IANAL but is he actually trying to file charges against you or is he just claiming you hit him to the general public?
This happened to me. I don't know a lot about computer hardware, and this very easy to do. I bought a USB IDE enclosure. You take the hard drive out of the old laptop, stick it in the enclosure, and plug up the USB connection(s). All the files are accessible like any drive. Very easy. I think I had to flip a jumper setting or something, but the instructions were simple. I ordered mine from StarTech.com (InfoSafe) and it was like $18-$20.[/quote] Just be careful to not get one thats JUST USB in case your HD is sata (and it very likely is if its made in the last few years) http://ncix.com/products/?sku=43264&vpn ... ure=Vantec will serve your uses and also works as a card reader
I'm in the market for a new car, and have enough cash for what I would like to buy. I plan on selling my car separately, and not trading it in. From my reading, it seems like the dealerships play number games with the price of the car based on what type of financing option you choose. I would like to leverage this and get a lower price on the car for a shitty financing option, and then simply paying the loan off pretty much as soon as I get it. I've heard about early payment penalties, and I would check the contract for that. Is there anything else I should look at? Or is this a shitty idea?
Basically he claimed I hit him (after grabbing me from behind and dragging me out of the bar--I was hammered but not being violent), 3 of his bouncer buddies held me down in the parking lot face down in a fucking puddle until the cops came, and he told them his bullshit story. I have 4 or 5 witnesses that say I didn't do anything.
It seems weird to me. If you could get to a price on which you can agree, why not then ask the dealer to provide an incentive for you to pay cash? They should be more than happy to accept cash, especially these days.
The best price you will ever get is a cash price. Tell them you're paying cash, and start negotiating. Do your research, find out if there are any rebates or incentives for your area, and try to find out what the actual dealer invoice price is on the car you're buying. If you know roughly what the dealership paid for it, you'll know where to start your negotiations.
This was going to be a rep but it might help others looking at buying a car. Try http://www.edmunds.com to find the invoice price with options. You can also get what they call the "true market value" which is supposed to be a value based on what people are actually paying in your specific area.
What the hell do I do if I am trying to get court transcripts from a case and the court tells me they have no record of the case? I was there, I testified, I know this happened. The court clerk lady said they do not archive or toss out transcripts, if it happened, they would have record of it. Even if it was sealed (because it was a child custody case) she would be able to tell me they have them but I cannot see them. She says there is no record of the case what so ever. Has anyone ever dealt with this? I have no idea what my next step would be. I feel like I am in the friggin' twilight zone.
Does anyone know an application that can resize images with minimal distortion? I used MS Paint to knock a 160 x 160 image down to 136 x 136, but the quality was markedly lowered in the process. It's not the least bit important (the image in question is currently on the left side of your screen), but I get OCD about certain shit and this is one of them. And yes, I'm seriously asking this.
I feel dirty asking this... But if you work in an engineering discipline (civil, environmental, mechanical, etc) I'd appreciate a PM from you. And if you live in NYC or NJ there could be a free lunch in it for you. You don't even have to be working in that discipline, former engineers, engineering students, anything. Except software/computer engineers. I don't need you. Help.
Picasa is probably the simplest solution; it has a resize button and you can lock the aspect ratio. It's also free.
You need to first make sure you're talking to the court clerk for the correct court. Even if it's the right building, there are different types of courts, and they may keep their records in different places. I don't know how it is there, but where I live there's a criminal court, a civil court, and a Justice of the Peace court, and each of them keep separate records and have separate clerk offices, but can hold hearings in the same courthouse.
Can someone explain The Lonely Island's 'I'm on a boat' to me? I will freely admit that I find it hilarious, but I don't know why. Is it a bastardisation of a popular song that I don't know, or is it (that I hope) just a ribbing of rappers ability to make money out of talking about anything?
OK, so I decided I need to get my fat ass into training for track this spring. I have access to an AWESOME weight room at my school 5 days a week. In addition to doing track, I'd like to start working on general muscle-building unrelated to track. How do I go about making a training plan? How do I want to structure this?
Coffee question I just bought a french press and need to buy some more coffee. Trader Joe's has about 20 kinds of coffee and I'm wondering if any of you guys can recommend a blend for me. I'm not a coffee snob so I'm wondering if I should just get the base coffee, or french roast, or one of the other kinds. I don't want anything that acidic because some kinds of coffee destroy my stomach. Thanks.
Re: Coffee question Darker coffees will be lower in acidity, so French or Italian roast is what you're looking for. This will also complement the French Press style of preparation. South American coffees tend to be lower in acidity, try a blend with Brazilian or Columbian coffees. Fresh roasted from a local coffeeroaster will almost always be better than mass-produced coffees from TJ's, or another big retailer. Since you're in New York, Stumptown Roasters has a shop in Manhattan (in the Ace Hotel), I'm a BIG fan of theirs. Buy it whole bean, grind it fresh (coarsely for your French Press), and store it in an airtight container.
I just moved into a new apartment where the previous tenants had at least 2 cats. The landlord vacuumed and steamcleaned the carpets, but I still start sneezing and getting a scratchy throat every time I come home, most likely from my allergy to cats. What else can I do to get rid of the dander and allergens from the cat, beyond re-doing the steamcleaning and vacuuming like crazy?
Look into the P90X program by Tony Horton. Might not be exactly what your looking for but it's proven to work and worth a look. If it's not what you are looking for right now, it might be down the road.
I used to be on my university's Pankration team and looking to get back into MMA, a few years later. I'm out of shape, and more than likely, out of touch. What's a fair price these days for group sessions? Any advice on finding a good MMA gym?
