I've been assigned the task of planning a honeymoon for my fiancé and myself. I'm dealing with a travel agent, but it's my first time doing any of this. I've never been anywhere except a trip to Aruba once, but I wasn't involved in the planning of that.

So far, I know that we want somewhere warm with a beach, but not Aruba. Any suggestions? Also, the travel agent-is it better to have one or should I try to plan it myself? Any help is greatly appreciated.

New Jersey in July meet all your criteria.

If you can't make use of expedia, orbitz, priceline or any of the other travel sites, you're probably better off sticking with a travel agent.

Skunking is not caused by cooling and warming cycles. It's caused by light, mostly the blue-green wavelengths. If the beer has been stored in a dark room or in enclosed cases, it will be fine. Brown bottles also work pretty well. You should stay away from green and clear bottles exposed to light.

I've always felt that if you open the beer, and the beer tastes bad, then don't drink the beer and go try the next one.

I'd set the cutoff at 5 beers spaced throughout the case. If 5 beers are bad from different areas of the case (four corners and the middle), then you're probably SOL. Try a 6th at your discretion.

I've been putting off buying some out of ignorance/shame, but I'm thinking of purchasing some kind of hair restoration product. There's no reason, at age 21, for me to have Will Arnett's hairline (not an exaggeration, it's dead-on). I can only imagine what it will look like when I'm 35 if this is what it's like already. Does anyone here have personal experience (or at least know someone who does) with Rogaine, Procerin, or some comparable product? Is it advisable to use at my age? Is it something I can use once in a while and be okay with, or do I have to continually use it lest things revert to the way they were before (not unlike someone with ADD forgetting to take their pill)? Most importantly, roughly how much does it cost? I don't want to break the bank here - after all, it's just hair, not an appendage.

I have a gas grill that has hot spots and dead spots and is generally pissing me off. I don't want to get a new one ($), and am thinking about installing new burners instead. I was wondering if you can replace the burners with some of a different design? Any tips?

Depends when you're going. The Caribbean has two seasons generally, wet and dry. And the wet season starts very soon and lasts til our fall. As long as the travel agent isn't useless though, they should be able to give you all the advice you need. Use trip advisor, the travel agency gets feedback from people, so they can tell you where to go. They tend to know what they're talking about. Also another great but small site is http://www.debbiescaribbeanresortreviews.com/

Typically, no. However, a good cleaning of the burner jets with a wire brush should help to even out heat distribution. When you remove the grates and the "flavorizer bars" (as Weber calls them), turn the grill on high so you can see where the jets are more clogged. Scrub the bars with soapy water to eliminate as much accumulated grease and residue as possible (ScotchBrite pad and Dawn dish detergent work real well). Scrap and clean out the tray underneath the burner of any collected ash and cooking debris. I coat it with baking soda to absorb drippings and it makes cleaning the next time a lot easier. I do this once/month during grilling season as routine maintenance and keep the grill covered and find I can get 10+ years out of my grills (married 22 years and just bought my 3rd grill last season, so 1/11 years).

You can burn it out too, if you can remove the burners.
What they do in restaurants is to place a clogged burner over a lit one for about 1/2 hour or so. Burns up all the accumulated shit inside.
Good fun. Be careful because the metal gets a little hot.

Looking for some help with a sublet agreement. What I've run into though is that my school's sublet lease agreement that they provide for students to use appears to SUCK. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

You can find it here: http://www.has.uwo.ca/housing/offcampus/
Just hover over students and click Sublet Agreement.

What I'm looking for is advice on if this is actually good, or how to make one that is good. Basically, I want my ass covered so that if this person decides to put a hole in the wall, etc it wouldn't be difficult for a judge to see they accepted all the responsibility. Furthermore, anyway to make them accept the terms of my lease with the building or something like that would be great.

Lastly, and I'm sure this is a long-shot, anyway to have some nice language that is to the effect of "If you leave the door unlocked in a drunken stupor and everything is gone one morning, you are responsible for replacing everything". Without saying it though, perhaps something about negligent care to secure the premises? I'm definitely no lawyer, just hoping one of you out there is willing to take 5 or 10 out of your day to lend a student a hand.

