Like most of the people on this board I am a huge fan of Guy Fawkes post's. I almost consider him well....a friend?? Anyway today after reading his post in this thread I realize I don't know him at all. Guy, why do you own so many cars?? Guy why do you own those particular cars? A Mazda miata? It's not like you own old muscle cars to work on, or cars to race on a track on the weekends? I guess the jeep and truck make a little sense, but then the winner of the bunch a fucking tractor?? What the hell do you do, reading the rant and rave thread I thought you were a suit of sorts (and your company car) anyway obviously you don't need to give your life story but what the hell? Seriously I hate to get off the FOCUS but he has like seven cars! They just don't really add up.......
1967 Mini Cooper. This is me on Mulholland near the Rock Store. I sold the car to buy my race bike. I don't regret the decision but it's pretty hard to find a car with as much appeal as this thing, not to mention the handling. I currently drive a 97' Land Rover Discovery, I hate the thing but it's good for towing the race bike to the track. My favorite regular car that I've owned was a 92' Mazda 626 4-door; economical, huge trunk, big interior and solid as a rock...I miss that car.
Appropriately timed since I just went car shopping today. Haven't purchased it quite yet, so this is just a stock photo, but basically the same thing. Getting it in a darker charcoal though considering we already have a G35 this color. Considered getting a coupe, just so my husband and I aren't driving twinsie cars, but it is more expensive and I like putting things in the backseat. Considered test driving a BMW, but when it comes down to it, I just didn't want to be a person who drove a BMW (sorry Ballsack, but perhaps the rest of you understand)
Your loss. I'm got the ride I wanted for over ten years, and finally jumped two years ago this July 1st. Behold my 2003 BMW 540i Sport 6-speed.
Right now I'm beating the shit out of a 2000 Chevy S10 ZR2. It looks pretty much like this (although it isn't my pic) My first car in highschool was a 1966 Mustang that I restored myself. It was a lot of fun and I miss that car so much I sold that car and bought a 1967 Camaro. One owner, an old lady who drove it to church and the store on sundays. It had 36,000 miles on it when I bought it, and she even still had the original cancelled check for $2100 that she wrote in 1967. I rolled it off a cliff during a storm, and I managed to escape relatively unscathed. I really miss having a muscle car. As soon as I have a little breathing room in between paychecks, a big bodied convertible is gonna be mine, I swear!
The car I enjoy driving the most is a weekend, track-only toy, and as a result I have a 2007 Dodge 3500 with the 6.7L turbo-diesel in it that tows around the requisite trailer. Needless to say, using the 3500 as a daily driver is a bit of a pain in the ass, especially when it comes to parking, so I bought a 1990 325 for $800. What a blast.
This was my '85 longbed Chevy Silverado. I absolutely loved that truck! 305v8 engine and brand new tires. It was also the first vehicle I bought with my own cash in may of 2005. In the picture I had just gotten laid off at work and was having a few cold ones on the beach and off course dug myself a nice lil hole to sit in. I sat around jamming the acoustic for a few hours till a good samaritan stopped by and was able to pull me out. BEST TRUCK EVAR!
I've had my 2006 Accord for just over 4 years, and I only have about 45k miles on it. Runs like a charm, although I'm about ready to get a new car. I've just got the itch. My first car was a 1984 Pontiac Bonneville. I got it when I was 17, and it was old and busted up. My parents got it when it was red, but I got it when it was pink/brown. It had a V-8 and got me about 10 miles a gallon, but since it got me from point A to point B without falling apart, I loved it. I called it my Porsche.
Current: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T. Have loved this car immensely. Plan is in the next year or two get a slightly use Infinti M37 for a daily 4 door sedan. I miss having 4 doors. And pick up an older (late '70s) Ferrari 308 GTS or GTB: Absolutely fallen in love with the 308 over the last year. Shame because I had the opportunity to buy a good example locally for less than what I paid for my Genesis Coupe last year and passed it up.
Currently we drive a 1996 Honda Civic that just won't die and a 2001 Pathfinder that we are scared might die. We are thinking about looking into something that is not a minivan (a promise I made to myself a long time ago) but has a third row of seats & isn't a huge gas guzzler - I know, I'm living in a fantasy world. But, my best car ever was my 1993 Mercury Capri. God, I loved that thing. (pic not mine) When it finally died, I sold it to a parts guy and cried my ass off as it was towed away. In high school/early college I drove my dad's old Ford Thunderbird. That thing was awesome - it looked like the 1980's, but it was fast and comfy and reliable, until I crashed it and the radiator went and the headliner came down and it just fell apart. (not my pic) I also drove one of these for about 9 months while in between cars, I don't like to talk about those months. also, not my pic
I bought mine new, and it's been my daily driver ever since. I love this truck to death. It's going to be time for something new soon, and my fiance thinks she's going to make me get rid of it. She's wrong. I also have this: My fiance and I ride two up on it a good bit, and we love it. She still wants me to sell it and get a bona fide sport bike (CBR, R6, etc). I'm OK with that.
Currently driving 2004 F-150 and it is very rarely this clean, you can't see all the scratches from hunting at this angle. This has been my favorite vehicle ever, not bad for a used truck.
This is obviously a stock photo, but it looks exactly like mine. It's a 1996 Buick Riviera, with a supercharged 3.8L V6. Plenty of power, decent looks without coming off as too much of an "old mans car" since I'm 31, and extremely comfortable. It's now got 238,000 miles on it. Had to recently put in a low-mileage used engine($1,600), and get the transmission rebuilt($2,000 or so I think), so I figure I'm just gonna stick with it until the wheels fall off.
Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign. I never owned the car, I had it on loan for two years from an old neighbour who runs a garage specialising in Jaguars, but I would (very stupidly) happily pay the ludicrous insurance rates and regular repair fees and buy one for myself. There's a few for sale in town for a handsome price, but I just can't part with the money at the moment. No car has ever matched the ride I experienced in this. If I could own any car in the world it would be an E-Type. The picture is a google find, not the very car I used to drive but an accurate representation. As for current mobility, I begrudgingly rely on public transport. Spoiler
I haven't even been lurking around here for weeks, and when I log back on this is the first thread I open up. Talk about timing. My wife drives a 2008 Infinity G35 or a 2001 minivan depending on where she is dragging the midgets. Until last week I was splitting time between 2002 Toyota Sequoia and my Harley. Well, I traded the Harley straight up for a 1967 Bronco that should be here by the end of the week. Now I'll have two projects on my hands, my chopper build and possibly a frame up restore of the Bronco. My wife already wants to shoot me...oh well.
