I've recently moved to Fort Lauderdale and will be traveling quite a bit for my job. In the past, I've always flown on American Airlines, so I have a credit card where I can earn tons of miles. Unfortunately, Fort Laud is not an American hub (and MIA is too much of a pain in the ass), so I'll be flying a variety of different airlines. I'm thinking about getting a different credit card, but I don't think airline miles will really matter for me, so I've been thinking about going for a card where I can accrue hotel points/nights (like Marriott Rewards, etc.). Does anybody here have much experience with those cards? Are the rewards as robust as they are for the airlines? I have a Chase credit card that accrues cash/points, but it seems to take forever to build up for anything worthwhile, so I really want to get a card that gives me a lot of bang for my buck. I think somebody asked a similar question a few months ago, but they were focused on airlines.
I was a professional traveler for a couple of years. After researching for months on end I wound up with the SPG AMEX. SPG is the parent company for Sheraton, Westin, W, four points, and le meridian. When traveling I stayed only on theory hotels, and pretty much only used their credit card. I won't be paying for a hotel room for the next couple of years. PM me of you want more specific details.
I will second this. I don't have to travel as much now, so I use a cash-back card, but the SPG Amex was pretty much the best reward value I could find. If I remember correctly, you could also trade in 20K SPG points and get 25K airline miles (they basically offered a 5K bonus on transfers, not sure if they still do that).
Anyone know of any links to watch a stream of Ellen? Aaron Rodgers is on today, DAMMIT!! And yes I watch Ellen whenever I can. I love it so shush.
Furnace seems to be acting up today. It's a gas furnace without a pilot, and it's pretty much ceased to heat the house. Still blowing air when it's on. Water heater is fine, which leads me to believe this isn't an issue with the gas company. Landlord is notoriously lazy about having people come to the house, so we are investigating any other options. Any help is appreciated.
Page wire is fencing material that is a grid of relatively thin-gauge wire. You can get different grid spacing depending on what you're trying to contain (eg. big openings for your horse pen, small openings to keep rabbits out of your carrot patch, medium openings to keep dingos away from your baby).
I'm trying to learn as much about training ice hockey players as possible over the next few days. Does anyone have a good reccomendation for sites, or tips on training contact sport athletes who are late into the season? I'd love to see any links or info. Thanks!
Any of Don Cherry's Rock Em Sock Em videos. As a hockey player, I fuckin love that shit. As a Canadian, I know my shit.
I have a car repair question for any experts on here. I have a 2008 Toyota Corolla and it's got around 46k miles on it. I noticed recently that a belt is starting to squeak. It only happens when the car is idling. It's a standard transmission. When in neutral and I press the gas a little bit, the squeaking goes away. Any idea with this info what belt would most commonly be making that noise or do you need more info? Also, is it an easy belt to replace and what is a fair repair cost? I'm definitely going to take it to a local mechanic, I just want to try to have a little knowledge before I go.
Same thing happened to me last year. I dug into it and found out that the circuit board was fried. You're gonna have to call someone to fix it for you. I've had plenty of lazy landlords, you're better off calling someone yourself and sending them the bill.
I'm going to be driving up to Salt Lake City on Tuesday, and will probably be there between one and two months. I'm heading over from Los Angeles, so I figure things will be pretty different. I don't know what my work schedule will be like yet, but if anyone wants to grab a beer, or has any reccomendations for bars or restaurants, that'd be awesome. Also, is there anything glaring I should know about SLC, other than the fact that its mormon central? It'll be my first time in Utah.
If you get a chance, and are into motorsports at all, go out to Miller Motorsports Park. Not sure what the schedule is like, but it's one of the best tracks I've ever been to. It doesn't have the history of other tracks in the US, but it's one of the nicest facilities I've ever raced at. http://www.millermotorsportspark.com Seems that the track opens with a 7 race weekend on April 30th - May 1st. Not sure if you're still going to be around then, but it's a blast. I might be there supporting a friend who's competing in the Patron GT3 Challenge.
Headed to New Orleans for the Friday/Saturday parades, looking for any advice. I've been to new orleans a handful of times, some before and after katrina. Not sure what to expect for Mardi Gras (only staying the weekend). I managed a holiday inn near jefferson so I'll be taxi'ing in and out, and there will be 4 of us. I'm familiar with a lot of the obvious - watch your wallets, avoid street bets, lots of drunk idiots. Any advice on any particular events to go to, places to watch the parade, best perch spots to see some boobs, places for some bad ass cajun food, etc?
