Try turning that ear up and pouring a cap full of hydrogen peroxide in, then wait until the itching and bubbling stops. Good luck.

Woke up this morning, it was worse, and felt like a cotton ball was shoved in my ear. There was also some blood coming out. I can take some things but having my ears bleed is not one of them, went to the E.R. Turns out it was an infection and there was blood coming from inside the ear canal. I now have some prescription drops with steroids in them that I have to use four times a day for ten days. The ear drum is undamaged, but it was enough to freak me the fuck out at 6am. Heres to hoping this works!

I interviewed for a job about two weeks ago, and everything seemed to go well for the most part. I e-mailed the interviewer, thanking them for their time but haven't heard anything since. Could it hurt by calling them and checking on the status of the job? I really don't want to come off as a pest I guess. Also, if anyone else is in the radio industry(I think thevoice is...) has any job hunting hints, they'd be appreciated.

If you haven't heard anything either way after two weeks, I think calling would be a good idea. If you were calling two days afterward it would be pretty annoying, but two weeks gives them plenty of time to interview others, make a decision, and let everyone know the results, even if it is in the form of a rejection letter.

Just be sure to be professional about it. If they're just taking their time about deciding - a frantic/desparate/annoying email might make them rethink any plans to make you an offer. A professional follow up asking politely if they've made a decision regarding the role or if their are any updates available to you won't hurt any.

I am always a fan of calling the secretary of your potential employer mentioning how nice it was to meet her (if you did) and saying that you understand her boss is busy and don't want to take up his time but if she could just pass your thanks for the interview and that you look forward to hearing back from them. Best way to make contact and convey gratitude while having the least intrusion.

I'd like to second this point to all the young job seekers on this board. The secretary is your best friend. ESPECIALLY in a case where you're cold calling or applying to semi anonymous job postings. They'll give you the hiring personnel's name to address your cover letter, info about the company and from my experience 9/10 chatty and great to have on your side.

I realize this is a long shot but does anyone perchance have an old 20GB 360 hard-drive laying around that they wouldn't mind sending me? I mean, I don't expect it for free unless it is literally laying around collecting dust and you just don't have the heart to throw it out or trade it in. I'll pay shipping and I'll gladly trade you for something else. I have PS3 and Wii games out the wazoo. I didn't think I was going to need one but I bought a couple of old Xbox games that won't play without a HD and you generally can't find the 20's used in the game stores and the internet prices are a bit steep. Thanks either way!

I know this is super last minute. Hopefully Ill be able to read the responses. Are there any really good streaming or download sights for American College and Professional football and I guess sports in general? Ill be in China for the fall and will only be able to catch games in this sort of fashion.

Don't know which ones will/will not be blocked in China. There are couple different websites that if you go to first, will increase your ability to access blocked sites. I think someone else here can probably tell your more about that and exactly what those URLs might be. It was floating knowledge among the westerners there too.

As for watching football... college isn't too bad, especially depending on the team you follow. However, as I stated in the aforementioned thread, the NFL's legal department works hard on Sundays. They send out cease and desists wicked fast and you may have to switch streams several times.

I imagine you have a favorite team to watch. Usually the more popular teams have someone on Justin.tv who streams the game every week and keeps the room password protected in an effort to keep the NFL unaware of their dealings. I know this is true for the Steelers at least.

So I'm a photoshop tard, and I want to get some stickers made. They're 8.5 x 1.38, white text on black background. The font is trebuchet MS.

These are the instructions from the submissions page of the website.

So, given the requirements, can someone help me out and hook me up with an image file meeting the description? The example was made in mspaint.

I'm planning on purchasing a car in the very near future. I've been looking around online, and it appears as though, with the crazy discounts currently offered in my province, the Pontiac G5 is going to give me the most bang for my buck (fully loaded for under $300/month).

Does anyone have this car/any new Pontiac, or know anyone with one? I have a friend with a G6 who loves it and has never had a problem with it, but I'd like to hear more reviews on it first. Any info is appreciated.

My neighbor and his wife have serious money issues.

They're over 25k in credit card debt, and just borrowed against their 401k to pay off the debt. Sounds like a smart move, right?

Except, they did this exact same thing a few years ago and sold all their company stock to pay off before.

Their debt isn't due to anything serious like an illness or anything. In fact, the day after the husband completed the 401k loan, his wife was out buying a car full of shit from Kohl's with my wife. But she's not just the problem, he went out and bought a brand new big screen tv (3 inches larger than mine) after I bought my first big screen tv. His old big screen tv was a year old. So obviously, this debt is stupid and completely avoidable.

My question, I'm friends with both of them and trying to draw the line between "none of my business" and trying to help a friend in need. I realize how much I would fuck this friendship up if they took my advice the wrong way, but at the same time, I feel guilty for turning a blind eye everytime. Should I mention to him that he might want to meet with a CFP?

stay out of it... if you're not close enough to the guy/gal to breach the subject comfortably, then you're not close enough to get involved at all.

Think if it were your best friend or brother.. you'd have no issues with doling out advice. but if you've got pause or if you've got to ask advice on a message board, best to just not.

Plus, lending advice/getting involved, opens a HUGE door for them to ask for "favors".. ie loans and co-signings.