Thanks

Depending on your how far you want to go, Thailand is a great option, especially in January - March. Its more pricey at that time, but you're less likely to get rained out at the beach which is definitely a possibility if you go during the summer. The good thing about Thailand is there's a whole range of places to stay/types of beaches so you can adapt your plans to your budget.

Alright, all parents and insurance experts, please help if you can. My wife is a few weeks away from giving birth to our first child. Early on, we were given estimates of the costs based on her insurance, etc. so we went ahead and had my wife create a flex plan to cover as much of the costs as possible and budgeted accordingly.

She is a teacher and has insurance through the state of NC. It's too expensive to add me to her policy. A few years ago, I bought my own policy as I'm a consultant and cover all my benefits, etc. with my salary. We both have BCBS, just slightly different as I tailored my policy to fit my personal needs. Well, when the baby comes, we've been thinking of just adding her to my policy as my co-pays are lower and I generally have a better plan. It's about the same monthly cost to add the baby to hers or mine.

My question and problem is this:

My wife's insurance covers 80% after $200 copayment and her $600 total deductible. Her total coinsurance max is $2,750. So, add that to the $800 we need to pay and it seems worst case, $3550.

Well, I've been reading about how a lot of places are giving a separate bill for the baby. The average for my hospital is $1865 for baby. For my wife, the average costs are $7814 for Vaginal and $12804 for Cesarian.

I've talked to a rep. from my insurance plan and also hers. I've also talked to an estimator from the hospital who gave me the figures and talked to me a bit about the costs. Nobody is giving me a straight answer.

Her policy seems to say that any charges up to 48 hours for Vag. and 96 hours for Cesarian are all covered under her policy for her and baby. This would be ideal as we budgeted expecting her to hit that $3550 max worst case.

If I add the baby to my policy, will I be on the hook for the $1865 charge. I've used $0 towards my deductible this year. I'd be on the hook for about $1000 extra if that bill is put right towards my plan. Also, if the baby is added to my wife's policy, there are deductible issues there as well. I fully understand that anything outside the covered 48 or 96 hours is on baby's policy, I'm more concerned that they start the clock on baby's own bill the moment she is pulled out.

I don't know if I explained any of this remotely clearly enough for anybody to help. I'm so f'in confused right now and don't know which way is up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyone here do Crossfit or study/train MMA in Northern Virginia? Even if you're not in the area, I'm specifically looking for opinions on this gym. I don't have experience in either MMA or Crossfit and I'm looking for somewhere to start. Thanks.

How is a single policy cheaper than benefits through the government?

My wife has worked for public schools in a few states, the pay sucked but you can't beat benefits through the state, especially compared to an independent policy.

North Carolina treats their teachers worse than anywhere I have ever seen. She doesn't have to pay for her healthcare, which is good, except the plan isn't the greatest. Just to add me to her policy, it would cost $550 a month. I only pay $200 per month and my policy is better top to bottom. I've been told it's because they don't screen and the policy I bought had a health screening, which is how I got it so cheap. They have to take into account covering healthy people and fat, stupid, old and worthless slobs who ruin it for the rest of us.

So, her policy is free for her, mine is $200. The baby is going to be $250 to add to my policy. As a family, we'll pay $450 total. If we did the full family policy under NC State Health Care Plan, it would cost us $580 total. Again, for a worse plan for me and the baby.

Now, we could also just add the baby to her plan, that costs $230. Now, we'll save $20 a month total that way, but once again, my plan is better and cheaper for the baby in regards to copays, deductibles, prescriptions, etc. I think we'll save that much over the year if we choose my plan. If we end up having another kid, then all of us on the family plan starts to make sense, until then, we're better off keeping the two plans.

Messed up thing is when we lived in Maryland, we'd have no problems at all. They REALLY FUCKING CARE ABOUT THEIR TEACHERS. Pay is so much higher, the benefits are so much better. I can go on and on. It's really disturbing how much better it is there. We'd all be on her plan and be much better for it. Not to mention the huge salary difference. First chance down the road when we can sell our house and the hiring freeze is lifted for teachers, she can land a job she wants and we can actually make the move, we're going back there. We came here to be close to her parents, who are getting up there in years. Not the best decision. The people are infinitely smarter there as well. Socially, culturally, everything. It's a complete different world up there, especially living in Howard County or the good parts of Montgomery County.

