Tough argument there. It depends what you're looking to do with the system. PS3: Get this if you're looking to watch more movies/blueray's. Has the awesome built-in, constantly updated blueray player, which is a massive plus, and Netflix of course. Has the Move, which is basically the Wii with a light up dildo, so nothing too advanced. It offers a pretty good assortment of games between ps3 and ps2 also. Playstation Network is free, so you can play let's say Call of Duty online for free. Also, I haven't tried, but I'd imagine you could sync the system to your computer. Xbox: Get this if you're looking to play games a lot. Made by microsoft, so it's pretty freaking advanced, and still hasn't unleashed it's full gaming potential. No blueray, but has Netflix like the PS3. Can watch movies wirelessly off your computer as long as you're on the same wireless connection. Has most of the best games out specifically for the xbox only. It still has that red ring of death issue with the older system, no idea about the new one though. The Kinect. Now, take this with a grain of salt, but there's nothing really out there for it, except the wii type games, but it's still the most advanced thing out there for motion sensing, but I'd imagine more will come out in the near future. Side note: People are starting to hack the kinect making it do unbelievable things, there's a freaking porn/sex simulator out there now...creepy, but crazy advanced. So, either movies or games, that's basically what it comes down to.
So my girlfriend and I decided to get a dog together (a beagle specifically), but here's the problem, for the next six months or so she'll be five hours away (and not really near any breeders / pet stores). So I was wondering, what would be the best plan to get the dog the five hours to her? All the dogs I've known I've missed the puppy stage so I'm not sure about how to manage one for a long ride like that... or even if I should at all. Any tips?
And use the six months to research breeders. If you're hellbent on buying a purebred, do your homework and avoid pet stores. They're nothing more than retail fronts for puppy mills. A beagle rescue shelter is another option if you want to skip puppyhood.
I've done that research already, I know how bullshit the puppy mill business is. There's a few breeders near me I've been talking to, as well as a friend of the family who wants to put her 2 year old beagle up for adoption. She's really insistent on having the dog to keep her company ASAP, but if the ride is going to be really harmful for the dog, obviously I'd put a stop to that.
Has anyone taken Valerian? I have no health insurance right now and am lost without my Ambien. I'm looking for an alternative and Melatonin ain't cuttin' it. I can't imagine Valerian gives you a buzz (though that would be nice) but how well does it work as a sleep aid? Thanks!
My wife took it as an alternative to valium and it didn't do shit for her. If anything it made her more agitated than restful. It reacts differently with different people. I'm surprised the melatonin isn't working - do you take it at the same time every evening and have you given it time to regulate your sleep cycle?
No. I was just kind of winging it. Maybe also I'm just not taking enough of it. I thought I had the 3mgs but after looking at the bottle, it is actually 3mcgs. Thaaaat'll do it. Yeah but half the time it leaves me feeling like a zombie in the morning. Plus, I have been using it for a couple of months and it's just not working as well anymore (my tolerance must be going up).
I bought this pair the other day, but it gets some serious static when I use them. Anyone know of a good reliable set of wireless headphones that doesn't get static?
Selling a car I have a beat up 1998 Dodge Caravan that is basically good for parts. The battery is dead right now from months of sitting there, the right window is duct tape shut, the driver's side door doesn't open from the outside (you gotta crawl in through the passenger's side door), the front right headlight is a little busted but works fine, and some of the buttons on the interoir, well, they kinda blink but that's it. Simply put, the car's a wreck, and I need to get rid of it. I haven't put up any ads on Craigslist or automotive sites or anything like that, I just wanted to ask for some advice on where to start, asking prices, etc. And of course, any car savvy types in the D.C. area that are intrigued by this, PM me and we'll set something up. Car's got about 137,000 miles on it, a new alternator, new battery, and gets about 26 mpg on the highway. It's a piece of shit though, I rolled it on Aspen and rear-ended a guy in Georgetown a couple years ago. I've had it since I was 17, around 2003, and it's been good to me. Anyone with car skills I'm sure can make use out of it.
Compared to Ambien, it does fuck all. I use it - but I still have fucking bastard insomnia. It helps a little - but there's a reason why it's sold over the counter as a vitamin. Depending on why you're having trouble sleeping, 5HTP might help.
As a short-term solution, I've used Klonipin (generic Clonazapem) not sure if a doctor will just write you a scrip unless you have anxiety though... A very small dose of it knocks me the fuck out, but from what I've heard I am a rarity. Most people need increasingly large doses to do anything to them... I only take .5mg AT MOST, while I've heard some people can go as high as 7mgs... I don't have insurance and I pay cash for generic Klonipin and it is like 15 bucks a month if you need to refill monthly.
I Pm'ed LucasJackson this, but thought maybe someone else in a similar situation would be interested. You could donate the car to your local Fire Department and use it as a tax deduction. It's an invaluable tool for trainees and EMT's/Medics to learn how to use the cutters and spreaders, how to break glass properly, and how to extract people from vehicles. Most houses will also let you come on the day they schedule the training to watch. When I went through the training, all of us lined up and thanked the people who came to watch for their donations. There were 4 cars and we created two accident scenes, which was very cool since we had 20+ people going through the training. I'm not saying you should do this for a car you can get halfway decent money for, but if you've got what amounts to a junker, this is another option that can put that vehicle to really good use one last time. Make no mistake, though, the car WILL be destroyed.
What a cool idea. I had no clue they did this but derpderp it sure makes perfect sense. Do they tell when you can come watch your car get ripped into pieces? Because, that'd be even more cool!
All of the departments around here that I've heard from do. It's kind of cool, because after the training they give everyone a tour of the house and rides in the rigs. It's a little sad to see the kids all wide eyed and teary as they watch the roof off their beloved vehicle getting cut off, but fire trucks and sirens seem to soften that blow. Other departments might vary, but from what I've heard, departments everywhere are always very appreciative for the donations and allow those donating to come and watch...albeit from a safe distance.
I'm going to be out rock climbing most of Sunday, but still want to watch the games without knowing the outcomes. Does anyone know of a good way to download the games after the fact without encountering spoilers along the way?