Agreed, unless these people are actively seeking advice they WILL take it the wrong way, just like a junkie not looking to turn himself around ignores and gets irritated with anyone that brings up their issues. I pride myself on my financial well being (spending habits, not earning power) and up until a year ago was doling out advice to people who were clearly fucking themselves, the best result was someone not thinking I was an arrogant prick (they still ignored me).

Ugh, so true. And trust me, when they can barely pay back their debts to the credit card companies their good old neighbor who lent them some money can probably wait an extra month for payment.

    Scotch,

I see this sort of thing all the time through work. You cannot, I repeat: cannot, volunteer anything here. The reason I say that is, based on the information you've stated, they have no idea that their pattern of behaviour is wrong. If you raise the issue, I can pretty much guarantee they'll get defensive and things will go sour.

An addendum to that is; they may "know" what they're doing is wrong, but not accept it. Same result.

There is a possibility that they do understand what they're doing is wrong, but are trying to dig a deeper hole to get out of it. In that case, there's going to be shame and once again, you're likely to have a problem (either resentment or dependence, generally, and you want neither of either).

If they do bring it up, by all means ease them into some advice. Be tentative, and ready to back right off if the red flags start coming up. And always feign surprise at how bad the problem is (not of the fact there is a problem, as that's evident). When they do tell you, you can do the "holy crap" routine. That way, they get to preserve a little dignity in that they managed to hide it well, and your reaction can help shock them into realising that they've well and truly screwed the pooch.

Not an easy situation. Easiest is to just leave it, of course, and say it's none of your business. But when it's a friend, that's not a moral option.

The only catch is they LOVE to bitch about having no money to my wife and I (they did so the other day, then went out and bought a $300 Coach Bag).

So it'd definitely be easier to turn a blind eye, but they love to point it out for us all the time.

    Idiots,

I apologize for one of my first posts on here to be in the 'Can someone help me with this?' thread. I'm all take and no give, apparently. But, I was wondering if some of you degenerates who have worked in bars may be able to help me out.

I have recently moved to a new city. After months, I just landed a big boy job that starts in August. I'd like to get a job that gets me out of the house and puts a few dollars in my pocket until then. There is a bar near to my apartment that is now hiring bartenders and wait staff. The place isn't a dive, but it isn't upscale martini either. It's a couple of fresh fruit cocktails, a few good beers on tap and a young, professional customer base. I have retail experience in shitty chains from college, but no real bar experience. How do I get a job here? For reference, I'm a 27 year old guy with a graduate degree (as if any of it matters here).

I have no idea how this works. Should I opt for a job in the back washing glasses/bar backing/taking out trash and hope I am able to move up in a couple of weeks? Should I just lie and say that I was a bartender in college for years? Should I just go in and hope that they like my stunning smile and tip-able attitude?

I apologize if there are threads/posts that address this elsewhere. Please, pm me with any advice you may have.

    Thank you, Idiots!

    binx

Are you serious dude? You want to go through the trouble of getting a job that you know is only going to last 2-3 weeks maximum when you have a career lined up? You do realize you'll have to deal with the interview and hiring process and filing an extra W-2, right?

If you have no integrity the first thing I would recommend is that you don't tell them you are only going to be there for the rest of the month, I can almost guarantee they won't want to deal with the paperwork for something that short term unless they are specifically posting a 2-3 week temp job.

My real advice is to enjoy the last few weeks of unemployment. Assuming you stick with the job in August this may be the last couple weeks in your life that you are truly free to do whatever the fuck you want with no strings attached, I think you'd be a moron for trying to fill it with work you don't take seriously. Go get drunk or do something interesting (ie. skydiving, backpacking, etc).

Oh and I'm pretty sure you need a license to be a bartender (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Congrats on landing the career though, not an easy thing to do in this market, be thankful for that.

My wife and I have a mortgage through Wachovia, which was recently bought by Wells Fargo. We now, of course, send our payments to them.

I just was contacted by a Wells Fargo mortgage guy in Raleigh, who was sent our info from a lady from our local Wachovia/Wells Fargo branch. I guess we qualify for their 3 step refinance program.

It is being sold as a retention program for people who have mortgages that Wells Fargo has inherited. It's supposedly to get us to not refinance with anybody else.

There is 0 money down, no points, no closing costs. Supposedly a simple process. I've read a couple things online that it supposedly is pretty legit. It truly is them wanting to make sure we stay with Wells Fargo even though we originally set up the mortgage with Wachovia.

Now, we have 27 years left at 5.875% fixed 30 year. They are offering us 30 year fixed at 5.125%, 20 year at 4.875 or 15 year fixed at 4.625%.

So, if we stay with fixed 30, our payment drops 90 a month. We pay the same as we do now and we're paid off in 24 years and not 27. That's three years of payments. Sounds good.

If we pay about $75 more a month for the new 20 year, we are paid off in 20 years but pay a little more a month. That's not bad either.

The 15 year is too steep a month to do as it's about $200 more a month. With a new baby, we just can't swing that.

So, my question to you good people, is this too good to be true? Have any of you heard of this 3 step program from Wells Fargo for current customers? What should I look out for even if it's legit? Again, no closing costs, no points, no payments whatsoever. No prepayment penalties. Nothing but signing new notarized paperwork to save 3/4 a percentage point.

Seems too good to be true, is it?