As for my issue in regards to insurance and the baby, I talked to a few more people. It seems that there will indeed be a bill for the baby, but the first 48 hours for Vag. delivery (yes, I did say Vag) and 96 hours for C-Section will be covered under her policy even though the bill is to the baby. It's supposedly counted under her policy, so there will be no extra deductibles or copays, etc, which was my fear. All this means is that the worst case scenario is going to be easier to meet as the $800 in copays and deductible and the $1850 or so average cost for the baby will be added to the 20% we'll need to pay of the actual total delivery costs. So, we seem to be looking again at very very worst case situation of $3550 total out of pocket, which makes me happier. I so feared that we'll be somehow at worst case with $3550 and then will see a bill on top of that for $1850. That would be bad. After the initial 48 or 96 hours we're on our own in regards to copays, etc. for all the coming doctor visits and that's fine and what we expected, regardless of whether baby is on my policy or hers.

I'd still appreciate anybodies insights or experiences. This has been and will continue to be a tremendous learning experience. If only I was independently wealthy and didn't give a shit about a couple grand. All of this would be moot. If only.

I'm looking at going to Costa Rica for the summer. Need some advice on where to stay, things to watch out for, etc. I'm aware that I'll be right in the middle of their rainy season, but I've read that it's worse on the Caribbean side and I was thinking about the Pacific side. Will I be completely miserable going this time of year? Right now I don't have much planned out- wouldn't mind volunteering or working odd jobs down there but I've also got enough saved to just rent a shack near the beach and lay around all day. Are the listings on Craigslist legit? Where should I look if not? Anyone with experience in Costa Rica specifically or in Central America in general during the summer, please chime in.

Someone help me find that motor cycle pic we had on here or the last board. It was more of a cartoon or something that came from Cracked, where it had a point and color system for the rider and super bike mods.

hi all - i am contemplating relocating to boston and wondering if anyone can give me any advice on where in the city i might want to live (i'm heading down there in a few days to check things out.) i would be working in back bay, but i am getting the impression it is more of an established neighbourhood where a mid-twenties, single guy might not want to live.

right now i am paying 1500/month for a new-ish one bedroom condo (en suite laundry, dishwasher, 600sqft) in a fairly nice building downtown and if craigslist (any other good sites to check out?) is any indication it doesn't look like i could get a similar setup there for the same amount of rent. right now i walk to work, so i'm not looking for a long commute, but anything on the subway is fine by me.

any input would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

So kind of just a general knowledge question. I understand how internet works. You have a modem that essentially decodes the message your ISP is sending out. You have a router that broadcasts that signal so any wireless computers on the network can connect to it. This signal is broken up among whatever the internet is being used for, thus taking up certain amounts of bandwidth. My question is:

Why when I load one Youtube movie which has always loaded really slowly for me. Get bored open another that I have never had a problem with, which loads with no problem whatsoever. Seriously it is like the fucking turtle and the hare here.

Anybody have an answer for this? Does Youtube harp on certain videos, can anyone explain this to me?

Wow. My brain hurts. Remember kids, the internet is just a series of tubes... nothing more. And to pick nits, "internet" is no longer "officially" supposed to be capitalized, regardless of what your spellcheck may say. And I love how spellcheck is spelled wrong, according to itself.

Anyway, to try and guess at the cause of your issue, I'd say it's a matter of the quality/resolution of the video, which is directly related to the size of the file/download. They may well LOOK the same, but in reality, depending on the codecs used to encode them, one could be huge, and one could be tiny. I could make a "grow-er" and "show-er" analogy here, but I won't. You're getting the same throughput/transfer AMOUNT of data, but the files are just way different in size.

And remember that most wireless network connections have pretty small bandwidth (small pipe for the 1's and 0's to flow through) so it'll take WAY longer than if you're plugged in with a cable of some sort.

I'm sure Binary will chime in with some other, more accurate guess... but that's what I'm going with for now.

And remember, you get what you pay for in these advice/help threads.
