I have a 2 part epoxy in my work shop and in my parents garage. It is great in my shop, any spills you can wipe up, just sits on top. In my parents garage there has been two spots where it has worn off, right under the tires, but the is from turning the tires without moving the car.

Coconut oil, warmed between the hands and smoothed over the beard.

Also - letting it grow doesn't mean not trimming the crazies.

A have a few friends who own auto shops. One of them did his own, DIY epoxy garage floor in his own, lift-equipped garage, and it came out pretty good.

Then he had a pro come in and do the floor of his new shop, and it was a night and day difference. He then had the same guy redo his home garage floor with the same stuff.

I'm not sure if it's access to material, or experience, or what, but the pros did a fantastic job. (Go figure)

If you want a really good job done, I'd say reach out to the professionals who do the auto shops in the area. At least once a year, every shop I know takes a long weekend to redo their floors, so they should be able to hook you up with a pro.

Talk to the pro, and even if you can't afford them to do the job, see if they'll sell you the material that they use.

Heh. If I trim the crazy hairs right now, I'll have nothing left. But thanks for the coconut oil suggestion. Trying it out.

Anyone here use Pirelli winter tires? I'm finally breaking down and putting winters on the 'Stang for the season. I've got my eye on a set of Pirelli Winter IceControls. I don't want to break the bank because this is likely the Mustang's last winter with me (*sniffle*), but I don't want to be fishtailing when I'm 9 months pregnant and my belly impedes my ability to steer the ice like I've been able to in the past.

Honestly, ANY pure-winter tire will outperform any all-season tire.

Probably the most over-hyped is the Blizzak, way too expensive for what you get, in my opinion. Just great marketing and the only snow tire that people seem to know by brand.

Personally, I'd just go into your tire store and ask for the ones they have on sale, and that'll be plenty good enough. Especially if it's just for a year... mostly you're paying for the longevity of the tire, so if you just need a single season out of them, go cheap and throw them in as a bonus when you sell the car.

Just be sure to get them on their own, cheap-ass winter rims. Nothing kills rims faster than unmounting and remounting tires on them.

Not to mention if you aren't doing the swap yourself it'll kill your wallet pretty quick too.

I have til tomorrow to pick a fucking healthcare plan if I want Jan 1st start of coverage. This is a clusterfuck for so many reasons and I have spent an unreasonable amount of time looking over all the options and I am barely any closer to reaching a decision. I can barely wade through this BS. Anyone know how different United Healthcare is from BC/BS? We have BC/BS now and I was fine with our plan, but that plan is no longer available and all the costs have gone up a lot.

I am also not sure how we met our deductible last year, but we did. Supposedly our deductible for our current plan is a lot higher than the plans I'm looking at now...so...better plans? Then throw in the whole "free after deductible" vs cosharing payment up to the deductible vs % payments based on total cost and I am lost.

We don't really go to the doc that much, except for this back thing I have going on right now. I do over the counter stuff for colds/flu symptoms, go in for a gyn checkup once a year, and get birth control once a month. That's about it.

Any tips or advice for somebody trying to wade through this stuff?

Not sure where else to put this:

I have attached a link to a crowd fund campaign for a new musical called "Sea Wife" that is slated for an off Broadway production run this spring. My daughter is the Director/developer of the show. If you enjoy good theater, please take the time to watch the video. It is very well done and gives a good essence of what the show is all aboutl

I got a call from a collection agency saying that I'm on the hook for a little over $2000 for towing & storage charges. The vehicle in question is the car the ex wife got in the divorce back in 2004. Even though she bought out the lease when it was up, somehow my name is still on the title. I tried to explain that it's not my car and I have the divorce paperwork stating that it is her car but the collection place is saying that doesn't matter. I contacted the ex and she says she doesn't have the money to pay it. I'm in the market for a house in the next year so this can really fuck me up credit wise. Am I screwed? I'm in California if it matters.

    Thanks idiots

edit- Forgot to add that it is showing on my credit report as being in collections

I'm pretty sure you can contact the credit bureaus and get that removed with documentation, you just have to prove that she is responsible for it (with your divorce papers).

Your state may be different though...ExH2 got the house in our divorce (not that I wanted it) and wound up having it go into foreclosure. They called me for it and after I ripped someone a new asshole, I sent them our divorce decree and I never heard from them again, and it doesn't show on my credit.

On top of that, a good mortgage lender can actually help you with this as well. The good ones are super well versed in how to rehabilitate a credit score in order to get you the best rates so they know the system well.

I'm tiling a shower with white marble. We've already put in gray durock and we are using white thinset. The tile, from Lowe's, seems to be transparent. So when adhered to the wall it changes color completely.

My question to you builders: will all marble do this? Or is it just the psuedo-cheap Chinese bullshit that is so crappy? If legit Carrera or something similar will have the same discoloration issues I don't want to plunk down another $8-10 a square foot.

My understanding is that all marble is porous, so will absorb the water and change colour. White stuff will usually turn grey.

Also, are you sure you used thinset? It is the proper stuff to use, but a lot of people confuse it with mastic. Usually, if it's in a resealable plastic bucket, it's mastic. If it's a powder mixed on site, it's thinset.

You also might need a sealer to help with the porosity.

    That's all I got.

Thinset is always powder form mixed on site, mastic comes in a tub. Marble is a bitch for discoloration, when done right it looks great but damn is it expensive. In my experience the thicker and higher quality marble won't discolor as much as the cheaper stuff.

When you do the grout be sure and get the sealer that mixes in with the grout, it seals the entire way through and beats the hell out of the spray on wipe off grout sealer.

Would like some suggestions for site blocking apps. I don't need to be banned for life for not writing my novel but as long as this site and a handful of others are blocked for a good portion of the day Ill be gravy. Other people use this computer so I need one that only blocks specified sites, not the entire internet. Running a Mac with OS X. Any guidance wold be much appreciated.

    HVAC question.

I have Trane heat pump system with electric auxiliary heat in the extra bedroom upstairs. I don't get up there very often, and sometimes, I forget it was in cool when I should have switched it to heat and vice versa. I want to change the thermostat to one like I have at my office, that gives me a heat / cool / auto setting. That way, I can leave it on auto over the range (4 degrees, I think) and have it decide whether to turn on heat or cool.

I know that the aux elect heat means it's at least a 2 stage heat. But what is 3 stage heat? I'm a little confused on exactly how to wire this, whether I need to wire it for 3H/2C or whether I wire it for 2H/1C. Before I ordered the thermostat, when I was looking at the literature, I thought that it implied the extra heat and cool stage (3H/2C instead of 2H/1C) was for the "auto" type thermostat. But, now that I've opened the installation manual for this Honeywell FocusPro 5000, I'm not sure. The description of the Trane product indicates it's single stage heating and cooling, then adding the electric furnace for the second stage heating. So, it would be 2H/1C, right? And, I think that 3H/2C is only if you have something like dual compressors, so the extra stage would be the additional call to the second compressor, right?
