My camera has shit the bed and I have no idea what constitutes a camera that won't fall apart in 6 months. Can anyone recommend a small, point-and-shoot camera that uses an SD card? My budget is under $300, if that matters, and I need something that will fit in my pocket. I refuse to be the billionth asshole taking pictures of Bali with an Iphone.
Does anybody use CDs/DVDs that are printable? The ones I have have a very slick finish on the printable surface. They work fine on any CD player with a tray or flip lid. But, in a vehicle with a single slot feed, they are too slick for the feeder to grab. Has anybody tried a matte finish spray, like an artist's fixative, that would give it some texture? Or, are there brands of printable CDs that aren't so slick?
I'm not sure where else to put this, but here it goes. I work with a company that tracks monthly profit goals vs. actual profits. While trying to calculate the percentage my actual profit was vs my profit goal, I ran into a serious issue with then both being negative numbers. Ex: February profit goal was -2377 and the actual profit was -3981, for this I got a percentage of 33%. I thought I was fine until march when the goal was -1715 and the actual was -16075, and this yielded a percentage of a large negative number. Instead of approaching zero, the percentage hits zero when the actual profit is twice the profit goal and goes negative from there. I've been told it is impossible to take a percentage of goal when using two negative numbers, but I don't believe this. I'm posting from my phone, so it might suck to read, but if it helps, the formula I'm using is. % = 1- [(actual goal+ abs profit goal) / profit goal]. Abs = absolute value
To make sure I have this right in my head Profit goal is -$2377 (unsure if this is just notation the office uses or your sale goals include a loss) Actual Profit is -$3981 (once again, is this notation or is the company just that fucked) According to your formula you are getting 33% which is not right, the formula puts out 167%, also know as 167% more suckage (Wolfram) . This is essentially giving the % difference in your goal vs actual. (-$2377 * 1.67 = -$3981). This is just the long complicated way to deal with it. The reason why you are getting a large percent difference is because -16075 is roughly 9.373 times bigger than your goal of -1715. So yea, you might just be slightly retarded with math. By the way, your formula falls apart if the company actually makes money. You are just better off using [Actual / Goal = 16075 / 1715 = 9.373] as it can handle differing signs in case the company wants to make money at some point.
This is a long shot. I'm trying to get rid of an antique (1923) cash register. I need to know how much it's worth and where to get rid of it. Searching the make/model on google isn't turning up anything. Please PM if you have any ideas.
I need a real life Comic Book Guy. My Dad was an avid comic book collector during his youth especially during the 60's and 70's. After he passed away a few months ago, he left behind 6 or 7 huge boxes full of old comics; I'm talking hundreds, if not somewhere over the 1000 mark. Now I haven't had a chance to go thru them yet, but I do know that they are all individually bagged and most also are backed as well to help preserve them. My question is, would it be easier to try and find someone to just buy the whole collection, or should I try to go through them all and try to see if there are some hidden gems amongst the lot? I know when I was younger and did some collecting myself, Wizard was the sort of authority magazine for this kind of stuff, is that even still around? Part of me would like to keep them for sentimental reasons, but on the other hand, I have a feeling I might be able to make some legitimate cash off of these and I know my step-mom and sister could really use it. So any suggestions would be appreciated. And to get it out of the way... Worst. Post. Ever.
ok...what to get for a graduation gift for a new college graduate I know very little about? Prep school traditionalist East Coast kind of dude. A classic pen? Bowtie? I don't want this gift to be completely useless. This kid could give 2 shits about me and my gift, but his family means a lot to me.
If you decide to go the pen or writing folio route, I suggest www.levengers.com. Quality merchandise and great customer service. The "Pocket briefcase" they offer is great. I've had mine for over 20 years and it's showing no signs of wearing out anytime soon. Also, it makes a unique gift.
If he's moving to a somewhat urban area he's not familiar with for a job, you can get him a city guide of restaurants, nightlife, recreation outlets. You can find them at any Barnes & Noble or order them online if it's a more obscure city.
These are good ideas, thank you. I also got, via rep, school logo shot glasses and leatherbound flasks. I will probably get a combination of these things.
Do most urban areas no longer have internet access? Get him some awesome cigars. I also like the nice flask idea. Or if it is in the budget a kegerator will treat him well
All great ideas, although I don't want to look too creepy giving him alcohol paraphernelia. From a cool old uncle or an older buddy, maybe more appropriate, but maybe not from the older, cougar aged family friend from California....maybe a little too Mrs Robinson. But thanks, and hopefully others find these ideas helpful.
Is he moving out of home? My usual grad gift for people who are getting out from dorms/parental roof for the first time is a decent basic tool box - you never realize how much you need that shit.
That's a great idea. I doubt he's moving back in with his parents...maybe a super duper Leatherman or swiss army knife, just bc I don't know exactly what his living circumstances will be...a little more compact. Bingo....useful, non-creepy, valuable, sweet!
If you wanted to add slightly creepy into the list you could extend it to one of these - Gerber Apocalypse Kit, as seen on The Walking Dead I've got a good leatherman. I still want one of those.
Hey kids, I'm looking to start making some low calories shakes to replace snacks with to help me in my weight loss plan. Anyone have some good inexpensive recipes or places to find recipes? Thanks.
If anyone has a good resume sample for a recent grad with a background in science, please let me know! I am looking at various samples now. I need to fix my resume...apparently it is "outdated" and makes me sound like an 80 year old lady.
