So instead of driving from NY to Arizona, I've decided to have my car (and what little belongings I own, which fit in the car) shipped. I've been getting quotes of around $1100 all day, does anyone have insight or has anyone shipped a vehicle before? I'm not sure what to watch out for, if I'm getting screwed, etc. Thanks for the help.

How much should I tip at buffets where I'm seated and served drinks?

Buffets here typically have you pay at the door when you enter. I don't tip at buffets, same as I don't tip at fast food places. If I have to serve myself I am not paying someone else.

*Servers there are apt to have a higher wage than the minimum for this reason.

The only buffets I ever frequent are Indian buffets, but I normally tip a round number between 10-15% at those. They bring drinks, clear plates, and bring dessert, so they deserve something. As someone who waited tables through college, a modest tip seems appropriate to me.

Unsolicited advice - don't eat at the Indian buffet before a long meeting. Holy god, those are bad meetings.

The house I'm looking at sits on 18 acres of raw land that I plan to sell eventually for a profit as the plot backs into a new road with plenty of commercial development.

It's a dry, fairly level plot with scattered trees, but far from a forest.

Aside from checking if it's on a flood plane, is there anything else I should look for?

Me again!

Check the obvious stuff:
- Are you allowed to parcel off the land and sell it in different plots, or is it bound and must be sold all as one?

- What is it classified as? If you want to sell it to someone so they can build a warehouse, and it's zoned for residential single-family dwelling, you're screwed.

- What services (sewer, power, etc) are available?

- This is important: If one of the plots of land does NOT presently have city services, make sure that no extraordinary measures have to be done to GET city services. For example, my dad was going to buy a run-down POS house, tear it down and build a new unit on the land (gorgeous property). Turns out that the city sewers were about 6' higher than the takeoff for the house was located, meaning if you wanted the house hooked up with plumbing you'd have to put a lift station in because the house sat too low compared to the street. Not insurmountable, but expensive.

- Check to make sure there are no liens on the property. This should be done with the due diligence when you purchase it, but it never hurts to ask.

- If you are planning on subdividing it, find out how much square-footage of the land can be covered with buildings. If you want to put five McMansions on it, but are only allowed to have 40% of each plot covered, that might be tough. Also be aware there may be height restrictions on the structures, depending on the zoning of the land.

Does anybody do mortgage lending or home refinancing? I just refinanced my home and the numbers seem strange to me and I want to bounce it off somebody who has more understanding then I have.

Can anyone give me or point me towards a non-hateful, non-biased review/critique of the Twilight movies/books? Something that is beyond the generic hate that everyone likes to spew.

My girlfriend likes them and I think she would like it if I went to see the new one with her, although she knows I'm not interested in seeing it and is nice enough not to force the issue. Last night, though, she asked me why I was so against going to see it and I didn't really have a very good answer beyond having just heard/read how much they suck.

I love her, of course, so I don't want to give her the generic 'they suck and you are an idiot for liking them' answer. I am assuming that I won't like them, but I think that is a fair assumption really, I would just like to be able to back it up with accurate, logical points without offending her.

So you want to give your girlfriend someone else's accurate and logical reasons not to go? Tell her you don't want to go because you aren't interested. Or go see the dumbass movie and make the girl happy.

Need help the source of a quote: "Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience." I could have sworn it was some Air Force general but now I can't find a name.

The other great one by Mark Twain is, "Never argue with an fool. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."

Stop being a pussy and go see the damn movie. It's not going to kill you, and if you have a good attitude your willingness to participate in something for her benefit could actually move your relationship forward. Your only reason for not seeing it is all of the backlash the series has gotten. Your question here proves that.

Don't listen to him Fern, it's a very thin line between watching a movie you really don't want to see* and holding her purse while she goes shoe shopping.

Besides, the vampires in the movie sparkle in the sunlight. Instead of turning into flames of twisted death, they SPARKLE.

*Exception: she did something super nerdy with you that she had no desire to do, then it's time to man up and watch this shitpile of a movie.

He makes a good point, and she has done stuff with/for me that I'm sure she wasn't interested in. Hell, she went to a Hippy Music festival with me back in June where we camped out in 90+ degree weather so I could see a few of my favorite bands, and she is also usually perfectly content to lay on the sofa and read while I play Skyrim/Uncharted/MW3/etc, so I probably owe her one.

Of course, there was that one time I sat through with her and her brother early on in the relationship. Jesus Christ that was the worst movie I have ever seen in my life.

No tit. There is a sex scene, but the movie is PG13, plus it's Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

I had something break on my blinds last night.
It was little coupling thing that held up the blind cover, in front of the blind device, for aluminium window blinds.
I don't even know what it's called to start looking for a new one, the guys at home depot didn't know either.
It's only about 2 inches long.

Anyone out there know what they might be called, or where to find one?

Has anyone had any luck ordering wedding bands online?

I'm in the market for a band and I've heard you can get decent tungsten ones on ebay?

If anyone has gotten one off the net or via a site like ebay, please PM me.
