Im trying to buy something on ebay and pick it up locally to skip the nutso shipping price. Ive discussed this with the seller and he agreed to it but he sent a selling offer that included the shipping price from the original listing. He claimed he can't edit the shipping price out until I accept the offer. Anyone know if this is actually how it works? Im not familiar with this process but the offer message from ebay doesn't allow you to decline and offer, just accept. Im guessing he could just cancel the offer and resend?
Sounds fishy as hell, to me. If you're picking it up with locally, why not just hand him cash, and cut eBay out totally?
Im taking a trip and Ill be local to pick it up in a week when Im there. It's a fishing rod in a tackle shop that could be sold at any time. Part of me wants to just have the thing bought so I dont have to worry about that.
Yeah. I hear you. And I’m no eBay expert at all. You could trust them and see how it goes. Keep all emails/messages to prepare for a potential fight later.
I have done this exact thing, and yeah there are some restrictions on the seller. You could try a PayPal invoice?
Thanks I did some more digging and found the same rod delivered to my house for just a few dollar more than he offered.
Quick what was that app that lets you download imbedded videos off websites? I need to save a bunch of YouTube how tos. Thanks.
Question for you guys and gals. My wife and I will potentially be closing on a house in about a month. However, we are going to need someone to sublet for the remainder of our lease. Any websites/services that have worked out for anyone in the past (ie not getting you murdered/screwed out of a bunch of money) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Wifey and I might go look at a speed/ski boat this weekend. I've been wanting a boat since I was a kid but I'm going to put the ego away from the type of boat I really want and get something a little older, cheaper and smaller to learn on. We're looking at 2000 Crownline 225 BR which seems to have good reviews, nice layout and enough power to pull a wakeboarder. Thing is, I really don't know what problem areas to look for. The seller appears to be very open about the flaws it does have but I don't want to buy it, have major issues because I didn't know to look at the thingamajig. Any tips or ideas to look for?
Anyone have any tips/tricks to investigate a weird credit card charge? I got a "CLAutorenew" charge of about $100 that I have no fucking clue about. I went ahead and disputed it, but this is a shitty time of year to have a credit card deactivated. Checked the usual suspects and scoured my emails the past few days. Nothing about a "pending renewal" or anything. All the credit card transaction gives me is a merchant number, state (CA) and category. This is an infuriating mystery.
I know there are some people on the board that work in the medical field, so I figure I'll throw this out there and see if anyone has any ideas. Is there a 'good' way to go about trying to get medical records from a now closed hospital? My mother is trying to get scheduled for a medical procedure, but the specialist's office won't start the process until they can examine her old records from the last time she had a similar procedure.
When was the last time she saw the old doctor? HIPAA requires doctors/practices to have a process to produce medical records for up to 6 years upon request. It’s possible that the practice was “sold” when it was closed and that another practice has them. There are also state laws that dictate how they’re managed. I would start with the state medical board to see if they can help.
This would have been closer to 15 years ago, so well past the required retention period. I'll try contacting the state board as a starting point. Appreciate the feedback.
Hey idiots. My wife and I are ending up paying more in taxes this year than expected, and we want to set up our W-4s so it’s withholding a little extra. here’s the current form: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf Am I correct in assuming that line 4(c) is where we enter the amount we personally want to withhold, in addition to the taxes our job withholds? It seems obvious, but these forms confuse the shit out of me sometimes.
As a Canadian, I would say "don't worry about it", just wad it up and throw it in the garbage. *this is not professional tax advice.
At least I know that, if I followed your advice, and then got upset with you, I would get a heartfelt “soorry.”
As an American I will want you of this form. My wife and I filled it out and owe about $5k before I include capital gains. I do not trust it we had to up the number it calculated considerably.
Yes that’s the line you would add a specific amount to. Since they did away with the amount of allowances for you to add up, you have to add dependents and whatnot. If you have no dependents like me, you are SOL. You used to be able to change the allowance number and that changed your withholding amount. If you still owe even after withholding the most you can, you can anticipate additional amounts in line 4(c).
