What do we need to do to get more clan points? The only times I've seen it go up is when we get new people.

Wondering that myself, if we can get it leveled up I think members of the clan get some double xp time.

I don't really know how the clan points system works.

Well since our clan guy has been mia. I think he needs to manually initiate half the stuff. He also needs to set our clan tag. So we can have those pretty yellow Tags when we select to use it.

Essentially, yes, they do make that big of a difference. In COD, being able to differentiate where the enemy is coming from is a HUGE advantage. Sometime when you are bored at work or whatever, go and watch through some of xcalizorz's live game play videos on YouTube (here). He runs SitRep Pro on a lot of his classes so that enemy footsteps are amplified, which combined with a quality headset allows xcal to sound whore like crazy. In his "ONLYUSEmeSTRIKER" series, xcal will call out guys before they even round a corner..."I know you're back here, I can hear you," and then he will pre-fire just as the dude shows up on the screen. The enemy has no chance unless they run Dead Silent Pro. It's almost unfair.

For me it boils down to a cost:reward issue. Would I love to throw down $250 on a pair of Astro A40s? Absolutely. Will it make the game 5x more rewarding for me compared to playing with a $50 set of Turtle Beaches? Probably not.

Jesus, he just flat out rapes with that striker. They did nerf that a month or so back, didn't they? I tried using the striker briefly for a while there, but that was a couple months back. Is it still pretty viable once you get it leveled up some?

Still the best shotgun in the game, with damage or range its a beast. I leveled it out twice and haven't used it in a long time, just a few matches after they nerfed it to see the difference. More hitmarkers than I remember but I heard all they did was take away the extended mag glitch that added more pellets.

Lately all I have been running is an SMG or MK14.

To the headset talk, the turtle beach PX-5's that I have I never would have bought had it not been for a few gift cards I had. I haven't messed with the settings to much but I get 12-15 hours of gameplay out of a pair of standard AA batteries, I need to invest in some lithium ion's with a charger.

Yeah, IW did nerf the striker but it still rapes with extended mags and the damage proficiency. I think all they did was reduce the amount of bullets from 12 to eight if you run extended mags. On boards like Dome there still is no equal though. It easily took me 3-4x longer to max out the SPAS than it did to max out the striker, so if you prestiged recently and are leveling the gun up from scratch, don't worry. It will be maxed out quickly.

Speaking of shotties, I spent some time last weekend leveling up the USAS, and holy fuck is that thing badass! Currently I am running grip + range (I don't have damage yet), and a buddy and I terrorized lobbies in tandem with it on Sunday. It must have royally pissed people off because within one or two games of joining a lobby, everyone else remaining that hadn't already quit due to frustration broke out their shotguns too (typically strikers) and the game would turn into a beautiful shotgun clusterfuck.

For some reason people get really, really pissed if you kill them with a shotgun OTHER than the striker. That one second where you can hear the enemy's chat after you kill them is priceless.

If you want to level up any gun, play Infected. You will level it up and unlock everything for the pre-selected gun really fast. The striker is in heavy rotation and I've already leveled it up a bunch in a few rounds.

I got a set of these for Christmas. Can't speak about the longevity of the 720s yet but the difference in sound quality is huge as well as being able to differentiate where your targets are coming from. Running Sitrep Pro and Dead Silence Pro makes it unfair.

As an added bonus, you can use them as regular headphones on a PC or Ipod.

I ended up going with the Turtle Beach DX11 headset, which is their 5.1/7.1 surround sound wired headset (actually it's last years version, they have the DX12 out now, but the DX11 was 20$ cheaper at Best Buy and I didn't see much of a difference). I will say that they sound pretty damn good overall. As far as using them to 'sound whore' I think it will work, but it depends. I played some Team Defender with them, and with all the explosions, air support, teammates running around, etc I couldn't pick out enemy footsteps at all hardly. However, playing FFA I could definitely hear the other players running around.

This is of course without sitrep pro, which I'm working on getting right now. I have a feeling that with that (and dead silence so I don't hear my own footsteps) I'll be able to hear enemies in big team games, and in FFA I'll probably be able to hear guys coming from half the map away. Looking forward to seeing how that works.

They are incredible together but you really only need 1 at a time. If you run and gun, use Dead Silence. If you camp or sneak, Sit Rep Pro.

OK, for the DX12, looks like a great set. A bit pricey, but worth it...except that I have to drop another $25 on an adapter for PC use? Glad to see Astro isn't the only company that sells necessary components as add-ons rather than just packaging it all as one. Gotta make that money.

Been playing some FFA matches since I got Sitrep pro, and Jesus-Tapdancing-Christ...it's not even fucking fair. I can hear guys coming from a mile away.

Once I get used to the headset and get better at pinpointing which direction their are coming from, oh it'll be delicious. I even caught one guy saying something along the lines of "how does he always know where I am?" Love it.

    Quick thoughts on new maps.

Piazza: Most people hate it because it just another CQC map but I really like it; it's one of the best maps for shotguns.

Overwatch: Make sure you are using Dead Silence for this one because you will get murdered by anyone using a headset. There are very distinctive foot steps sounds from walking on wood, metal, or concrete and it's easy to pinpoint where someone is coming from. Not bad overall.

Black Box: My favorite sniping map to date. Pick a house and setup camp with any long range weapon. It's tough to run and gun because there is little cover when running between houses.

Liberation: Hate everything about it. I have trouble seeing anyone because of all the ground clutter. Camping is the only way to go here.

Still waiting for them to bring back Afghan, Crash, Skidrow, or Terminal.

Adding on to Piazza because PS3 doesn't have the other maps yet, it is great to have a map here where you won't be punished for shotguns or dual pistols either which is still fun. Also using shotguns not called Striker is possible.

Liberation is beautiful to actually snipe and camp a little one. Also good for LMGs and people that can use them. I still use the Type95 with Silencer and ACOG though. Lovely map for AC-130 fun or even Osprey Gunner, which no one ever gets except care package.

Am I the only person that fucking hated Afgan?

    I loved Afghan. Terminal too.

Do you have to pay for the new maps?

Ditto. Especially Terminal. Even though the routes were extremely predictable, if you managed to be at the right place at the right time it was entirely possible to mow down the entire enemy team within a few seconds. And if you had serious air support on Afghan, life was beautiful.

So overall, are the new maps worth buying on the PS3? I heard some grumblings about the maps when they were originally released on XBL and don't want to pay $15 or whatever for something that I won't enjoy.

They've been worth playing for me. You should just by the Elite package and get all the maps for 50, instead of the $60 the 3 separate map packs are going to cost in the end.

With Elite you get the maps before they are released to the general public, right?

A buddy and I split buying maps actually, so it's really only $7 or $8 to get them. If you know someone else with a PS3 (don't know if this works on XBL or not), if you log on to their PS3 with your account and you previously bought a map pack, it will download the maps onto your buddy's PS3 as well and they will be available for all users on that device. I think you can link four or five machines to one account before Sony steps in.

It ain't much, but considering the maps should have been in the game to start with, it's at least a little victory against Activision.
