the fall and make my decision from there.
